Chapter 883 - Chapter 883

Thousands of mass-produced mechanical soldiers surged up from underground like a metal tide. They charged fearlessly down Constitution Avenue toward key buildings like the White House and Capitol Hill. The energy weapons mounted on their arms spat dense volleys of lasers, effortlessly shredding vehicles, igniting buildings, and turning this solemn city into a bloody battlefield.

"Hold the line!" Captain America commanded through his mask, steady and resolute. The vibranium shield in his hand spun into an impenetrable defense, precisely batting away incoming laser beams. Now and then he hurled it with force, smashing a mechanical soldier into flying parts. But there were simply too many enemies. The shield's coverage was limited, and he had to keep moving—protecting the National Guard troops behind him as they tried to organize a counterattack.

"Tony, have you found their command node?" Steve shouted over comms.

"Still working on it! These tin cans look like they're being remotely controlled by a single signal source, but the encryption is weird—I need time!" Iron Man streaked through the sky at low altitude, repulsors and shoulder micro-missiles firing in rapid bursts to clear a small area—only for more mechanical soldiers to immediately fill the gap.

Black Widow moved like a dancer in the shadows, weaving through the robotic ranks. Her shock batons efficiently disabled one machine after another, but the enemy kept coming without end. Her stamina drained fast. The moment her motion slowed, a laser grazed her shoulder, scorching a corner of her suit.

"Their numbers aren't dropping at all!" Natasha gasped, sliding behind a burning car for cover.

The situation was dire. The mechanical legion's coordination and firepower far surpassed ordinary troops. They advanced step by step without regard for losses, on the verge of breaking through the outer perimeter and threatening the core of national power.

Right as the standoff reached its limit, a bald man in a yellow jumpsuit stood at the plaza beneath the Washington Monument, looking completely confused.

Saitama.

He'd heard Washington had a famous free museum and came to check it out. The moment he stepped off the long-distance bus, he ran straight into this sudden attack.

He stared at the fierce firefight, the lasers flying everywhere, the vehicles exploding, and the expressionless robots pushing forward in endless waves. His brows knit tighter and tighter.

"…Why is everything such a mess?" Saitama muttered irritably. "I just wanted to travel in peace."

He tried to skirt around the battle zone and head roughly in the museum's direction. But one mechanical soldier spotted this "straggler." Its red sensor locked on. It raised its arm

A scorching laser beam fired straight at Saitama.

Saitama seemed absentminded. Only when the laser was about to hit did he reflexively shift his body slightly. The beam sliced past the edge of his outfit, burning away a small patch of fabric at his sleeve.

Saitama stopped.

He looked down at the charred corner of his sleeve. His expression didn't change much, but a clear trace of irritation rose in his eyes.

"So loud." He lifted his head to look at the dense swarm of mechanical soldiers firing nonstop. His voice wasn't loud, yet it carried a calm that was somehow terrifying.

In the next moment, he bent his knees slightly

And then launched himself straight up with a powerful jump!
