Chapter 631 - Chapter 631

"We found some leftover rune marks and a faint spatial-coordinate signal at the edge of the altar pit in the church ruins. Director Nick believes it most likely points to the next possible location of a dark ritual, or… one of the sources behind summoning that 'Our Lord.' The situation is urgent, and we need you…"

"Next?" Saitama frowned, his face practically spelling out "trouble." "Wasn't it supposed to be over after we beat that 'Seven'? Why is there more?" He glanced at the sky, then patted his pocket—inside, besides the crystal, were a few crumpled bills he'd set aside for discounted beef.

"Unfortunately, darkness always seems to return," Phil said earnestly. "Our analysis suggests that the man in the black robe may have only been a pawn of some larger organization—or existence. The power he summoned by sacrificing himself, and the 'Our Lord' he spoke of, both imply a deeper threat lurking behind it all. Director Nick hopes you can come with us to investigate that coordinate point and crush the threat before it spreads. This concerns the safety of more ordinary people."

"More ordinary people…" Saitama repeated under his breath. He remembered the residents of Glenmore Town, hugging each other and crying with joy after surviving. Even though he felt supermarket discounts were important, stopping more people from running into that kind of bad luck seemed… more important. After all, if the world was full of monsters everywhere, how was a supermarket supposed to stay open?

He sighed, his shoulders drooping a little. "Fine, fine… Is that coordinate point far? How long will it take? The supermarket discount…"

"The coordinate point is in the middle of the Atlantic, in an uninhabited sea area along the edge of what's called the 'Bermuda Triangle,'" Phil replied quickly. "At full speed, the Quinjet will take about two hours. We'll finish as fast as possible and try not to delay your… uh, shopping." He worked hard to make his wording sound less strange.

"Two hours…" Saitama did the math. It felt like the discounted beef was really going to be gone, and his mood sank even more. "Alright. Just solve it fast."

He followed Phil onto the Quinjet. Inside the cabin, besides the well-trained SHIELD agents, there was also a middle-aged scientist in a white lab coat and glasses, analyzing the crystal's data on a portable instrument… When he saw Saitama enter, he pushed up his glasses, curiosity and awe shining in his eyes.

"Saitama-san, this is Dr. Leo Fitz, one of SHIELD's top experts in the science division, responsible for analyzing the crystal and those runes," Phil introduced.

Dr. Fitz looked a little nervous, but still gathered the courage to step forward. "Saitama-san, hello! The energy readings of this crystal… are incredible! And it's abnormally stable! How did you manage to, under an energy impact of that level…"

"I just punched once." Saitama found a seat and closed his eyes to rest, clearly uninterested in academic discussion. "Wake me up if something happens."

Dr. Fitz got choked off mid-sentence. He glanced at Phil, who gave him a look that said, "You'll get used to it."

The jet engines roared as it rapidly climbed and headed deep into the Atlantic. The cabin fell into brief silence, with only the faint hum of instruments running.

Phil sat opposite Saitama, watching this bald hero with his eyes closed. He looked ordinary—maybe even a bit lazy—but the power inside him was enough to make any enemy tremble in fear.
