Chapter 210 - Depart *

(For some shameless self promotion I decided to give you a bonus chapter)

"In the past month alone, there have been four Kaiju incursions, all of which were joint operations by multiple Kaiju. The most recent one even saw two Category V Kaiju appear simultaneously."

Inside the jaeger base, General Stacker was communicating with the companies that manufactured the jaegers.

"If it weren't for the Universal Union, we would once again resort to the unrestrained use of nuclear weapons to eliminate these Kaiju, which would play right into the Precursors' hands. So, tell me, what's the progress on the new jaeger builds?"

"General Stacker, you should know that the construction cycle for all jaegers starts at one year, and only one month has passed."

"Tell me the progress."

Stacker repeated.

"12%, 15%, 10%."

Each manufacturer reported the construction progress of their respective jaegers.

This was actually an optimistic estimate, as Stacker required all jaegers to be the latest fifth-generation models, making construction quite difficult.

"Speed up the progress; this is for all of humanity and Earth."

With that, Stacker hung up the communication.

Stacker didn't mean to blame the manufacturers; limited by current production capacity and technological levels, Earth indeed found it difficult to build combat-capable jaegers in a short time.

However, not all news over the past month was bad, brought by Kaiju incursions.

Just a few days ago, the United Nations General Assembly finally convened.

Representatives from various countries argued fiercely over the issue of political unification.

The most crucial point was who would lead the unified government.

Fortunately, the imminent crisis of the Precursors' invasion, with four multi-Kaiju incursions occurring in a single month, forced these politicians to reach a compromise.

This was a form similar to the United Government in the Biohazard World.

While preserving most of each country's independent autonomy, a more powerful Earth Government with jurisdiction would be established based on the existing United Nations.

As expected, the leadership of the Earth Government would consist of those five countries.

Small and medium-sized countries that lacked the ability to build jaegers and could only suffer Kaiju incursions naturally supported this proposal.

The only ones who had reservations and expressed opposition were some countries that considered themselves great powers but were, in fact, delusional. However, after being coerced and enticed by the Five Permanent Members, these countries quickly recognized reality and agreed to the formation of the Earth Government.

"Earth Government, huh? Forget it; even if these people were given a few more years, it would be impossible to truly establish a fully unified government."

On the Ishimura, Marcus looked at the news of the Earth Government's formation, shook his head, and then said to Alex.

"The mission of bringing the Earth Government into the Universal Union will be entrusted to you and Admiral Kotch. Oh, and for now, do not tell the Earth Government about the existence of other worlds. We don't know if the Precursors have spies on Earth yet."

"Yes."

Alex nodded in agreement.

"Oh, by the way, take those Na'vi soldiers with you too. It's time for them to make an appearance."

Before leaving, Marcus added an extra remark.

A large number of small spacecraft detached from the Ishimura and flew towards Earth.

The spacecraft broke through the atmosphere and then landed at the Iwo Jima outpost base.

Alex then found Admiral Kotch, the captain of the Olympus Mons, and informed him of the orders from Marcus.

"This is unnecessary. We should directly inform the Earth Government that they are already governed by the Universal Union, rather than wasting time and effort on negotiations."

Admiral Kotch, who once believed in Social Darwinism, scoffed at this.

"This is a mission order, and the Universal Union is not the SDF you once belonged to."

Alex reminded him indifferently.

Just as Alex was confirming the details of this mission with Admiral Kotch,

Below the Olympus Mons, those one thousand Na'vi soldiers stepped out of the spacecraft's hatch.

"This is another world?"

Looking at the scene on Iwo Jima and the endless ocean outside, some Na'vi expressed confusion.

To them, it seemed no different from Pandora.

Only a slight discomfort in breathing reminded them that this was indeed no longer the Pandora they were familiar with.

Due to physiological differences, Na'vi in an environment suitable for human breathing need to occasionally breathe air components similar to those on Pandora through a breathing mask.

"Assemble!"

The PDF officer in charge of leading this group of Na'vi soldiers gathered all the Na'vi.

"Squad 1, Squad 2, are responsible for garrisoning this Iwo Jima base.

Squad 3, Squad 4, Squad 5, will board the Olympus Mons later. You will then be under the command of Admiral Kotch.

Squad 6, Squad 7, Squad 8, Squad 9, Squad 10, board the other spacecraft. You will be deployed to the other five outpost bases."

After explaining their destinations, the officer proactively called Knightley.

After fierce competition, Knightley successfully defeated other competitors and earned the qualification to pilot the Na'vi-shaped jaeger.

"Your jaeger has been assembled and will arrive here soon. Your mission is to pilot the jaeger, board the Olympus Mons, and then follow the orders of Sub-officer Alex."

"Yes!"

Soon, a large number of spacecraft, carrying a total of six jaegers, broke through the atmosphere and landed at the Iwo Jima base.

Knightley immediately focused on the Na'vi-shaped jaeger among them.

Even she couldn't help but exclaim.

The metallic behemoth and the Na'vi posture were perfectly integrated, giving this jaeger a unique aesthetic that conformed to Na'vi sensibilities.

"Give that jaeger a name. This is a privilege for your first batch of pilots; subsequent pilots will not have this privilege."

The officer also looked up at the magnificent divine machine.

"Pandora, its name is Pandora."

Without hesitation, Knightley blurted out.

"Alright, you can go board it now. Before the mission begins, you need to familiarize yourself with piloting the jaeger."

The officer manipulated the RIG device in his hand, submitted the name "Pandora," and it was quickly approved.

Entering the cockpit, Knightley quickly donned the pilot suit specially designed for Na'vi, following the instructions from her previous training.

This specialized jaeger required significant effort from the Tech-Priest and the Ishimura's research department.

To fully leverage the Na'vi's physical advantages, they specifically created a neural interface for this jaeger.

This allowed Na'vi pilots to control the jaeger through neural connection, just as they would ride various flying and walking beasts on Pandora.

After connecting to the neural interface, a strange sensation instantly swept through Knightley's entire body.

It was as if she and Pandora had become one.

"The surrounding area has been cleared. You can try making various slight movements first."

"Received."

Knightley tried moving her arms.

Under the conduction of the advanced neural interface, Pandora responded almost without any delay, immediately performing the corresponding actions.

After a few simple movements like raising her hands, punching, and walking, Knightley quickly adapted to the unique feeling of controlling the jaeger.

As a pilot chosen from thousands, Knightley's jaeger piloting talent was unparalleled.

"Alright, you can now draw your weapons and get used to them. Also, that tail is also a weapon."

As her voice fell, Pandora swung its arms, and two short spears immediately extended.

After combining them, Knightley immediately swung them with powerful force.

For a moment, an illusion suddenly appeared.

It was as if she was still in the rainforest on Pandora, wielding a wooden spear.

New York, United Nations Headquarters building, now to be called the Earth Government Headquarters building.

At this moment, due to the formation of the Earth Government, the number of people inside the building was surging.

All countries on Earth had sent representatives, gathering together.

They were discussing the issues the Earth Government would face and need to solve after its formation.

The most pressing issue was naturally the Kaiju problem, which is to say, the Precursors' invasion.

And what attitude the Universal Union would show when facing the Earth Government.

"the Universal Union definitely knows about the formation of the Earth Government. The only thing we can do now is wait for the Universal Union to contact us first."

In a secret conference room, the true decision-makers of the Earth Government, the representatives of the five permanent members, were gathered.

"We don't even know if the Earth Government meets the Universal Union's unified standards."

The British representative voiced the uncertainty in everyone's hearts.

"This is already the result of our best efforts."

The American representative shook his head, a little helpless.

"Regardless, let's first focus our main efforts on the Precursors' invasion."

"Hmph, I said long ago that the Anti-Kaiju Wall project couldn't possibly succeed."

The Russian representative snorted coldly.

Even before this, they and the Chinese had jointly opposed the Anti-Kaiju Wall project, calling it a policy of appeasement.

"Alright, we're not here to bicker like before."

Someone reminded them.

"We need to build more giant factories to construct Mech units at a faster rate. Only then can we cope with the increasingly frequent invasions by the Precursors."

"Is that necessary?"

The British representative raised a question.

With the global economy in decline, building more factories capable of constructing Mechs would be an enormous burden.

"After all, the Universal Union is, as they say, eliminating all Precursors bio-weapons that pass through the wormhole. We shouldn't need to rush to do this."

"But don't forget, we are the true masters of Earth. We absolutely cannot place all our hopes on the Universal Union. We must also participate more deeply in the war against the Precursors' invasion."

The representative who proposed building factories retorted.

After a brief discussion, the proposal to build more factories was passed. The Earth Government would establish twelve giant factories within a year, each capable of independently constructing Fifth-Generation Mechs.

Just as the five representatives were discussing some specific matters, someone rushed into the conference room.

"We have detected that the giant space carrier is heading this way and is expected to arrive in one hour."

"It seems the Earth Government has met the Universal Union's standards. Their representatives are coming."

There was no panic in the conference room. "Prepare for their arrival."

This was the first official contact between the Earth Government and the Universal Union, and the eyes of the entire world would be focused here.

The welcoming ceremony absolutely could not have any mistakes.

An hour later, the Olympus Mons, nearly a thousand meters long, equivalent to three Ford-class nuclear-powered aircraft carriers, appeared over New York, escorted by a large number of Typhoon Fighters.

"It's the Universal Union's spaceship!"

All New York citizens simultaneously looked up at the Olympus Mons above their heads.

After more than a month, the Olympus Mons had already carried odin and Purifier Colossus on many missions to eliminate Kaiju.

It could be said that now, billions of people worldwide knew of the Olympus Mons's powerful combat capabilities.

Especially after it used a single particle cannon to simultaneously obliterate a Level 5 Kaiju and a Level 4 Kaiju, leaving no remains, this was even more so.

That such a dangerous and powerful Alliance space carrier could brazenly appear over New York, anyone with a bit of sense knew what this meant.

This meant that the Universal Union was finally going to establish contact with the newly formed Earth Government!

Smelling a big news story, various media outlets rushed towards the Earth Government Headquarters building, attempting to capture this historic moment.

A large number of helicopters took off forcibly; some knew to maintain a certain distance, only circling from afar.

But others, whether attempting an attack or simply fearless, flew straight towards the Olympus Mons.

"Oh my god! Are those police and SWAT officers just slacking off!? If they provoke the Universal Union, we're doomed!"

Amidst the exclamations, several Warden transports left the hangar and hovered next to these helicopters.

Then, they fired bursts of stasis energy, incredibly freezing them in mid-air.

Immediately after, armed robots from the Warden transports initiated a brief boarding action.

Sure enough, a large amount of high-explosive ordnance was found inside one of the helicopters.

On the bridge of the Olympus Mons, Admiral Kotch looked at the helicopters frozen by stasis energy outside, slightly angered.

"We should have just used the point-defense cannons to destroy these audacious fellows, leaving none alive."

"We are here to bring the Earth Government into the Universal Union, not to start a war. Get that straight," Alex said calmly.

"Just hand these people over to the Earth Government. This is just a minor interlude. Now, begin deploying the Mech units."

In terms of authority, Alex, as Marcus's subordinate, was one level higher than Admiral Kotch.

So, to be precise, she was the highest Commander of this mission.

With the order given, a total of six Mechs, controlled by their pilots, came to the edge of the Olympus Mons's deck.

Then, they leaped down.

"Boom!!!"

The six Mechs simultaneously jumped into the Manhattan River on the east side of the Earth Government Headquarters building, creating a huge splash and emitting a dull, massive sound.

"It's the Universal Union's Mechs!"

The crowd gasped, looking at the six incredibly tall Mechs.

And very quickly, they noticed the Pandora, which had a strange posture and appeared more slender.

"Let us go down."

Three Warden transports, carrying Admiral Kotch, Alex, and other Alliance diplomatic personnel, flew towards the Earth Government Headquarters building.

Then, they slowly landed on the plaza in front of the building.

At this time, a large number of Earth Government staff had already gathered in the plaza.

In fact, most of the plaza had been emergency-covered with a red carpet.

The doors of the Warden transports opened, and a large number of fully armed tactical robots were the first to emerge.

Following them were the true aliens, who surprised everyone: the Na'vi.

"Look!"

Someone in the crowd couldn't help but let out a low gasp, having forgotten that silence and solemnity should be maintained in such a scene.

This was the first time in a true sense that humans had seen aliens with a different form than their own!

"Blue skin, and eyes like a feline, even a tail!"

As soon as the Na'vi appeared, it immediately sparked countless discussions.

The group of reporters, held back at a distance, continuously pressed their shutters, capturing numerous photos of the Na'vi.

At the same time, some media outlets also set up live broadcasts, streaming everything happening on-site to the entire world.

Many people had previously wondered why all the members of the Universal Union, an extraterrestrial civilization, looked no different from humans.

Could it be that humans are widely distributed throughout the universe?

The appearance of the Na'vi made most people realize that the Universal Union might, as the name literally implies, be an organization formed by the union of multiple races and civilizations.

Amidst the discussions, Admiral Kotch and Alex stepped out of the cabin door, escorted by Na'vi soldiers.

Seeing their attire, the Earth Government officials responsible for receiving them immediately knew that the two were definitely high-ranking members of the Universal Union.

Especially Alex, who had appeared before high-level officials of various countries, was the focus of their hospitality.

Without hesitation, someone immediately stepped forward to greet them.

"Please come this way, I'll take you to the conference room."

Alex nodded expressionlessly.

Along the way, looking at the familiar headquarters building, Alex felt a touch of emotion.

When she was captured by the United Government in the Biohazard World due to the collapse of the Umbrella Corporation, she was once treated as a prisoner and escorted to the special prison beneath the headquarters building.

Now, however, she had transformed into an honored guest of the Earth Government.

Led by the official, Alex and Admiral Kotch quickly entered a secluded and spacious conference room.

Everyone seated there, without exception, was a high-ranking official of the newly formed Earth Government.

Alex naturally took the number 1 seat at the conference table, while Admiral Kotch took the number 2 seat.

Behind them stood a squad of Na'vi guards and a squad of tactical robots.

"I am Alex, and this is Admiral Kotch, who is also the Commander of the Olympus Mons."

Alex first gave a brief self-introduction.

Afterward, the Earth Government introduced their own situation.

"Your progress is very slow; it took a month to barely meet the Universal Union's minimum standards."

Alex said indifferently.

Hearing this, the Earth Government side felt a bit awkward.

However, they quickly adjusted their mindset and began to ask Alex questions.

"We hope to understand what the Universal Union truly is, and more information about the Precursors."

Alex nodded, then began to introduce some information about the Universal Union.

Of course, as per Marcus's request, to prevent the Precursors from learning about their intelligence, Alex concealed the fact that the Universal Union was a trans-world organization.

"A platform for multi-racial and multi-civilizational exchange and cooperation?"

The high-ranking officials of the Earth Government present were not fools; they immediately understood the essence of the Universal Union.

"That's right, the Na'vi are one of the members who joined the Universal Union not long ago."

Alex said, pointing to a Na'vi soldier next to her.

"Na'vi."

Many curious gazes focused on the Na'vi soldier.

Alex glanced at the high-ranking officials of the Earth Government sitting opposite her and spoke.

"You have already met the minimum requirement for joining the Universal Union: unified political power."

This was tremendous good news for the newly formed Earth Government.

No one could refuse the temptation of directly joining a trans-galactic organization.

"These are the requirements for joining the Universal Union; every member must comply 100%."

Next to Alex, an Alliance diplomatic officer handed over a series of complex documents.

The terms on them were similar to those previously signed by the ICA and the United Government, with only minor additions in some details.

For the Earth in the Pacific Rim world, which was invaded by the Precursors' civilization, they had no reason to refuse to join the Universal Union.

Rather, encountering the Universal Union was the luckiest thing for all humans on Earth.

Without even needing to discuss it afterward, the high-ranking officials of the Earth Government immediately made the decision to join the Universal Union now.

"Congratulations, you are now a member of the Universal Union."

Alex showed a slight smile.

"Now, let's talk about the Precursors' civilization."

On the Ishimura, Marcus was watching the situation of the meeting through the tactical robot behind Alex.

After the Earth Government agreed to join the Universal Union, he cut off the video.

"The Precursors' civilization, huh? I wonder what their technological level is like."

Marcus recalled the settings about the Precursors from his memory.

These aliens visited Earth in the Triassic period hundreds of millions of years ago and left behind a wormhole.

This meant that the Precursors had developed for hundreds of millions of years and had long possessed such a convenient superluminal method as wormholes.

If a civilization developed normally for such a long time, plus wormholes, it would probably have unified most of the universe by now, and would not lack resources or territory.

However, judging from the situation of the Earth in the Pacific Rim world, the Precursors were still using wormholes to invade other worlds, craving territory.

That indicated one thing: the Precursors' civilization itself had not truly developed continuously over hundreds of millions of years.

There are many possibilities, with the following two being the most likely.

One, the Precursors' civilization stagnated for hundreds of millions of years, with almost no development.

Two, the Precursors' civilization experienced a technological dark age similar to the Imperium of Man in Warhammer, where a temporarily unknown destructive event almost annihilated the entire Precursors' civilization.

In short, judging from their performance in the original movie, the Precursors' civilization had not reached the point where the current Alliance was invincible.

"Hmm, now the Universal Union has six mechs, the Earth Government has four, plus the Purifier Colossus and odin, that makes a total of 12 Titan-class units."

Marcus calculated the power accumulated in the Pacific Rim world at present.

"We still need to continue accumulating strength, and it's also time to intentionally preserve Kaiju corpses, so we can pass through the wormhole later."

Because they didn't want to alert the enemy, the Universal Union had to succeed in one strike.

Either obtain the coordinates of the Precursors' homeworld, or occupy the wormhole as a troop transport channel.

Just as Marcus was contemplating the Universal Union's next course of action, a message was sent to him via the World Portal.

The signal came from Alexia on Avarax.

"Kadaku's initial colonization work is complete."

"Forget it, the Precursors won't suddenly attack anytime soon anyway, I'll go back to the Warhammer World and take a look."

After editing and sending the departure message to Alex and Admiral Kotch on Earth, a white light flashed, and Marcus had disappeared.

"Wormhole fluctuations detected, two Level 5 signals, four Level 4 signals. Based on target trajectories, estimated arrival in Alaska in three to four hours."

the Universal Union outpost on Iwo Jima detected new wormhole fluctuations deep in the Pacific Ocean.

The scale of this attack had once again increased, with an unprecedented six Kaiju acting in concert.

For unknown reasons, the Precursors had suddenly accelerated their invasion of Earth.

Inside a conference room in the Earth Government headquarters building.

Receiving the news, Alex tapped on the table, interrupting the discussion between Alliance diplomats and high-ranking Earth Government officials.

"The wormhole is active. A total of six Precursor biological weapons are heading towards Alaska and will arrive in three hours."

"Six!"

The Earth Government was astonished. Relying solely on the four PPDC Jaegers, it would be impossible to resist such a large-scale Kaiju attack.

"The Olympus Mons will proceed to Alaska for interception."

Alex glanced at Admiral Kotch, who had been silent beside her, then looked at the Earth Government officials opposite her.

"Thank you very much."

All the Earth Government officials breathed a sigh of relief.

"Since you have joined the Universal Union, the Universal Union naturally has an obligation to protect you."

With that, Alex and Admiral Kotch stood up, entrusting the remaining tasks to the diplomats.

Soon, the Olympus Mons' engines ignited, carrying six Jaegers towards Alaska.

Just as the world wondered why the Olympus Mons had suddenly departed, a Kaiju attack warning from the Earth Government suddenly appeared on everyone's phones.

Residents in the coastal areas of Alaska, in particular, received the highest level red alert signal.

"Six Kaiju, six Jaegers, a perfect match."

On the bridge of the Olympus Mons, Admiral Kotch gave the order.

"Have the odin crew prepare for battle."

Although Alex's authority in the Universal Union was higher than Admiral Kotch's, when it came to actual combat missions, Admiral Kotch, as a professional, was in full charge.

As the Olympus Mons sailed towards Alaska, a large number of Typhoon Fighters roared out, arriving at the coastal area ahead of schedule with greater speed.

They accurately locked onto the six Kaiju beneath the surface of the ocean.

To prevent the six Kaiju from scattering and increasing the defensive area, the Typhoon Fighters did not use missiles for bombardment, but only performed targeting missions.

Relying on its superior speed, the Olympus Mons arrived at the estimated landing zone first.

And deployed six Jaegers.

Five conventional long-range firepower Jaegers, and one Pandora.

The pilots of the former were all elite, handpicked from thousands, with Chris as their leading captain.

"Ring the Great Bell once! Push the levers, activate the pistons and pumps!

Ring the Great Bell twice! Press the buttons, start the engines, ignite the turbines, inject life!

Ring the Great Bell thrice! Sing in unison, praise the Machine God!!!"

In the cockpits of the six Jaegers, the Adeptus Mechanicus' prayer praising the Machine God resounded simultaneously.

Although these Jaegers did not have a machine spirit, the ancestral laws could not be changed.

The Tech-Priests had implanted habitual prayers into every Jaeger.

"All personnel, prepare for battle! Be ready to engage the enemy at any moment!"

Chris, as the captain, said in a deep voice, while simultaneously controlling his Jaeger to extend its back-mounted particle cannon and begin charging it in advance.

"Ms. Knightley, please intercept any enemies attempting a forced charge and delay their attack time for us."

"Received."

Pandora had already assembled its spear and assumed the hunting stance commonly used by the Forest Clan Na'vi.

The six Jaegers didn't have to wait long. Soon, a formation of Typhoon Fighters appeared in the distant sky.

At the same time, the airborne radar also displayed six signals.

Although the distance was far, for the five long-range Jaegers, the Kaiju were already within firing range.

"Fire!!!"

At Chris's command, the back-mounted particle cannon was activated first.

The already charged particle cannon instantly spewed out dazzling white light, and a particle mass containing terrifying energy arced into the distant sea.

"Boom!!!"

Even though it was significantly smaller than the original particle cannon on the Olympus Mons, this single attack still produced a massive explosion.

Waves surged, and water splashed everywhere.

"Roar!"

A low growl sounded, and a large amount of blue blood gushed out.

A Level 4 Kaiju, with half its body shattered, howled as it burst out of the sea, only to be blasted into a shower of blood by another Jaeger's particle cannon.

"Boom! Boom! Boom!"

The other Jaegers also fired their charged particle cannons in succession.

Instantly, two Level 4 Kaiju were annihilated.

One of the Level 5 Kaiju was also severely wounded.

The terrifying firepower, born from the Tech-Priests' design philosophy, was fully displayed at this moment.

Seeing that hiding underwater could not evade the attacks, the remaining Kaiju all burst out of the sea, rushing towards the Jaegers at top speed.

They attempted to drag the Jaegers into close-quarters combat before the particle cannons could recharge.

"!!!"

The Plasma cannons in the hands of the five Jaegers fired simultaneously, instantly tearing apart the charging Kaiju, sending their limbs flying.

This distance of a thousand meters was almost an insurmountable chasm for the Kaiju.

Only one Level 5 Kaiju, which was extremely focused on defense, managed to temporarily withstand the bombardment of the Plasma cannons with its super-thick frontal armor and continued its charge.

"Swish!"

Pandora swung its spear, lowered its body slightly, and then, like the most ferocious predator on Pandora, the Thanator, it fiercely charged at this Level 5 Kaiju.

In the cockpit, Knightley felt as if she had merged with the Jaeger, as if she was back hunting on Pandora, with only the Level 5 Kaiju in front of her in her eyes.

As they passed each other, the giant spear swung, instantly piercing into the Kaiju's body.

With Pandora's exertion, a huge wound suddenly appeared.

"Ow!"

In pain, this Level 5 Kaiju still tried to counterattack.

But the next second, a metallic long tail rotated and plunged into the Kaiju's body from the other side.

The drill bit at the tail's tip spun rapidly, churning a large amount of flesh and blood into pulp, while the long tail continued to advance towards the Kaiju's heart.

"Roar!"

Amidst its roar, the tenacious Level 5 Kaiju forcefully swung its fist, attempting to attack the seemingly slender Pandora.

In its limited thinking, if it could hit its target, this frail-looking Jaeger would be instantly torn to shreds.

Unfortunately, the punch had barely begun to stir the air when Pandora had already withdrawn its spear and tail, quickly putting distance between them.

Following this, Pandora performed a standard Na'vi spear-throwing motion.

Countless engines roared at maximum power at this moment.

The next second, the giant spear was hurled.

"Bang! Boom!"

A huge sonic boom cloud was generated.

Without any reaction time, the tough-skinned Level 5 Kaiju was instantly hit.

The spear precisely pierced through the Kaiju's heart and various vital organs.

After a brief stiffening, the massive Kaiju crashed to the ground, sank into the water, and then floated back up.
