Chapter 3 - One must respond to kindness with kindness. Meeting with Collapsal

The awakening was surprisingly difficult. Did I lose a lot of blood? At this thought, I opened my eyes. Looking around, I froze. After all, I found myself on a mountain of corpses.

"Did I do this? Did the bloodlust consume me? No, black blood was flowing out of them, but I clearly remembered that their blood was red, and I wouldn't have left even a drop of blood in such a state." These thoughts made me frown, and I decided to examine the bodies more carefully.

"The bodies… gutted? No, it's something else. There are no organs, but I can't understand how they were removed. It's impossible to do that through these wounds." I frowned and opened the nearest corpse.

"The organs seem to have evaporated, hmm, or were they sucked directly out of the body? But what are these dark spots on their skin? They're not livid spots, something else… Do I sense magic?" And then I noticed blood on my armor, my blood.

After that, I stood up abruptly, pulled out my sword, and began to look around more closely. Then my gaze caught a severed head — my head. Next to it were hands embedded in a red mineral (frozen claw), and the area was shrouded in black mist, from which I felt pressure on my mind. I hadn't noticed it at first, but as soon as I went down to examine my head, I entered this mist, and I felt heaviness in my mind, as if something was trying to penetrate it.

When I got to my head, I frowned.

"Why didn't I appear in my coffin?" After each death, I appeared in my coffin in the castle without any clothes. This happened after every death. There was not a single case where I woke up right on the battlefield. To kill a creature like me, you need to destroy its coffin or have it eaten by its kin. There was no other way to kill a vampire in my world. Well, except for divine magic, but that was based on texts in churches. In reality, I had never seen such a thing.

"Is it because I ate the progenitor?" I said thoughtfully. And then my gaze caught strange flowers that I hadn't seen yesterday. They… they looked ordinary at first glance, but the longer I looked at them, the more alien they appeared. Placing my head on the ground, I decided to pull one of the flowers.

"It has no roots? How does it bloom?" I exclaimed in amazement. I grew flowers for my potions, so I could say for sure — THIS was abnormal.

I was about to get up when I suddenly noticed strange blood on the fangs of the severed head. It was similar to the blood of the dead behind me, but this was much darker. Touching this blood, fragments of memory surfaced in my consciousness.

Here I am drinking with the archosaurs, and then I start to feel nauseous. Me! The undead! But then I didn't pay much attention to it, attributing it to an unknown drink.

A new fragment began with a massacre. Here I am drinking with the archosaur as if nothing had happened, and then instead of his head appears a fucking black hole, and his machete is stuck in my neck.

These fragments appeared in my memory too quickly, and I couldn't even understand half of them, except for the last one.

I was able to kill all the changed archosaurs and tried to save the others until I was captured.

A black shapeless creature with many eyes, surrounded by black mist through which I couldn't see anything. The limbs resembled human ones, but they were so deformed that they were terrifying.

My mind was clouded, my body didn't listen to me, and there were thousands of voices in my head, preventing me from concentrating on magic. I managed to stab him with my sword when I felt the approach of my death, but he didn't seem to notice it. Because of this, I struck him with my head in rage and then bit into his neck or its подобие, I wasn't sure — a desperate attempt I made on pure vampire instincts when I realized that I no longer controlled my body.

And the memories stopped; I dropped the head, and it, spinning a little on the ground, began to turn to ash.

Composing myself, I looked at the mountain of archosaur bodies that had so hospitably accepted me.

"I couldn't help even one of them," and then I noticed a bloody mist in the air that was heading deeper into the jungle (a game ability to track bosses). A monstrous grin appeared on my face.

"But I can avenge you. After all, good deeds must be repaid with good deeds."

After these words, and with a monstrous smile, the vampire began to move through the bloody mist, which led him deeper and deeper into the black fog.
