Chapter 185 - Chapter 185: A Mass Disaster Movie Scene

Chapter 185: A Mass Disaster Movie Scene

After the release of Dark Souls: First Flame, countless Dark Souls players were eager to witness the epic story of the Age of the First Flame.

Before entering the game, countless players imagined themselves wielding swords and shields, carrying huge weapons. They imagined themselves fighting ancient kings like the Sun King Gwyn, the Lord of the Tomb Nito, and the Witches of Izalith, learning what it meant to be a Firelink Bearer!

'Gods, nothing else!'.

However, upon entering the game, these players were immediately subjected to a variety of brutal beatings.

First, the Undead Asylum demons gave a warning to countless players.

Then, they arrived at the Firelink Shrine. Countless people mistakenly entered the Catacombs and the Little Londo Ruins. Some even strayed too far and lit the bonfires in the Catacombs.

'Then, tragically, they discovered that they couldn't go back!'.

Another group of players who arrived at the Undead Asylum on the outskirts of the city faced similar challenges.

'The Black Knights, Havel, and the Dragon Bridge taught them the true meaning of the undead!'.

Instantly, regardless of borders or time, countless player complaints filled the main video game forums. Although the language and phrases varied, the core sentiment they expressed was universal.

"This prequel is too difficult!" countless players exclaimed after being beaten to the core.

Despite their mental preparation, once they entered the game, they instantly understood the meaning of "there are mountains after mountains, and there are heavens after heavens." The difficulty and mechanics were even more brutal than in the original Dark Souls!.

The Firelink Bearers who entered Lordran with great ambitions instantly understood what a sequel really is.

'Familiar graphics? Familiar story? Familiar combat system? Totally wrong! A game is only a true sequel if it resonates deeply with your soul.'.

And Dark Souls: First Flame undoubtedly embodies it. This tragic death experience was so nostalgic and familiar. Instantly, it revived the feeling of being tortured to death.

Countless players suffered in the world of Dark Souls. The suffering was so varied that it could be described as a mass disaster movie scene, with no repetition.

Their torment was evident in almost every scene.

A player who entered the Valley of the Dragon and strayed saw a dead dragon, even in a state of decomposition. A smile of joy crossed his face. Two objects shone whitish next to the dragon's head.

However, after carefully checking his surroundings to make sure there were no traps, the player smiled brightly: "I wonder what this will give me!". Filled with joy, he ran to get the objects, but just as he was getting close, the dragon's corpse moved, its head swung, throwing him into the air and spitting a mouthful of phlegm, sending him back to the bonfire.

"What the hell! Is its body rotten and still alive?".

Seeing those familiar words on the screen, the player's mind collapsed.

Upon returning from the channel to the lower levels of the Undead Parish, players who had previously defeated the gargoyle demon alongside Thor were filled with excitement. Dressed in majestic knight armor, they went through the white, misty door. Another exciting boss battle was about to begin.

Among the crumbling ruins, the boss appeared, a formidable demon with a goat head.

"Come on, let's see who is stronger, the goat head or the minotaur from before!".

The player, upon contemplating the goat boss, was filled with a fierce battle spirit. The next instant, a fierce voice resonated.

"Woof, woof, woof!".

Along with the goat, two scarlet dogs charged forward.

"Shit! What's wrong? You have two dogs?".

"What the hell? Why are these dogs so fierce?".

"You sell dog meat disguised as a goat!".

Upon seeing the message "You're dead" on the screen, the player was stunned.

'Isn't it a goat monster? Why are there two dogs? And aren't these two dogs so fierce? Why do the dogs seem to be the boss?'.

Beyond that, almost all the stages of Dark Souls are full of absurdity. For example, the famous Blighttown is hailed by countless players as being as powerful, if not more, than Farron's Keep.

However, Blighttown itself offers very little visibility. Its large vertical span makes it easy to get lost. You need items like solar worms to advance normally. In addition, all the monsters are poisonous, especially the Blighttown mosquitoes, whose modeling in the game is so small that many players cannot hit them.

Once poisoned, health is like a stab in an artery, impossible to stop. Without a spider shield or an antidote, traversing Blighttown is a hellish challenge.

Meanwhile, the lower levels are full of countless dogs, and combined with the needle-wielding monsters on the second floor, they are simply relentless.

There are also many disgusting monsters, including those who use the dead as weapons, huge fatties, giant worms, mosquitoes, and rabid dogs, which makes the entire map incredibly depressing.

And most importantly, Sick Village is just the beginning of the game. Over the beams of Anor Londo, a path that looks like a single-plank bridge extends. But at that moment, two guards with bows and arrows shoot at you from the eaves of a distant building.

Of course, it's called a bow, but the arrow shot is like a javelin.

The problem is not the high damage; the real challenge lies in being perched on top of a pillar of the royal city, at an incredible height. Without the Black Iron Leg Armor, a single arrow would throw you into the abyss without care. Even with the Black Iron Armor, the damage is devastating.

In addition, there are the deadly traps in the ancient city of Sen, the single-plank bridge with a giant axe and a pendulum, the killer elevator; the one-hit mushroom man in the tree hollow; and the boss battle, the master of desk cleaning, Chaos Incubator. The most difficult thing is not the boss fights, but carefully avoiding the destructive terrain they encounter.

The ground is full of cracks, and a fall is instant death. In addition, the boss will use its huge hands to clean the desk.

Even the player's first stop, Undead Town, is full of hostility. Black knights block the way, and the insane dragon bridge. Upon reaching the cathedral, the countless hordes of zombie sword masters around the staircase and in the hallways reveal the true meaning of despair.

If it were just the zombie sword masters, it would be fine. The most important thing is that these sword masters have someone who empowers them. Added to the fact that you cannot teleport to the bonfire before obtaining the royal artifact, countless players are on the verge of collapse.

Although there are many shortcuts in the game, they require strength to take them.

'God knows how frustrating it is to walk that short distance from the sick village to the fire prevention sanctuary.'.
