Chapter 608 - Chapter 608

"It worked!"

From a distance, Natasha saw the behemoth collapse and a spark of excitement flashed through her eyes.

"The energy node on their backs is their core weakness!" Steve shouted, confirming the crucial intel and broadcasting it to every combat unit.

Saitama glanced at the fallen monster and nodded.

"Good. Then we focus our attacks there."

At last, a ray of victory had pierced through the gloom.

With the discovery of the fatal weakness—the energy nodes on their backs—the situation on the battlefield began to turn.

The Avengers' coordination grew ever more seamless:

Hawkeye's precise pinpoint shots, Black Widow's lethal disruption, Iron Man's brutal "can opener," Captain America's battlefield command, and Saitama's overwhelming frontal assault—

one alien giant beast after another toppled as their energy nodes were destroyed.

However, the monsters seemed endless.

They continued pouring in from several specific areas of the city, as if from an inexhaustible well.

"They've got a hive. Or some kind of teleportation device," Tony said, analyzing the origin points of the beasts using his armor's scans.

"The signal source is coming from the underground levels of that abandoned industrial park in Brooklyn. I'm picking up a massive anomalous energy reading down there!"

"We have to destroy the source. Otherwise we're just treating the symptoms, not the root problem," Steve said decisively.

He turned to Saitama.

"Mr. Saitama, we need a small team to infiltrate their base and destroy the core."

"No problem."

Saitama flicked the sticky slime—some kind of monster bodily fluid—off his fist and answered crisply,

"Let's go. If we finish early, I can still make it back in time to cook dinner."

Before long, an elite infiltration squad was assembled:

Saitama as the absolute main force;

Steve, Captain America, in charge of tactical command and close-quarters support;

Natasha, Black Widow, responsible for scouting, trap disposal, and assassinations;

Tony, Iron Man, providing aerial reconnaissance, fire support, and tech hacking;

and Clint, Hawkeye, remaining at a high vantage point on the perimeter, tasked with long-range overwatch and support.

Avoiding the front-line battlefield, they slipped quietly into the abandoned industrial park in Brooklyn, the entire area now shrouded by the monsters' energy field.

The park was deathly silent.

The air reeked of ozone and a thick, biological stench.

Huge black metal constructs, utterly different from Earth technology in design, stood like tombstones, bathed in a dim blue glow.

Squads of alien giant beasts patrolled along fixed routes like machines, their compound eyes flickering with a wary red light.

"Three o'clock, one patrol unit, fifty meters out and closing," Natasha whispered, her body pressed flat against a wall like living shadow.

"Avoid contact," Steve signaled, gesturing with his hand.

Using the rubble and darkness as cover, the team moved like ghosts.

Saitama wasn't exactly skilled at stealth, but his incredible speed and reflexes allowed him to match their rhythm perfectly—

he could even predict the blind spots in the patrols' line of sight ahead of time.

Their advance inward was anything but smooth.

They ran into concealed energy tripwires that, once triggered, spewed highly corrosive acid mist.

There were gravity traps disguised as ordinary ground that could instantly crush a person flat.

There were also automatic defense laser grids woven into deadly barriers.

But with Tony's tech hacking, Natasha's nimble disarming skills,

and Saitama's unreasonable "just walk straight through and the trap breaks" approach,

every one of these obstacles was overcome.

"Strong energy reaction ahead," Tony's sensors pinged a warning.

"That should be the core area. But security is tight—at least twenty giant beasts, and… some kind of stronger energy reading mixed in."
