Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Class D Also Has an Old Maid

Chapter 8: Class D Also Has an Old Maid

[The boy's inner thoughts were clearly transmitted to the audience's ears. Hearing how this arrogant guy judged them, the students of Class D were starting to lose it.]

[Sudo: "What's with this guy? He's never even been in our class. Otherwise, I'd have given him a couple of punches by now."]

[As Sudo spoke, he made some aggressive gestures, throwing a tantrum like an immature child.]

[Everyone saw Sudo's behavior but couldn't stop him. Even after half a year together, Sudo's growth was minimal at best. Luckily, there was someone in the class who could rein him in.]

[Horikita Suzune cast a resentful glance at Sudo, immediately calming his fiery temper…]

[Although Sudo probably wouldn't get physical for now, the class was still very upset. Why was this guy, who they'd never seen in the video, exposing their true selves and past foolish actions one by one?]

['Who the hell is this guy?!']

[This question once again left Class D puzzled.]

[Even the always-friendly Kushida Kikyo, upon hearing Hikigaya's inner thoughts and realizing he had seen through her completely, could no longer maintain her approachable smile.]

[If he wanted, he could expose everyone's true nature at any moment, and she had no way to stop him because there was no such person in their class.]

[Of course, Hikigaya had no interest in doing something so pointless. Causing trouble for himself was the most foolish thing a person could do, and he knew that well. As long as it didn't happen around him or affect him, he wouldn't care.]

[Whether there was a celebrity hiding in the class or someone two-faced with ulterior motives, it had nothing to do with him.]

[Of course, if he was startled by this red-haired hedgehog, that was somewhat related.]

Hikigaya tried to calm himself. The class atmosphere was far from good right now. Seriously, hedgehog head, he did that on purpose, didn't he? Being so antisocial is going to make him the class's enemy.

As Hikigaya was racking his brain for someone to defuse the situation, the crisp sound of high heels slowly approached from outside the classroom.

A tall woman in a female suit, with a ponytail and piercing eyes that seemed to see through everything, walked in step by step.

"Everyone, sit down in your seats."

With just one sentence, everyone hurriedly returned to their seats. To have such authority, she could only be sensei.

'Seriously, does Japan have a surplus of old maids? Why are they so obsessed with teaching? Go find a boyfriend already.' ( Old maid is used in japanese for women who are left over meaning who crossed marriage age.)

This ponytail Sensei reminded him of his literary sensei, Hiratsuka Shizuka. He thought of her because he sensed something similar in this Sensei—most likely, she was single too.

[Hiratsuka Shizuka looked at the cold text of Hikigaya's inner thoughts displayed on the screen. For the first time, as a Sensei, she felt an overwhelming urge to strangle her student.]

[Yukinoshita Haruno, enjoying the drama, said: "Now, now, Shizu, it's fine. You're an independent woman of the new era!"]

[It felt like Hiratsuka Shizuka was about to cry from being "moved." ]

['Hey, snap out of it, she's just messing with me!']

[Meanwhile, Chabashira Sae, also watching the video, spat out the hot water in her mouth. In all her years teaching at Tokyo Metropolitan Advanced Nurturing High School, this was the first time she'd been called an old maid…]

[Her hands trembled with anger, and the ceramic cup she gripped tightly seemed like it might shatter at any moment.]

[Hoshinomiya Chie, seeing this, dropped her gentle demeanor and said coldly: "If you hadn't been hung up on that damn man, we wouldn't have been teaching here for decades, and you wouldn't be called an old maid by your student."]

[At the mention of that man, Chabashira Sae became unusually calm. She gently set down her cup, dodging the topic as usual: "He's not my student…"]

[Her tone suggested she had no regrets.]

[The matter was in the past. Though Hoshinomiya Chie couldn't forgive her, she didn't want to bring it up again. She turned her attention back to the video…]

["At least, he's your student now."]

As Hikigaya was lost in thought, he suddenly felt a chilling gaze from sensei, interrupting his musings.

"I'm the homeroom sensei for Class D, Chabashira Sae. This school doesn't reassign classes. So for the next three years, I'll be your homeroom sensei."

Chabashira Sae leisurely raised the materials in her hand and continued:"First, I'll distribute the school's information. Pass it from front to back."

Hikigaya looked at the documents labeled "Tokyo Metropolitan Advanced Nurturing High School" and suddenly felt like he'd already entered the workforce.

Honestly, this didn't feel like going to school at all.

"This school has its own unique rules. First, it's a fully enclosed institution. During your time here, you're restricted from leaving or contacting the outside world. But don't worry, the school has various entertainment facilities and infrastructure to meet all your living needs."

Hikigaya had already noticed this when he entered the school, and everything sensei mentioned was written in the student handbook.

However…

Chabashira Sae slowly took out a phone from the document folder. Since the school was enclosed, even the phones were provided by the school.

To make purchases on campus, students had to use points stored in their student IDs.

"At this school, points can buy anything…"

'Points are everything, huh? Sounds like points here are equivalent to currency outside… or maybe they can even buy things money can't.'

Hikigaya took his phone from the document folder, confirmed it was tailored for him, and slowly opened the points interface.

A massive 100,000 points appeared before his eyes…
