Alex and Gutierrez's conversation continued in the meeting room, both appearing somewhat solemn.
Despite the large scale of the reinforcements, they still felt immense pressure facing an awakened Space Necron Dynasty.
"So, our current situation is that the Ecclesiarchy, Department of Military Affairs, and Inquisition are all preparing for this expedition, and we need to stabilize the situation as much as possible before the reinforcements arrive," Gutierrez summarized, his voice tinged with worry and a mountain of pressure.
Alex nodded, his gaze directed out the window, as if he could see the vast reinforcements rushing through the thick clouds in space.
He took a deep breath and slowly said, "That's right, even with many reinforcements, their arrival will take time! We must buy that time ourselves!
During this period, we must ensure Rostov's stability and security, and not allow the Space Necrons to further encroach on Imperial territory."
Gutierrez frowned and asked, "Then what should we do next? Although we have repelled the first wave of attacks, the main forces of the Necron Dynasty may still be dormant. If they fully awaken, our current strength is simply insufficient to resist."
They both knew how terrifying a Necron Dynasty could be. Although it's often said that small dynasties are embarrassing, that's only relative.
For Space Necrons whose minds haven't been damaged by slumber, even a small dynasty is enough to crush an Imperial World like Alex's eight hundred times over.
Alex pondered for a moment, then said, "We need more intelligence! What is the true scale and strength of the Necron Dynasty? Have their main forces awakened? These are critical questions we need to clarify.
Only by grasping this information can we formulate effective defensive strategies."
Gutierrez nodded in agreement: "Indeed, intelligence is the most crucial thing right now. But how do we obtain this intelligence? A Necron Dynasty's tomb world is not a place you can just waltz into."
Alex thought for a moment and said, "Let Mai Mai and Twilight make a trip. They know where the Necron Dynasty's tomb world is.
Don't bring anyone else. If the Gabbro is damaged, I'll replace it for them, but they must thoroughly scout for intelligence."
Mai Mai and Twilight themselves are only pawns; they can be resurrected if they die. And as a frigate, Rostov now has the capability to replace the Gabbro if it's damaged.
So sending them to conduct reconnaissance was the option with the relatively least loss.
"I think that's acceptable. Do you want me to go along?" Gutierrez seemed to want to personally brave the danger and scout the specific situation of the Space Necrons.
However, Alex shook his head, rejecting his idea: "The subsequent reinforcements will include Astartes, and you'll need to deal with them. Also, you'll need to persuade them about the Primaris matter."
"Ah? Me persuade them? Can they really be persuaded? What if the ones who come are like the Black Orcs, with heads as hard as stone? Wouldn't anything I say be useless?" Gutierrez looked reluctant. Everyone knew that Dorn's Sons, like their father, were stubborn. The Black Orcs were already considered the most adaptable, yet they were still fanatically single-minded.
Alex, however, spread his hands helplessly: "Who told you that you're using Earth Fists? As fellow Dorn's Sons, communication is possible. If they can't be reasoned with, just tell them that the Ash Knights are also Dorn's Sons, and they have complete Gene-Seed."
"What? The Ash Knights are complete Dorn's Sons? If the Imperial Fists' headquarters knew this, wouldn't they bring the Phalanx over?" As fellow hammer enthusiasts, they naturally knew what this meant for the Imperial Fists and Dorn's Sons.
"This is a trump card, don't reveal it easily. Don't disclose this matter unless absolutely necessary; the consequences will be severe," Alex did not want this matter to become widely known.
The fact that the Imperial Fists lack two modification surgeries is not some shameful secret, and Dorn's Sons have never been ashamed of it, but talking about some things and actually solving them are two completely different concepts.
"I know the gravity of the situation, but you should first contact Mai Mai and Twilight and have them conduct a round of reconnaissance," Gutierrez nodded, indicating his understanding, and also told Alex to contact Mai Mai and Twilight.
They had previously helped the Ash Knights engage in combat and withdraw, and since then, they had been staying at the Rostov III's foundry, as the Starport needed to repair damaged ships and there were indeed no berths available for them.
Alex nodded and immediately contacted Mai Mai and Twilight via communicator.
Soon, Mai Mai's voice came through the communicator: "Alex, is there something?"
Alex briefly explained the situation, then said, "I need you two to make a trip. I remember you two previously scouted the Necron's tomb world, right? Go there and see if all the Space Necrons have been awakened, or if only a part of them have."
Mai Mai did not hesitate and immediately replied, "A reconnaissance mission, right? Okay, I understand. Twilight and I will depart now. But if the ship is damaged, remember to replace it for us!"
"Don't worry, I'll replace it for you," Alex promised without hesitation.
After hanging up the communication, Alex turned to Gutierrez and continued, "Before Mai Mai and Twilight return, we need to strengthen our defenses. Although we have repelled the first wave of attacks, the Necron Dynasty's army could return at any time.
We must reorganize Rostov's defenses. Whether it's repairing damaged warships or replenishing troops and equipment, we must seize the time."
Gutierrez nodded in agreement: "I will immediately arrange for the Defense Force and Astra Militarum to strengthen defensive fortifications, and at the same time, have the Battle Sisters and Astartes maintain high alert.
However, Alex, we also need to consider one question—if the Necron Dynasty's main forces truly awaken, what should we do? You're not really planning to hold out to the death here, are you?"
Alex pondered for a moment, then slowly said, "If the Necron Dynasty truly awakens completely, our current strength definitely won't be able to stop them. I know that if it really comes to that, we'll fight to the death and evacuate as many people from the planet as possible!
There's no other way. We can't stop a fully awakened Necron Dynasty, unless reinforcements appear from the Mandeville Point right now and the Imperial Fists bring the Phalanx. Then, perhaps, there might be a chance."
Gutierrez sighed, clearly feeling helpless about the current situation: "Alright, it seems we can only stabilize the situation for now and wait for reinforcements! I hope Mai Mai and Twilight can bring back some useful intelligence."
Alex could only sigh about this as well. He had also tried psychic divination, but it seemed to be interfered with, and the results were just a chaotic mess.
