I stayed curled on the floor for a while but then a knock came on the door. The knock shook me as the thought of my mother coming to interrogate caused me unease.
"Who... Who's there?" I asked and fortunately, it wasn't here.
"It's me, Ha-Joon. I'm here to check up on you." It was Mis Hwang.
I got up and opened the door.
"Are you okay, dear?" She asked and I nodded. "You should rest up. And if there's anything you find unfamiliar, just let me know."
"I will... Mom." I saw the way she faltered but pretended not to see.
After closing the door, I went to sit on my bed and dropped my back.
I stared at the ceiling for a while, and then, slowly, my eyes closed.
I was exhausted.
A knock on the door woke me and I rose from the bed, startled.
"Ha-Joon, you should eat something." It was Miss Hwang again.
My heart was racing. Was this how I was going to live from now on? Having to hide that there was nothing wrong with me and walking on thin ice?
This is why I can't stay.
