Chapter 27 - Pills and Ambition

The next day, Bai Tian walked toward the outer students' dormitory area. Rows of buildings stood neatly, but there was not much difference from his previous dormitory. The only difference was that the atmosphere here felt quieter, yet more orderly.

He entered his new room and read the scroll of information he had been given.

After reading it for quite a while, Bai Tian finally understood. The dormitory he was staying in now was indeed free. However, if he wanted a more comfortable place or better facilities, he would have to pay a certain number of points each month. The sect's learning system was quite flexible. Mentors usually taught general knowledge regularly, but special classes such as alchemy, forging, sword training, and other disciplines could only be attended by paying additional points.

"Hmm… so this is the system." Bai Tian exhaled deeply. Although slightly inconvenient, the rules seemed reasonable.

After putting away the scroll, the fatigue from the past few days finally overwhelmed him. He lay down on his new bed. It did not take long before his eyes closed, and he sank into a peaceful sleep.

The next morning,

Bai Tian woke up early. After freshening up, he sat cross-legged on his new bed and began sorting through the loot from the secret realm.

The first thing he checked was the ring given by Xuan Ying'er. Slowly, he channeled his energy into the ring. As soon as his consciousness entered, Bai Tian was stunned.

The storage space inside the ring was almost full—and it was dominated by high-level spirit stones. The number even reached thousands!

"This… is a lot." Bai Tian exhaled deeply.

It should be noted that even core sect disciples usually received only about a hundred high-level spirit stones as official allowance. But that strange girl… she was truly immersed in wealth. No wonder many considered her a "rich girl"—she indeed had the means to act like that.

After calming himself, Bai Tian continued exploring the ring's contents. He found several low-level skill scrolls, some spiritual fruits, and various rare herbs. Some of them he immediately recognized as plants that usually grew on the Silver Light Peak.

Time passed slowly until almost all the loot had been examined. Now, Bai Tian's attention turned to a set of other rings—the rings of the five people who had once chased him desperately.

"Hmph, you even risked your lives for this. There must really be something extraordinary inside."

With curiosity, Bai Tian channeled his consciousness into the rings. The longer he examined, the deeper his confusion grew. There was nothing special—only empty space.

His eyebrows furrowed. "Impossible. They wouldn't act so crazily for something trivial…"

Even though he found nothing unusual, Bai Tian did not intend to waste more time. He decided to store the rings for the time being.

After tidying everything up, he stood, changed his clothes, and went out of the dormitory. This time, his destination was the sect library. If there was something he did not understand, perhaps the answer could be found there.

At the library, Bai Tian returned the books and scrolls he had borrowed, then used his points to borrow several books on weapons and herbal medicine. After that, he went to attend general classes.

Spirit Peak was the only place in the Outer Sect where students could be found. It was where Outer Sect disciples traded and sold goods. The place had a nine-story commercial building directly managed by the sect. All essential supplies needed by students were available there.

After finishing his class, Bai Tian went to Spirit Peak. He spent 1,300 points on the first floor to buy a Pill Refining Furnace capable of automatically adjusting spiritual fire, and hundreds of additional points to buy various herbs for practice.

With great enthusiasm, Bai Tian played with the mini Pill Refining Furnace in his hands.

"Luckily, I still have about a hundred points left. Otherwise, I could only buy the most basic Pill Refining Furnace, which I heard is very difficult to use."

Previously, Bai Tian had asked a Senior Brother who also studied its properties. He heard that the lowest-level furnace was deliberately made to give Outer Sect disciples who did not have many points a chance, simply so that they knew poverty did not prevent someone from walking the historic path.

The next day,

Bai Tian departed with great determination for Taixueling Peak.

"If I had this dedication back then, I might have already become a famous alchemist," he murmured.

"Just wait. Once I step on the path to the strongest, I will definitely return."

Bai Tian's eyes filled with determination.

Pavilion of Pills, Taixueling Peak

"Tuition is five medium-level spirit stones plus 100 points. That's only for a single session. The course lasts for one year," explained a part-time student who was at the registration desk.

"Once you become a junior alchemist and can make Third-Level Pills, you can join the Elixir Hall."

The learning area was a vast courtyard, more than ten hectares, similar to a large school in Bai Tian's previous life.

At the entrance, a main disciple saluted him.

"I have already informed you of the general rules you need to follow. I hope you will soon become a Master Alchemist."

Bai Tian returned the salute politely.

With his newly received token, he found the classroom assigned to him. The classroom was over one hundred square meters, with ten seats and pill furnaces neatly arranged at the front.

As Bai Tian entered, he was greeted by a graceful and beautiful woman. Her beauty was stunning, but what was more striking was a rare aura she had—a combination of dedication and sternness.

"Hello, young disciple. Are you new here to learn?" she asked.

"Yes. My name is Xio Tian. How should I address you, Senior?" Bai Tian replied with a polite smile.

"Shaniang, the substitute instructor here. If my teacher is unavailable, I usually take over," she answered coldly, her eyes staring straight at the simple-looking new student in front of her.

"Do you have any questions?" Shaniang continued.

"No, Senior. I'm just worried that if I fall behind in lessons, how can I catch up? Since the class is in groups," Bai Tian said, scratching his head.

"That's not a problem. The initial stages of all lessons are basic. I also have several recordings. If needed, I can provide extra lessons."

"Alright, it's time. I will begin the lecture. Listen carefully, young disciple," Shaniang said with a faint smile.

Her presence made Bai Tian nervous. In his previous life, he had been an ordinary bookworm who rarely interacted with women.

He then sat in the provided seat, exchanging glances with the other students, totaling ten including himself, filling all the seats.

"Now, let us discuss the importance of Primary Processing in refining Spiritual Medicines. Perfection at this stage determines the final quality of an elixir," Shaniang began her lecture.

"First, allow me to explain the most basic technique. The first step is to extract its essence…"

The official alchemy course began, and Bai Tian focused his full attention on the lecture.

Half a month passed.
