I opened my eyes to see Alex kneeling beside me on the bare floor as he tried to wake me up, and at that point, with a look on his face, I could instantly tell that whatever it was that was wrong with me was something very serious because I had never seen Alex so tense before.
When I asked him what was happening to me, he did not respond; rather, he kept reading to me, and I could not help but stare at his face, searching for an answer, as I desperately hoped that I had not lost that child.
"Have I lost it?" I asked him directly when he wouldn't say a word for about 5 minutes, and I needed to get answers. I deserve to get an answer, and he was not going to hold that from me. I was not going to take it.
He did not respond to me immediately; he just kept doing his thing while I stared at his face, desperately waiting for him to say something to me to make me know what exactly was happening to me, but he did not tell me anymore of what was going on with me.
