Chapter 885 - Chapter 885

For the future of mutants, he had to strangle this threat in its cradle.

Yet when Magneto's powerful magnetic perception swept across the entire bridge area, he didn't find any military vehicles or equipment matching the intelligence report. Instead, his attention was caught by a bald man on the bridge, strolling along at an unhurried pace.

The man wore a cheap-looking yellow jumpsuit and seemed utterly ordinary at first glance.

But Magneto's razor-sharp instincts sensed something from him—something indescribable, contained to an extreme degree…

A threat.

Not magical.

Not technological.

A pure, physical pressure.

"It's him…" A harsh glint flashed in Magneto's eyes. "Disguised as an ordinary man? Hmph. You can't fool me! Humans really did create a monster!"

He didn't hesitate any longer. For mutant survival, he had to strike decisively. Erik threw both arms up

And a massive magnetic field instantly swallowed the entire Golden Gate Bridge.

"VMMMM—!!"

The miles-long steel bridge let out a tortured groan. The gigantic suspension cables began to shudder violently. Asphalt on the roadway cracked open, exposing the steel framework beneath. Then something terrifying happened

The bridge's main body was torn loose as if dismantled by an invisible giant hand. Metal twisted, warped, and gathered in midair into a devastating torrent of steel.

Thick beams, heavy plates, snapped cables…

Every piece of metal under Magneto's control moved like a living serpent, screeching as it ripped through the air, surging from all directions toward the lone bald figure on the bridge

Saitama

Intent on swallowing him whole and grinding him into nothing.

At the same time, far away in Westchester, New York, inside the Cerebro chamber at Xavier's School, Professor X felt the violent energy fluctuations coming from San Francisco, and Magneto's murderous intent. He immediately activated Cerebro, trying to reach Erik and stop a conflict that never needed to happen.

"Erik! Stop! You've got it wrong!" Charles's voice rang directly inside Magneto's mind.

"Charles, don't try to stop me! For mutants, I have to eliminate this threat!" Magneto replied, his actions not slowing in the slightest.

With no other choice, Charles turned to the target under attack, trying to calm him—or at least understand what was happening.

But the moment his telepathy extended toward Saitama, the professor encountered something he had never experienced before.

Empty.

A blank expanse.

It wasn't a psychic barrier.

It wasn't chaotic thoughts.

It was pure emptiness—like he wasn't touching a mind filled with complex thinking at all, but a vast, silent, bottomless…

open field.

Charles's formidable mental power sank like a stone into the sea, unable to stir even the faintest ripple. He couldn't sense any emotion, any memory, any thinking activity—even the basic pulse of life was so faint it was almost nonexistent.

"…How… is that possible?" For the first time, shock and confusion appeared on Charles's face. People who could resist his telepathy existed, but a presence this completely "empty" was unheard of. It overturned everything he understood about consciousness.

On the Golden Gate Bridge, Saitama looked at the steel storm thrashing across the sky, like a swarm of demons, about to smash down on him.

He stopped walking.

His expression still barely changed, but his eyes carried a clear annoyance at being interrupted.
