With his first completed order, Abel now knew how to use the system: always aim for good reviews!
To get good reviews, item quality was crucial—and perhaps quantity as well.
Then there was time.
The real challenge was to deliver on time while ensuring the best quality, which meant always being prepared for any order, no matter what it required.
This was not something one man could accomplish alone.
He would need manpower, influence, money, and even high status and privileges.
One command should be enough to mobilize the richest resources in the shortest time, to be fully prepared—then use the system to grow stronger, obtain unique resources, and form an unbreakable loop!
Of course, this was the perfect, ideal scenario.
But that didn't stop the penniless Abel from setting it as his goal.
At that moment, a seed of ambition quietly took root.
Abel quickly took out the Foot Strength Enhancement Shoes from his system [Inventory] and put them on. He had to arm himself in every possible way.
They were classic white-and-red high-top sneakers, fitting perfectly.
A knob on the outer side of each shoe could adjust three levels of power.
They stimulated the foot's nerve points with electricity and magnetism, enhancing muscle strength.
Each use consumed spirit energy, but they could be recharged.
No charger? No problem—the shoes had a small solar panel on the upper surface. Six hours of sunlight would fully recharge them. Very practical.
Abel sighed in satisfaction, but quickly lay back down and pretended to be dead.
Because at that moment, more soldiers arrived, carrying bodies.
"What bad luck, getting stuck with this job."
"Enough complaining. This should be the last batch. Drop the bodies, go take a bath, and let's have a drink tonight."
Abel's mind stirred at their words.
But he quickly suppressed the impulse—if they found him alive, they would surely finish him off.
Fortunately, the soldiers didn't linger. They dumped the corpses and left quickly, not even glancing his way.
Abel let out a quiet sigh of relief.
"No, I can't wait any longer. I have to leave now."
The soldiers' conversation made him anxious.
If that really was the last batch, it meant someone would soon come to burn everything here.
If he couldn't escape before that…
But just as he was preparing to leave, disaster struck—two soldiers came back.
From a short distance away, their conversation drifted over:
"Move faster. Take what we came for and let's go."
"What's the rush? Everyone else is gone. No one will notice."
"I'm just disgusted and sick of this place! Pah! Damn it, didn't you say the bodies were dumped here?"
"This is the right place. I even left a marker. It must've been buried underneath. Hurry up and look."
"You're seriously twisted—hiding stuff inside a corpse?"
"Hmph! We work our asses off to scrape together a little profit, and those bastards above just sit back and take it all, tossing us scraps like bones to dogs? Screw that! Once we get these jewels and sell them, we can live like rich men on some small island for the rest of our lives!"
"Haha, you've got a point. Let's do it!"
Though the two soldiers felt deeply uncomfortable being here, greed burned in their eyes as they searched for the valuables they had hidden inside a corpse.
"This is strange… It's supposed to be right here. Why isn't it?"
"Are you sure you didn't remember wrong?"
"No way. Whatever—let's check nearby."
Lying on the ground pretending to be dead, Abel tensed as the footsteps drew closer.
If he was discovered, there'd be no way out.
He wasn't willing to gamble, so he immediately took out the [I'm Just a Nobody] coin from his system inventory and activated it.
The coin shattered and vanished.
The effect of [I'm Just a Nobody] kicked in, greatly reducing Abel's presence.
One soldier even walked right up to him, rummaging through nearby corpses, yet somehow skipped over Abel every single time—never once touching him.
Otherwise, his act would likely have been exposed.
After all, no matter how well he held his breath, his heart was still beating steadily, and the warmth of a living body was very different from a corpse's—easy to tell apart.
Seeing this, Abel felt relieved.
But not everyone shared his luck.
From another direction, a soldier suddenly shouted, drawing his partner's attention.
"Found it!! Huh? What the hell?!"
"Get over here! There's a kid still alive?!"
"Quick… grab him!"
Hearing this, Abel almost thought he'd been found out.
But when he cautiously cracked an eye open, he saw the two soldiers had cornered a boy wearing a black-and-white spotted hat.
"This guy is… Law? Trafalgar Law?"
Abel recognized him instantly.
In this world, they had been members of the same church, and Abel had even treated Law's father for Amber Lead Disease.
So they were… childhood friends of a sort.
Realizing his past self had this connection with a future Supernova made Abel hesitate.
If he stayed put, he'd probably survive without being found.
But he'd gain nothing from it.
And his safety would depend entirely on the soldiers leaving soon—before the [I'm Just a Nobody] effect wore off—otherwise, anything could happen.
If he chose to help, he'd be putting himself at risk, though he was fairly confident he could get away unscathed.
He wasn't some saint who saved every stranger he saw.
So right now, he was weighing the cost of saving Law against what he could gain from it.
