There were lines we never meant to cross. One such line was me entering into his home with which he had an emotional connection. He had been making it hard for me for unknown reasons.
Mustering up the courage, I asked, "Mr. Wolfe! Why are we here? I think we already discussed keeping the personal and business relationships separate."
The softness in his gaze vanished, and he shut his eyes after clenching his jaw. A small smirk appeared on his lips as he opened his eyes to look at me and said, "True!"
He then looked at me seriously as he spoke, "But, it's up to me to decide which is a personal thing and which is a business interest. As far as I know, everything of yours belongs to me, including your personal matters from the day you signed the contract, and if you feel something is personal, THAT ALSO BELONGS TO ME."
With a few people, one could argue, but with a few monsters, it was always better to keep our mouths shut.
Silently, I followed him to the entrance, and the main hall itself stunned me to the core. If there were any royal buildings left in the country, then one such building would be Wolfe's Mansion. The art that hung around, the exquisite furniture, and the vast space of just a hall where people like me could even build a house and live happily, nearly took my breath away. Even though it was remodeled, a few parts were left alone to give the aura of royalty.
As soon as we entered, a group of servants stood in line and bowed their heads in unison as if it was not enough that the entire mansion was surrounded by people with guns like an army.
"You all can go home."
The order that left his mouth stunned everyone, and they looked at each other, wondering if they heard it right. No one dared to ask even though the confusion was clearly written on their faces, and they left before I blinked twice.
I scoffed at everything that had just happened. For someone who grew up in luxury and could command anyone, it was not a surprise that he always looked down on people like us.
"Elira!" My name rolled out of his tongue while he removed his coat. "I need a coffee."
My eyes widened while my cheeks turned red at his words. The temperature of my body increased, and I pressed my palms together, realizing the reason he sent everyone away.
As he stepped towards me, I shut my eyes, biting my lips. I was not ready. I didn't want to do it, especially when the scent of Matthew still lingered, but I had no choice.
I stood straight, expecting him to eat me like the hungry beast he was, but his whisper in my ears made me open my eyes, confused.
"The kitchen is over there."
A small smirk appeared on his lips as I looked at him with a confused face. "What did you expect, babygirl?"
I shouted, "Nothing!"
Then I ran to the kitchen without looking back. By the time I entered the main hall again, there was no trace of him. Ignoring it, I put the coffee mug on the table and kept my gaze on the walls and rooms, admiring them, and he descended the stairs like a king bestowing grace with his presence.
"The coffee is getting cold."
He simply sat on the sofa and began sipping it, keeping his gaze on me. He then took his laptop and continued to work while I stood before him, confused and not knowing what to do.
"What do you usually do in your free time?"
His words and actions never failed to surprise me. I shrugged my shoulders, saying, "I sleep. It takes me away from reality."
His gaze fell on me for a brief second and then focused on his laptop again, saying, "I see."
After a few seconds of silence, he said, "I'll take you to the hospital tomorrow, and now, you are free to roam anywhere here and enter any room, including the corner one on the first floor, which is mine."
I listened to him attentively as if he had been saying something important that I shouldn't miss.
"Take a shower, wear my t-shirt, and make yourself comfortable. Feel like…" His dark orbs met mine. "Home."
Suddenly, it was not about lust. It was about raw and pure emotion. Like a sacred world that only our close ones were allowed to enter. Even though there were shackles around my wrists, which were always controlled by the great Wolfe, I didn't feel the weight of them.
A small smile appeared on my lips, and he left to the garden area with his laptop and coffee mug. A kind of excitement hit me like a wave when I found myself all alone in a beautiful, huge mansion, and I ran around to take a look at how the true mansion looked even though a part of me yelled at me for my improper behaviour.
It had several bedrooms with attached balconies, guest rooms, a study room, and a lot more, making me wonder why anyone would need so many rooms. The curiosity of how his bedroom looked didn't let me think straight, and I ended up in his huge bedroom with one side of the entire wall attached with his portrait.
My mouth dropped wide open, and I couldn't resist the urge to trail my fingers on his face. I could deny it as much as I wanted, but I had to admit that it was impossible to resist his charms.
"How can someone be so beautiful and scary at the same time?" I mumbled to myself.
It turned dark by the time I visited every room and felt satisfied with seeing a mansion for the first time in my entire life. Even though I didn't want to change my clothes, I couldn't go to bed in my expensive dress, which would bring me anything but sleep.
I hesitated for a while, but then I opened his huge wardrobe where kids could play hide-and-seek. I took one of his t-shirts, but seeing the branded logo even on it, I let out a frustrated sigh.
Then I went to the bathroom and took a hot shower, taking off the dirt and stress from my body. Wearing his t-shirt that reached to my mid-thigh, I walked back to the bedroom, at the same time, he entered.
"I... I borrowed one of your t-shirts."
"I can see."
His eyes softened as he walked towards me and held my hand, saying, "Come with me."
Without asking anything, I followed him to the terrace, where a projector, couches, and varieties of food were arranged.
"What's all this?" I was beyond surprised.
"This is your free time." He made me sit on the couch and played the movie after saying, "Escape the reality."
Mr. Wolfe and I watching a movie together was the last thing I ever expected, and it somehow felt good. It took away the stress and anxiety and brought me peace.
"Did you prepare the food?"
My gaze didn't leave his face. As he looked at me, a faint blush appeared on my cheeks out of nowhere even though he didn't do anything.
"I ordered it."
"Right." I shifted my gaze away. I didn't know what I expected.
With a big smile on my face, I focused on the movie that played on the screen. It reminded me of my childhood when our entire family used to spend every weekend together watching movies and playing games. After their death, I didn't expect I'd feel such joy and happiness again, but strangely I felt it with him. The nostalgia hit me so hard, taking away the blocks separating us, and in that feeling of joy, the line that I drew between us faded.
And, it felt like home.
He felt like home.
The next morning, I woke up from the sleep after his all-night cuddle and went out of his bedroom, wondering where he had gone so early in the morning. As soon as I reached the main hall, a few people ambushed me, and in a moment, I was surrounded by them with their guns pointing at me.
