Chapter 18 - Chapter 18 – The Day Enies Lobby Fell

No Time Wasted

The sun was still high over Water 7 when Heaven's Embrace rose from the canal waters on glowing wings. Vegito had no interest in waiting for the Government to regroup.

Robin stood near the bow, arms folded, hair swept by the wind. Her eyes were on the horizon, but her mind was somewhere else entirely.

"You ready?" Vegito asked, stepping up beside her.

She didn't look at him, but the corner of her mouth twitched. "For years, I've run from this place. Now… I'm flying straight toward it."

"That's my girl," he said with a grin.

The Island of Justice

Enies Lobby came into view like something out of a painting — towering gates, white marble bridges, and endless waterfalls pouring into the sea. And behind it all, the massive Door of Justice loomed like a silent threat.

Vegito tilted his head. "Pretty. Shame it's going to be rubble in a few hours."

The crew gathered on deck. Bell-mère cracked her knuckles, Kuina checked her blade, and Kalifa stood quietly at the rail, her old home shrinking in her mind with every mile they closed.

Spandam's Panic

In the Tower of Justice, Spandam was pacing.

"You're sure it's him?" he barked at a trembling agent.

"Yes, sir! The ship matches the description — black hull with runes, dragon-woman figurehead—"

"That's him," Spandam hissed. "Vegito… The man who humiliated CP9 in Water 7…"

Lucci stepped out of the shadows, still sore from that encounter. "You should run."

Touchdown

The ship didn't dock. It hovered over the courtyard and simply… let the crew step off. The air shimmered with Vegito's ki, holding them aloft until their boots touched the marble.

"Alright," Vegito said. "I'll handle the big one. Robin, he's yours."

Robin's lips curved. "Gladly."

The March

They didn't sneak. They didn't rush. The crew walked straight down the main boulevard toward the Tower of Justice like they owned it. Marines and agents swarmed in waves — and each wave was swept aside like leaves in the wind.

Mikita's Slow-Slow field froze bullets midair so Bell-mère could swat them aside. Kuina cut clean through steel doors. Nami's staff sent soldiers flying into the canal. Kalifa's bubbles immobilized entire squads without a drop of blood spilled.

Spandam's End

They found him at the top of the tower, hands shaking as he tried to pull a pistol from his belt.

"Robin!" he barked. "You— you're still—"

She was in front of him before he could finish, her hands blossoming from the marble around him, twisting his wrists until the gun clattered to the floor.

"Do you know," she said softly, "how many years I've lost because of you?"

Spandam's face drained of color. "I— It wasn't—"

"Goodbye, Spandam."

The last thing he saw was her smile — cold, satisfied — before Vegito's ki flash swallowed him in white light. When it faded, only a scorch mark remained.

The Fall of CP9

Outside, Lucci tried to rally his agents for one last stand. It didn't last thirty seconds. Vegito intercepted the leopard-man mid-charge, flipped him onto his back, and pinned him there with a single boot.

"You don't get to terrorize my people," Vegito said.

He let him live — barely — but the message was clear. The rest of CP9 fled into the canals.

The Island Breaks

With the tower cleared, Vegito rose into the air. His aura flared gold, shaking the marble beneath their feet.

"Everyone off the island," he said. The crew obeyed without hesitation, sprinting back to Heaven's Embrace.

Once they were clear, Vegito lifted his palm.

One ki blast — small by his standards — streaked down into the heart of the courtyard.

The explosion lit the sky. Marble shattered, bridges crumbled, and the grand gates collapsed into the sea. The so-called Island of Justice was gone.

The Celebration

Back aboard the ship, the crew cracked open stolen wine casks and threw a party that spilled from the galley to the deck.

Kalifa leaned against the rail, watching the glow on the horizon fade. "Feels strange. That place… it was my whole life. And now…"

Vegito joined her, holding out a glass. "Now you're free."

She took it. "Free," she echoed, and smiled.
