"Hey, little sister, you don't look Chinese, right? Mixed race? How about we introduce ourselves?" The young woman among the newcomers suddenly addressed Su Yu.
With silver-white hair and delicate features, Su Yu didn't look Chinese at all—more like a character straight out of an anime.
Keeping up a cool façade, Su Yu replied, "My name is Su Yu. I used to be a college student, and now I'm a traveler between worlds."
"College student?" The young woman's eyes widened in surprise. "Little sister, are you a genius? Traveling the world at such a young age? That's amazing."
"I'm not that young. I'm already twenty-one. And I hate being called 'little sister.'" Su Yu's tone was sharp, but the angry look only made her seem more endearing—downright cute, in fact.
"Ahhh?" The reincarnators stared at Su Yu in shock.
"Your eyes are very rude," Su Yu said, glaring at them.(Really fierce? Are you sure you're not just trying to be cute?)
"Haha… By the way, little sister, where did you learn martial arts like that?" The young woman gave a nervous laugh.
At her question, Su Yu's eyes sparkled mischievously. "Tianshan [Heavenly Mountain]," she answered with a playful smile.
Everyone froze. After a moment, the young woman was the first to react. "Can I ask the name of the technique you learned?"
"Sure. I'm the only master of the Eight Desolations and Six Harmonies style," Su Yu said, feigning innocence.
"Is that from Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils?" the woman asked in surprise.
"Yep, that's the one."
No wonder she's twenty-one and still so young, everyone thought sarcastically.
"Well, I'm a bit surprised Sister Su Yu has such a strong background," the young woman said at last, breaking the silence. "Let me introduce myself. My name is Zhan Lan [Zhan from 'Zhan Tianyou,' Lan from 'mountain breeze blue']. I'm just an ordinary person—not like Sister Su Yu. I'm a writer. I always complained about lacking inspiration… then I came to this world. I guess it's karma."
Next, we were introduced to Holy Mother Zheng Zha [Zheng from 'Zheng Chenggong,' Zha from 'Nezha']. "I'm a company supervisor. I never expected internal energy to be a real thing."
The next introduction came from a middle-aged uncle… and so on, until everyone had spoken. Before long, Zhang Jie and Kaplan, who had gone ahead to scout, returned with good news: they'd found a route forward.
Since the lab's water couldn't be drained quickly, Matthew Addison decided to take the new path. According to the map, it was longer but would pass through Restaurant B. Anyone who'd seen Resident Evil 1 knew Restaurant B was where the Lickers were stored—a hundred times more terrifying than zombies.
After walking for some time, we stopped before a closed iron gate. Beyond it was Restaurant B. Just thinking about the sleeping Lickers made the reincarnators uneasy; even Zhang Jie's hand moved instinctively toward his pistol. The only one completely unfazed was Su Yu.
The mercenaries opened the gate without trouble. Thankfully, the Lord God hadn't decided to release the Lickers yet—inside were only cold-air containers, each holding one of the creatures in hibernation.
"Is this Restaurant B?" Matthew Addison frowned at the mercenary guiding them. It didn't look like any restaurant.
"I'm not sure, sir. But that's what the map says."
"Maybe there are secrets here the company doesn't want the outside world to know," Matt suggested.
The black captain shot him a glance but said nothing. "J, Ren, watch the prisoner and guard the exit."
They nodded.
"No poisonous gas here. Might just be a system glitch," reported the female mercenary in the lead, scanning the area.
"Good. That means there could be survivors. Search thoroughly, but don't stray too far," Addison ordered.
The mercenaries spread out.
"Hey, Zhang Jie, I've got a question," Zhan Lan said suddenly.
"Hm? What is it?" he asked.
"We all know these containers are full of Lickers. If we planted plastic explosives and destroyed them before they woke up, we could earn thousands of points, right?"
"You're smart," Zhang Jie admitted with a smile. "But do you think the mercenaries will let you do that? Plant explosives here, and they'll kill you before you finish. And if they don't, the Lickers might wake early and kill us all."
Seeing their alarm, he added coldly, "Never underestimate the Lord God. It won't give us an easy out. We survive by charging into danger. Our biggest advantage is knowing the plot. If anyone changes it for points and puts us at risk… I won't hesitate to send them to hell first."
Leaving them in uneasy silence, Zhang Jie walked away. Su Yu watched with disdain. She knew Zhang Jie was lying—changing the plot could indeed yield big rewards. He just didn't want to share.
Meanwhile, Addison finished his search and ordered the team forward. Soon we reached another iron gate—the central computer control room. Kaplan worked at the terminal, fingers flying.
"This is the Red Queen's security system… Alright, I'm in!"
The steel door slid open.
"Perfect. Bring the device in. You all wait here," Addison said, stepping through alone.
The corridor beyond was narrow and lined with mirrored glass walls.
"This is the legendary points corridor," Su Yu murmured. "Special enough, alright."
Halfway down, the dark passage suddenly lit up. Addison froze.
"Don't worry, sir—it's just an automatic sensor light," Kaplan said over comms.
Automatic sensor light? More like a laser grid that could slice you into ribbons, the reincarnators thought grimly.
Moments later, Addison called for the device. Zheng Zha protested, sensing danger. Addison waved him and a middle-aged man inside anyway.
The man panicked, bolted back, and was gunned down instantly. His body hit the ground riddled with holes. Several newcomers vomited; even Su Yu's face paled.
"I'll go too," Su Yu offered suddenly. "In case you need backup." Addison agreed—he'd seen her fight.
They entered together. A few steps in, heavy iron doors slammed shut at both ends.
"What's going on?!" Addison barked.
"Dormant defenses just activated!" Kaplan's voice was tense.
Lights dimmed. A thin red laser shot across the hall. Addison shoved Su Yu and Zheng Zha down in time. Su Yu pulled a dazed medic to the floor, then, as more lasers formed, dragged two mercenaries toward the gate and slammed her fist into it. The metal dented but didn't break.
Seeing the deadly laser net advancing, Su Yu struck again—this time tearing through the gate and denting the aluminum wall beyond. She yanked the medic and mercenaries through just as Zheng Zha pulled Addison out. The laser net vanished a moment later.
System notifications rang out:
Rescue of medical soldier: +3,000 points, Level-Grade side plot!
Rescue of mercenary: +1,500 points, Level-Grade side plot!
Rescue of Mercenary B: +1,500 points, side plot!
Su Yu grinned inwardly. Legendary points corridor, indeed.
