Just moments ago, the two sides had been riding emotional extremes, and now, they suddenly flipped!
The previously ecstatic escapees instantly deflated like pricked balloons.
Meanwhile, the previously downcast Marines erupted in cheers.
Shiranami Hakusei's face shifted slightly. Damn it, just as one problem gets dealt with, here come two more! When will it end?
To be honest, the two people he found most troublesome in the Marines were these two. And now they showed up together.
He really didn't want to waste any more time. Since he'd already broken out, it was better to get the hell out of here. The outside world still had plenty of fun waiting for him.
Who knew, after defeating these two, would the other Admirals show up next? Maybe even Sengoku? The Gorosei?
After all, this place was way too close to Marine Headquarters. Reinforcements could arrive any minute. If he stuck around, he'd be the one paying the price in the end.
With that thought, he made a snap decision and flicked his fingers.
"Retreat!"
Without hesitation, he led the other three in a breakout dash.
Admiral Kizaru, who had just arrived, saw the main culprit trying to flee. How could he let that slide?
At the very least, he had to put on a performance, right?
"Yasakani no Magatama!"
In a flash, he activated his light-speed movement, Eight Shaku Mirror, and appeared directly in front of them.
Ama-no-Murakumo Sword!
With a wave of his hand, a massive golden blade of light appeared. Without warning, he swung it down on Shiranami.
"Perfect timing!!" Shiranami shouted.
He raised his own arm, lightning energy surging. His Armament Haki flared at full power as he clashed with Kizaru in mid-air.
Kizaru blinked in mild surprise. This kid… was kind of interesting!
Clang!
Fist and sword collided, sending shockwaves of blinding light in all directions.
Holy crap!
This was insane!
They were evenly matched in just one exchange?!
What kind of freak was this guy? A once-in-a-millennium monster!
At that moment, everyone on the battlefield froze.
They all stopped fighting just to watch this clash of titans.
In the sky, the two traded blow after blow. Dozens of rounds, and still no victor.
Shiranami, relying solely on his two bare arms, looked at Kizaru's flashy Ama-no-Murakumo Sword with a bit of envy.
"Guess I really do need to get myself a proper weapon... Still, I gotta admit, Admiral-level opponents are finally worthy of being called real rivals."
What the hell? Only Admirals qualify as worthy opponents?
Why don't you go fly to the moon while you're at it?
But the thing was, he really did have the strength to back it up. That was the scary part.
He was holding his own against Kizaru with just raw physical power and Haki.
Kizaru, who usually relied on his Devil Fruit's broken speed and ranged attacks, now found himself completely stalled. Shiranami's brute-force Haki countered him perfectly, leaving him at a loss.
Meanwhile, on a nearby Marine ship that was still sailing toward them, stood a tall, upright figure with graying hair, radiating pure justice,
The Hero of the Marines: Vice Admiral Garp.
Shiranami frowned. Things were getting tricky.
He was confident he could beat both Kizaru and Garp, but not without a price. It would take too long. And more reinforcements were definitely coming. Probably stronger ones too.
Staying here was a dumb move.
So after another few rounds, Shiranami suddenly went all-in, using brute strength and fully powered Armament Haki, he unleashed his ultimate spear technique,
[Strongest Spear: Four-Finger Pierce!]
With a loud blast, he struck Kizaru head-on, sending him flying.
Without waiting, he turned and dashed toward a nearby Marine ship.
One palm strike, crack!, and the ship's mast was sliced clean in half.
"Get on!"
Redfield and the others reacted instantly. The moment he gave the word, they leapt onto the falling mast like it was a makeshift escape vehicle.
Shiranami then unleashed a monstrous kick, boom!, launching the mast like a javelin straight into the sky!
"Admiral Kizaru, we'll meet again someday!"
Leaving those parting words behind, Shiranami bent his knees, blasted into the air with sheer explosive strength, and caught up with the flying mast, landing smoothly.
Kizaru was left dumbfounded. Huh?
He just… ran?
"Yasakani no Magatama!"
But of course, he wasn't about to let them go that easily. The show must go on.
From above, a barrage of glowing magatama bullets rained down, aimed straight at Shiranami and his crew.
They were moving fast, but Kizaru's attack was even faster.
At this rate, they'd be turned into beehives before they could escape!
"Waldo!" Shiranami shouted.
Waldo instantly understood.
"Twenty-times acceleration!"
He slapped his hand onto the mast, and its speed instantly multiplied twentyfold. With a sharp whoosh, it vanished into the sky like a comet.
"They… they really ran… they actually got away…"
"He's a damn legend! He escaped Impel Down!"
"Holy crap! It's like releasing a dragon into the sea, a tiger into the mountains! The New World's about to get wild!"
"Flying Thunder God! Flying Thunder God!!"
The other prisoners left behind were ecstatic, as if they had just escaped.
"Yo yo yo… they really do run fast. Can't catch them now," Kizaru muttered lazily, showing no real intent to chase.
Instead, he floated down and landed on Garp's ship.
"Old man, you sure took your sweet time getting here."
Garp's eye twitched as he snapped back angrily.
"Kizaru, the Fleet Admiral told me you were notified first! Why are you so damn late?! All four Vice Admirals from HQ are seriously injured!"
"Yo yo yo… must've misheard. I thought the Fleet Admiral told me to head to Enies Lobby."
Garp nearly slipped off the deck.
"You, ! Even if you did go to the wrong island, with your speed, you could've flown there and back a dozen times by now!"
"Ah, well… I waited there for half a day. Didn't see anything wrong. Kept getting Den Den Mushi calls, but every time I picked up, no one spoke."
Garp's mouth twitched.
"You… you didn't… don't tell me you were yelling into the black Den Den Mushi again?"
Kizaru nodded seriously.
Garp was speechless. You lazy bastard, who are you trying to fool? Everyone knows what you're doing. Ask the readers, everyone knows.
Don't act like a clueless idiot here!
Too lazy to deal with this "drunk on his own laziness" guy, Garp's veins popped with fury. His fists clenched so tightly the air around him trembled.
The hem of his uniform fluttered without wind, the aura of a storm building around him.
He turned his gaze toward the direction where the four fugitives vanished. His fury erupted.
"Those damn pirates!! I swear I'll bring you to justice!! Just you wait!!"
That was all he could do now, yell threats at empty air.
But!
There were still others he could deal with.
He slowly turned his head… his burning eyes landing on the large group of escaped prisoners still standing at the gate of Impel Down.
"Oh sh*t."
All the escaped convicts flinched. Oh no, we're screwed!
They had been daydreaming about freedom, watching the four flee into the distance, fantasizing about their own escape…
And they'd completely forgotten, they were still fugitives too!
Garp's glare alone made several of them wet themselves.
"Uh, guys? I think we've had enough fresh air for the day. Let's head back. Time to reflect, rehabilitate, rebuild our lives… alright, scatter, scatter!"
One quick-witted prisoner started babbling nonsense and tried to sneak back into Impel Down.
"Scatter your damn head! Beat 'em up! If they die, it's on me!"
With nowhere else to vent, Garp turned his mountain-crushing fists on the crowd of dumbstruck escapees.
One swing, and he was leveling buildings with their faces.
The Marines, still burning with rage after today's humiliation, followed suit. They couldn't get their hands on the real culprits, but these guys? Fair game.
And so began the wailing and screaming across all of Impel Down. From the gates to Level 5, the entire prison echoed with the sound of prisoners getting their heads bashed in.
"Mom! I didn't ask for this role! I don't wanna be a side character anymore! This is too hard!"
