Chapter 45 - Chapter 45: Impressions of the Guild Members

A few days later, in the Fairy Tail guild hall.

"So bored. Why haven't Rayn and little Kanna come to the guild?" Carolin lay on the table, a cup in one hand, spinning it gently on the surface, making a 'gurgle gurgle' sound. If she hadn't heard from the master that Rayn hadn't taken a mission yet, she would have suspected the boy was no longer in Magnolia.

"I heard the master is teaching him Giant Magic. He should be training hard now, right?"

"That kid is the type who works so hard it makes me feel pressured."

"Indeed. At this rate, I feel like he'll surpass me soon."

"As a senior, it's a bit embarrassing."

"Tch, haven't you already been surpassed by Laxus?"

Carolin's words immediately drew responses from the others. In front of the hardworking boy, they inexplicably felt a sense of urgency and guilt. Urgency because they were afraid of being surpassed by him soon. Guilt because he was working so hard while they were taking it easy.

"How come I heard the master only taught him for a day before coming back?" Wakaba asked, stroking his beard, a little puzzled. He had just returned from a mission, and he had only heard about these things from other guild members.

"The master was hit hard. He came back and found me for a drink, both happy and sad," Gildarts said, recalling the situation that day. His smile gradually became strange.

That day, Makarov came back with a big smile on his face. He thought the master had had some romantic encounter. After asking curiously, he found out that he had originally planned to teach Rayn magic. After just explaining and demonstrating once, Rayn had easily learned it. The explanations he had prepared were completely useless.

"Is Rayn that amazing?" Hearing Gildarts's words, Wakaba looked surprised.

"Speaking of little Rayn, have you guys heard something?" a female mage next to him suddenly became interested, her eyes sparkling with a playful smile.

"What?" Carolin stopped what she was doing and looked at her friend. The others also looked over curiously

"I heard that recently, there's a kid in town who often carries a greatsword taller than him to the plains early in the morning," the female mage said, not keeping them in suspense. She directly shared the rumor she had heard while shopping recently.

"In that case, it can't be said to be Rayn, right?" Carolin was a little confused. How was this related to Rayn? The others also nodded in agreement.

"Tsk tsk," the female mage said, wagging her index finger, a mysterious smile on her lips.

"What if he has a cute kid with him?"

"Ah... then it seems it's Rayn."

"Yes, that's right. It can only be him."

With this condition, the others no longer doubted the truth of this information. Now, everyone in the guild knew. If it was just one person, it could only be Rayn. But with a child, the probability of it being Rayn increased dramatically. After all, the two were inseparable.

So, in the guild, whenever Rayn was mentioned, it was not just Rayn's figure that came to mind, but also Kanna's.

"Is Rayn using that kind of weapon?" Carolin asked, tapping her chin. She really couldn't associate Rayn with a greatsword. Although the child's face was still a bit childish, his features were vaguely handsome. And such a handsome boy was using a greatsword...

"Oh no... it seems unexpectedly cool." Carolin stopped tapping her chin, her eyes starting to sparkle.

"Right, right!" The female mage from before immediately showed a look of agreement.

"Hiss."

Taking a deep breath of his cigar, Wakaba recalled the boy's posture in the valley. He didn't feel surprised at all.

"Hasn't the master come yet?" the boy's clear voice sounded.

A slightly heavy footstep echoed in everyone's ears. Everyone turned to look at the door. Two familiar figures were walking towards the hall.

A mage who was sensitive to spiritual perception's expression suddenly changed. In their perception, it was not Rayn and Kanna who were walking over. Instead, it was a magical beast that had polished its claws and teeth and was gradually revealing itself.

But this feeling quickly disappeared. However, they all knew that this was not their own abnormality. It was Rayn's aura that had changed in the past few days. The initial contact had had such an impact on them.

Although the others did not have their perception, they all felt the change in Rayn. If the previous Rayn looked a bit harmless, then now his sharpness was gradually revealed. Some mages even felt a sense of danger.

"Oh?"

Gildarts's eyes lit up, a playful smile on his lips. He directly waved his hand and said, "It's been a few days, Rayn. You look good."

"A little progress," Rayn said, looking at the greasy middle-aged uncle. He knew what he meant. The five days of training had not only improved his magic and physique, but more importantly, he had successfully mastered Giant Magic and could use it without making mistakes. Of course, this was for his adult form. If it was a real giant, he still needed to train. He had also gotten the hang of the greatsword behind him. Although he couldn't lift it as if it were light, he could still smash it down with the weight of a thousand pounds.

"Little Kanna, did you miss your big sister?" Carolin didn't care about those things. She had already run to Kanna and squatted down, asking with a smile.

"No," the very straightforward answer made Carolin turn gray. For her, who liked children, this blow was a bit big.

"Sister Carolin, hasn't the master arrived yet?" Seeing Carolin's grayness, Rayn quickly spoke up to distract her.

"He's probably organizing the missions, but he should be here soon," hearing Rayn's question, Carolin quickly recovered from her disappointment and said cheerfully.

Then she stood up and looked at the boy in front of her. The hilt of the sword on his back was almost a head taller than him. The white cloth strip on the hilt swayed gently as he walked, as if it would be unsheathed at any moment. It looked very strange, but it also had a contrasting wild impact.

"Why did you choose this kind of weapon?" Carolin asked, walking around Rayn and looking at him.

"Ordinary weapons are a bit light, and this one looks cool," Rayn said. Seeing that the master hadn't arrived yet, he didn't rush to the mission wall.

"I didn't expect you to be a strong boy," Carolin said, pinching Rayn's arm. She felt the firmness and raised her eyebrows.

Although she seemed a bit like a pervert when facing Kanna, she was a qualified mage. When she saw Rayn come in just now, she noticed that his movements were not strange. It was obvious that this weapon was still within his acceptable range, and not just to attract attention.

"Yo, Rayn, you're back?" As they were talking, Makarov's slightly surprised voice came from the second floor.
