Jared stood at the end of the wall, his eyes cold and ruthless as he watched two security guards throw a lady out of his office. His gaze was poise, intelligent and despite that, he was bored of watching numerous ladies walk in only to confess their undying love for him.
If it wasn't that the company urgently needed a secretary, then he wouldn't be going through the stress of receiving their credentials and making sure that they truly passed the interview. But— most of these ladies had turned it into an opportunity.
One named Lara had confessed her love for him, and as a bachelor, Jared knew that he wasn't helping matters at all.
He slowly massaged his temples, but his dark grey eyes remained focused as he continued with the list of interviews he had for the day.
"Next!"
The sound of expensive heels clicking could be heard from miles away and Jared sighed inwardly.
To him, the lady approaching could actually be one of those ladies who used the pretext of a job interview, just to get his attention.
'Another attention seeking hubbub.'
The mechanical door slides open, revealing a fair skinned lady, beautiful liquid-pool eyes that are as clear as a mirror.
She dressed well, in black suit. Her eyes were sharp, her demeanor telling Jared another tale. The energy she brought in made Jared want to accept her almost immediately but he knows how unprofessional it would look.
"Have a seat, Miss Evelyn Clarke."
Evelyn Clarke offered a warm smile. "Thank you so much Mr Jeffrey."
Jared did not smile back.
"Call me Jared." His eyes already focused on his tablet. Still, he remembered to ask intelligent questions.
"Do you have experience?"
Evelyn had never worked as a secretary so this is probably her first.
"Actually, I… I'm a graduate with first class in Business and administration. Here's my certificate sir, please I really need this job."
Jared's hands hovered a bit on his tablet, he was not in the mood for too much talk. Her answer did not go together with the question he had asked.
"Do you have experience?" He repeated, his voice, so frosty that even the surrounding void chilled out.
Evelyn could have simply lied that she had experience, yet she decided to come clean.
"No I don't."
Jared's grey eyes turned to stare into Evelyn's eyes— almost like she owed him money.
"I'm sorry. We're looking for experienced graduates. It doesn't matter whether you have bagged a first class degree. It means that you have no idea of the work and time is not a luxury we can afford on the idea of training, so it's a no."
Evelyn's expression changed drastically.
This was blatant rejection.
"Did I offend you in any way sir?"
Jared stood up. "It's Jared." He reminded her, "oh and, you can leave now. Let me call this a day."
He stretched his body a bit but he stopped realizing that this lady actually proved stubborn.
"Miss Evelyn, I said you can leave." His tone grew harsh and sharp as he spoke… however Evelyn still gathered courage.
"Mr Jared, at least take a look at my credentials I have the perfect gra—"
Jared walked briskly towards the lady, he angrily snatched the office file from her hands and threw it into the air. This action caused papers to scatter.
Evelyn was shocked.
"I don't have any more patience left to endure this, leave now or I might just lose it completely."
Evelyn turned to leave but Jared stopped her.
"Take everything. Do not forget your papers."
Evelyn sighed at another failed attempt to get a job. Crouching down, she placed her mobile phone on the glass table and slowly gathered her papers. After a while, she hurriedly left the office, forgetting her phone behind.
Jared rolled his eyes as he slowly pulled off his tie but he stopped for a moment and quickly called the security, informing him that he was no longer taking any interviews for the day.
Only after now, did Jared finally get a breather. 26 years old and yet, he could successfully manage, direct and build a massive company in his name. Jared could become the director, the manager or the CEO at the same time, only that the work becomes heavy at times.
A few minutes later, one of the security's walked in with a mug of coffee and handed it over to Jared who slowly took the mug, careful not to spill the content over.
The security left, and Jared was all by himself, enjoying the peace and quiet that comes from the it— but just as he reached the cup to his lips, ready to drink, the phone on the top of his glass table lit up, popping a loud notification sound.
Jared froze.
And then when he looked, he slowly cursed, knowing immediately how that had happened.
