Chapter 173 - Chapter 176: Why Should Non-Human Laws Judge Humanity?

"Fire!"

A shout rang out among the vampire soldiers, unleashing a torrent of bullets like a storm.

Ghost Rider's body convulsed as if seized, absorbing the barrage. The vengeance spirit within, fully awakened by sin, cast aside Mephisto's mission.

Vampire soldiers, though unnaturally resilient, weren't exceptional fighters. One-on-one, they barely outmatched elite humans. Against Ghost Rider, their relentless gunfire was their only tactic, lacking high-tier power.

Their struggle was grimly valiant, marred by bloodstains on their faces.

"Raaagh!" Ghost Rider's layered roar echoed—how a skull produced such sound was a mystery. His fallen chain writhed like a living thing, slithering to his flaming hand. Hellfire surged, the chain a blazing shield. Bullets melted into molten iron, splattering around.

A shadowy specter, Ghost Rider's form loomed over the soldiers' hearts. He flickered, a jagged phantom, appearing among them.

"Judgment!"

His flaming chain sliced through soldiers like paper, reducing them to ash.

"Lieutenant!" the vampires cried, desperate for aid, their shouts tinged with battlefield despair. No response came. Ghost Rider's slaughter was merciless.

"Major, isn't abandoning them a bit cruel?" Warrant Officer Schrödinger leaned forward, addressing the man in the high seat.

The Major, a bulky figure, propped gloved hands under his chin, face shadowed, glasses glinting blue.

"Oh? Schrödinger, who among us could face that skull? Don't forget our goal."

Schrödinger's childlike smile flashed, cat ears twitching. "Captain Bellbluff could win. Lieutenant Rip Van Winkle, maybe Thorin Blitz too."

His tail flicked restlessly.

"And who'd continue our plan?" The Major, Montana Max, grabbed a burger, mumbling through bites. "That werewolf fell far short."

A werewolf's head from the Howling Commandos sat before him, his lips curling in disdain.

"He's weaker than Bellbluff, but why not gather more material?" Schrödinger appeared behind the Major, amber eyes gleaming.

"Patience. The day we await is near," the Major said, his bulky frame rising with a rusty metallic creak.

"This is getting complicated," Matthew said, gripping his weapons, sensing Hellboy pummeling Witch Heart Demon like a pestle.

The base's depths thrummed with battle. Though unaware of the vampires' garb, Matthew knew their organized, inhuman stench marked them as filth.

"Not complicated. Send demons to Hell, crush monsters. Done," Hellboy said, his trench coat splattered with Witch Heart Demon's gore, like chili sauce gone wrong.

"I'll handle the stench inside," Matthew said, stepping over Witch Heart Demon toward the chaos, weapons glowing faintly red.

"We're abandoned!" a vampire commander shouted, firing emotionlessly, his face crusted with dried werewolf blood. "Not the grand war we wanted, but dying in battle's worth celebrating!"

Tossing his empty submachine gun, he drew a pistol and charged Ghost Rider.

"Die!" Ghost Rider's guttural roar, like a distorted speaker, filled the air. The fight neared its end. Mass-produced vampires, devoid of mystic power, awaited their curtain call in this frenzied finale.

Clang, clang! Matthew's hammer tapped the metal wall, his steps measured. "Ready to be torn apart, scum?"

He tilted his ear, seeking a response beyond screams.

"You! Guilty!" Ghost Rider's chain lashed at Matthew, while soldiers burned to ash in hellfire.

"What's my crime?" Matthew snarled, pinning the chain with his axe, his handsome face mocking.

Human laws didn't bind demons—so why should demonic laws judge humans? As a lawyer, Matthew scoffed at Heaven and Hell's punishments. A court crushed by crusaders, a God judging without reason—what gave them the right?

Fairness was trampled by those preaching it. The hypocrisy was galling.

Ghost Rider's driver wasn't his own will but a near-mad vengeance spirit, killing under the guise of "judgment" with Zatanna's hellfire.
