Rumble-rumble-rumble————!!!
A six-story apartment building, already shaken to its limits by the earlier fighting and on the verge of collapse, took the monster's massive flying body head-on.
It was like a sandcastle struck by a giant battering ram.
The entire structure let out a long, dying groan as its load-bearing frame was completely pulverized. Wrapped in a storm of dust and flying chunks of brick and concrete, it caved in with a deafening crash!
The monster was buried entirely beneath the rubble, its enormous body crushed under the ruins. From below came only broken, muffled roars laced with labored, pained breathing and the faint sounds of futile struggle.
The street… finally fell into a brief, gasping silence.
As the dust slowly settled, Natasha leaned out from behind a broken section of wall. She stared at the massive pile of ruins, then at Saitama, who had just withdrawn his fist, and at Steve, who was struggling back to his feet, using his shield to prop himself up.
Her eyes were full of tangled shock.
High above, Clint let out a long breath, his fingers trembling slightly as he relaxed the bowstring. Only then did he realize his back was soaked in cold sweat.
That all-or-nothing team-up just now had felt like dancing on the edge of a knife, every second.
"Reporting in, the target has taken severe damage! It's temporarily lost the ability to move!" Natasha quickly relayed to headquarters, her voice carrying a trace of exhausted hoarseness.
Saitama glanced toward the ruins, then turned his head to look at Steve, who was still leaning on his shield, adjusting his breathing.
He walked over and asked seriously, "You okay? Thanks for just now."
Steve shook out his arms, which were still numb and burning with sharp pain, then gave a tired but genuine smile. "As long as I could help, that's enough. You're the one who…"
He looked at Saitama's suit, which barely had any dust on it at all, and at his completely uninjured state.
The words "real hero" got stuck in his throat.
That level of power… it wasn't something that could be described with the word "hero" anymore.
"Just call me Saitama," Saitama nodded, as if Steve's answer had fully confirmed he was fine. His attention shifted back almost immediately to the heap of rubble that was still faintly shifting and letting out pained roars.
"The supermarket's got… about thirty minutes left?"
Steve: "…"
Sometimes, this man's train of thought was just… extremely practical.
However, the danger was not over yet.
Boom-boom-boom————!!!
The enormous mound of ruins suddenly began to shake violently!
With an ear-splitting roar, a surge of purple-black energy far more oppressive and berserk than before—like a storm blowing in from the depths of the abyss—erupted from deep within the rubble!
The shockwave swept across everything. Piled-up mountains of concrete and steel bars were ripped free and flung into the air by the raging power!
The entire block was suddenly caught in a deadly rainstorm of falling stone.
"Watch out!"
Steve raised his shield at once, stepping in to cover himself, Saitama, and the approaching Natasha as the deadly downpour came crashing down.
