That brief pause was immediately picked up by the hyper-alert monsters.
Several flying bats and two massive elite spider beasts shrieked like sharks smelling blood and kicked into overdrive, hurtling toward him in a tight rush, trying to completely swallow him up.
"All right, come on then."
The corner of Saitama's mouth twitched the tiniest bit. It wasn't really a smile—more like… the relief of finally being able to save himself some trouble.
This time, he didn't dodge them at extreme speed or casually smack them away like before. Instead, he deliberately made a move that looked like he was being "forced back."
His feet pushed off the ground and his body shot sideways—
The angle he chose just happened to put a portion of the main body's exposed core directly along the line between him and the incoming monsters as he moved.
Thump!
A huge spider pincer, trailing a nasty gust of wind, stabbed down, grazing the hem of his cloak and punching into the concrete. The supposedly solid ground was gouged into a deep pit. The two bats trailing it were already almost on top of him.
At that split second, Saitama's body twisted in an odd spin—not retreating, but making another subtle adjustment to his angle.
Using the centrifugal force of his spin, he drove a perfectly measured kick into the side of the nearest giant spider monster's armored shell.
Boom!!!
That heavy elite spider, about the size and weight of a small car, was launched into the air by what looked like a light, casual kick!
Its flight trajectory was dead-on—
It hurtled straight into the other large spider that had just lunged in front of Saitama and was about to spew a wave of corrosive webbing.
Rumble!
The two huge, armored beasts slammed into each other midair with no finesse at all, like two runaway cargo trucks colliding head-on.
The crunch of shattering exoskeletons, the crack of breaking bones, the disgusting hiss and splatter of spraying fluids all fused into one cacophony.
The massive impact sent them both tumbling end over end like two out-of-control bowling balls, smashing hard into the purple-glowing mycelium defense wall behind them.
When their enormous bodies hit the barrier, they also crushed several smaller monsters behind it that hadn't dodged in time.
"Ah! Oops, my bad."
Saitama called out a half-hearted apology the moment his "misdirect" landed, putting on a fake flustered tone. His face, however, stayed as expressionless as ever.
His "oops" tactic triggered a chain reaction.
The bowling-ball collision of the two giant elite spiders slammed brutally into the purple energy-hardened mycelium barrier.
The wall's physical defense was incredible—but having two huge masses carrying that much kinetic energy crash into it at once still went beyond what its "perfect shock dispersion" setup could handle.
The purple light at the point of impact flickered violently, flashing in and out as it gave off a harsh buzzing sound of overloaded energy.
The hard shell-like coating on its surface instantly spiderwebbed with dense cracks.
What made it worse was the mess that came right after.
The shattered monster flesh and blood splashed all over the barrier. Thick, corrosive bodily fluids mixed with disgusting chunks of tissue flowed down into those cracks, seeping deep into the gaps and putting even more strain on the barrier's structure.
"Hiiisss—!"
The fungal cap main body let out a psychic screech, tinged with both pain and rage.
This sudden external impact completely exceeded the main body's own processing limits.
Most of its "attention" was already being poured into keeping a tight, high-intensity command grip on the monster horde while also resisting Steve's squad's sustained firepower barrage.
Now, the very "pieces" it was commanding had been hijacked and turned into battering rams smashing its own defenses.
That kind of logical contradiction sent the processing center at its core into immediate overload.
In that instant, its control over the entire battlefield sprouted a dozen or so tiny, fleeting gaps.
