Chapter 187: Alex's Miscalculation?
Souls players are, without a doubt, incredibly passionate. While most casual players have just finished their bell-ringing adventure and are embarking on a new adventure of suffering, some very passionate players have already completed the first round.
Meanwhile, enthusiastic online players have created maps of various scenarios for Dark Souls: First Flame. In addition, through exploration and research, players have developed several strategies that allow even beginners to achieve unparalleled mastery in the first round. These strategies are truly unmatched, not just the type where monsters kill players for fun.
The simplest is on the Wyvern Bridge. At the beginning, buy the right bow and arrows in the Undead Parish, on the outskirts of the city. Then, on the Wyvern Bridge, slowly shoot arrows at the dragon's tail. After twenty or thirty shots, you will cut off its tail and get the Flying Dragon Sword. Although it is only a weapon at the beginning of the game, in the Undead Town area, on the outskirts of the city, the undead wielding the Flying Dragon Sword are the most impressive.
For a slightly more challenging game, players can perfect their parkour skills and go directly to the catacombs to sign a contract with the Grave Lord, thus obtaining the Sword. This method is quite simple: it only requires skill to traverse it and avoid being killed by monsters. The only challenging and luck-testing part is the tunnel, where a huge decapitated wedge-shaped demon lurks. Not only must you avoid its attacks, but hiding in the nearby stone coffins is also a matter of luck, as the wedge-shaped demon could discover you and execute you. Remaining in the coffins for half a minute will allow you to get to the Grave Lord and sign a contract.
Compared to weapons with an initial attack power of less than 100, the Grave Lord's Sword, with its attack power of over 300, offers a virtually unstoppable advantage with a cautious approach at the beginning, turning the game into an exceptional experience.
In addition, in the Cracked Forest lies a formidable Black Knight wielding a Guan Dao. If you lure it to a cliff and use the terrain to pretend to be a despicable undead, you could get the Black Knight Axe, also known as Guan Dao. As with the Grave Lord's Sword, getting the Guan Dao makes the game much easier. However, unlike the Grave Lord's Sword, the Guan Dao requires a little more skill and luck. Alternatively, you can kill the Black Knight to see if it drops the Sword, but this requires skill and luck.
Although weapons like the Grave Lord's Sword are quite disappointing when improved at higher levels, and the Guan Dao can barely be used, in the first round it is incredibly satisfying, allowing players to experience how relaxing and fun the game can be.
Compared to the previous game, where the second boss was the dancer, the well-known and complicated "Wushuang" method, while the new game is more difficult to defeat normally, it is incredibly satisfying with specialized strategies!
With the release of various strategy videos from various experts, players are delighted.
"Haha, Alex never expected this!".
"Hehe, suffering doesn't exist! Wushuang is great!".
"+1, this Guan Dao is too strong, you only need a few cuts to hit the BOSS!".
"Friends, have fun, I'm afraid Alex will update the patch later to fix the problem!".
"That's right, that's right, hurry up and have fun!".
The "undead" of the internet laughed very happily.
In the Nebula Games experience store, Jane and Lisa were playing Dark Souls: First Flame in the living room.
One of them, brandishing his newly acquired Grave Lord's Sword, was wreaking havoc in the Undead Parish, while the other continued to wield his Guan Dao.
"Alex, are we going to fix this?" Eric asked, sitting next to Alex.
"Why fix it? It's just part of the game," Alex replied with a smile.
Eric's expression of surprise became more pronounced.
'Something was wrong! Given the brutality of the previous development of Dark Souls: First Flame, how could the players remain indifferent?'.
"What's with that expression? I'm very considerate of the players, but I don't say it. The players of the previous game said it was too difficult and they couldn't continue, and some even resorted to mods. Look, this game maintains a high level of difficulty, but it also offers this type of trap. It's all for the players, it's all my love!" Alex said with emotion.
Eric was speechless after hearing Alex's words. Jane and Lisa, who were playing nearby, couldn't help but roll their eyes.
'They couldn't believe it!'.
Seeing everyone's expressions, Alex gave up helplessly.
'The trust between people was becoming scarcer!'.
"By the way, Eric, take a look at this. Then, have the project team start working on the new mode this afternoon. Tomorrow, accompany me to Galaxy Intelligent Technology to learn about the latest AI parameters and settings so we can collaborate on the new mode." Alex handed a design draft to Eric.
Stunned for a moment, Eric took the document from Alex's hand.
But upon seeing the first four words, his hands trembled.
"Death Mode!".
...an ominous premonition came over him.
Then he looked at the next content and the keyword list:
[The Gods and the King of Cinders in their Prime]
[Players who Complete the First Open Game Challenge].
Eric had not yet read the rest of the content, but just by seeing the two key points at the beginning, he understood. Going to Galaxy Intelligent Technology meant that it had to be related to the application of AI technology in games.
As for the gods and the King of Cinders in their prime, Eric reflected on the game's setting. The final player meets Gwyn, the King of Cinders, reduced to a charred shell, fighting only by instinct and completely unable to use his characteristic Sunlight Spear. This is intended to show Gwyn's weakness and his willingness to burn himself to an empty shell. As for combat, Gwyn is undoubtedly weaker than other bosses, especially considering his ability to parry.
'And now? Gwyn can't parry and still uses the Sunlight Spear?'.
The crucial point is this key feature: the "Death Mode" is unlocked for players after the first round!.
Although Eric had not believed Alex's words, he never imagined that he would be waiting for him! After reading the entire document, Eric opened the game forums and saw the players posting comments like "Alex's miscalculation," "Alex's mercy," and "Hurry up and enjoy" on various strategy videos and posts. He couldn't help but sigh with emotion.
'Mr. Alex is still Mr. Alex after all!'.
