Chapter 48 - Chapter 47: The Battle Rages On

It didn't take long for me to arrive; the structure of the base looked nearly identical to the base where I fought Atlas. The only difference was the placement of the buildings. Another significant difference is that a battle is currently underway between the New World Order Soldiers and the Russian Soldiers. The Russians possessed tanks and many possessed powerful weapons, but alas, they were no match for the NWO's superior technology and Paladins. My gaze shifted to an altercation between two soldiers duking it out.

They were both unarmed and so started to fight using their fist and legs. The Russian Soldier recently got a few clean hits, but was knocked by a powerful roundhouse kick from the NWO Soldier. The Russian struggled to get up, as the NWO pulled out a knife from its back and walked menacingly to the downed soldier. That is when I stepped in front of the NWO Soldier who jumped at my sudden appearance.

"Sup."

I then sucked punching him, sending his body crashing into Paladin before landing on the ground unconscious. The Paladin turned to me, as well as a few other soldiers.

"RED JUSTICE!!" One of them screamed out before firing at me, which of course barely did anything.

"Wow, dramatic much?"

I flew up so they wouldn't hit the Russian Soldier behind me. Though strangely, some of the Russian Soldiers started to fire at me too, some remained focused. I suppose their boss told them to take me in. As I rolled my eyes at their attempt to damage me, I saw the Paladin throw a punch at me, which I grabbed and flung to the side easily. I went in, punching several NWO Soldiers' faces, instantly knocking them out.

I barely paid any mind to the Russians who were firing at me still. I snorted as they constantly screamed for me to surrender. I focused on the task at hand, beating the crap out of the NWO Soldiers. I charged in using Cleave Breaker to cut the limbs of multiple Paladins rushing towards me. I elbowed a soldier and then used him as a weapon to beat on his pals.

Not too long after, I tossed the poor dude back to his groaning teammates. By then, not many NWO Soldiers were continuing or had the capacity to get back up. There were at least twenty left and were now using the trees and grass for cover. The Russians were moving in; they were taking control of the battlefield. I smirked, imagining the Russian Monarch's face once he knew I saved his soldiers' buttes.

I then frowned when I saw one of the Russian Soldiers point his weapon at a groaning NWO Soldier, who was too helpless to fight back. Instead, the NWO Soldier reaches his hand up to cover his face, or maybe a sign of asking for mercy. The Russian fired. In my perception, the bullet was travelling slower like a snail, but in about a few seconds in my time, the bullet would hit the NWO Soldier, killing him.

The Russians were my allies. While yes, some of them are shooting at me, but that was on their orders on their pigheaded Monarch. We are fighting for the same cause: To Stop Arc and his New World Order. While I don't kill, that doesn't really apply to these soldiers. I don't control them, and they don't control me.

Killing an enemy soldier is normal, right? It shouldn't be any of my business who they decide to shoot down. It's not like they are killing civilians. These are terrorists who also killed a lot of their comrades. They aren't worth saving. My brain told me that, and yet something within me told my body to move?

I see the bullet, just mere an inch before it pierces the NWO Soldier's skull. They are terrorists, while I'm not going to kill them, it's not my problem if they are to die instead. The word 'Sacrifice' popped in my head along with Arc's dark voice. I should let this man die and let the Russians do whatever they wish to these people.

They are not good people, and it would be a pain to capture them; it would be best just…I cut my thinking off. The NWO Soldier's helmet was broken when I punched him in the face. I could see his eyes now. Full of fear, like a normal human being. I found myself grabbing the bullet and shoving the Russian Soldier who flew back before crashing to the ground, groaning.

I look at the bullet in my hand, before I glance at the soldier's exposed face, full of terror and pleading. He was shaking a lot, like a child. I crushed the bullet, turning to the other Russian Soldiers who were firing at the NWO Soldiers and even pointing their weapons at the downed terrorists.

In a flash, I took their guns away, surprising them. I flashed them an innocent smile.

"Sorry, no one is dying today."

The Russian Soldiers quickly grabbed their backup weapon, which was a pistol, and other smaller weapons and began shooting at me.

"That damned brat is one of them!" A soldier shouted.

There was another soldier who pulled a knife and was about to stab a fallen NWO Soldier, but I quickly punched him, knocking the soldier unconscious.

"What are you doing? They're shooting at you, I know, but they are still our allies in this mission." Gavin said he didn't sound angry; in fact, his tone was one of curiosity.

I didn't say anything, gripping my fist tightly as bullets bounced off my chest.

"Sacrifice…the greater good. TO HELL WITH THAT!" I punched the air, which resulted in a powerful air pressure and a powerful gust of wind that knocked the soldiers off their feet.

I won't let anyone in this field die today. I don't care if he thinks I'm not a hero, I don't care if the world thinks I'm a hero! Right now, death itself could go for a vacation. I rushed forward to the trees, quickly knocking out the rest of the NWO Soldiers. I took all of them and placed them in one spot. I could hear the outrageous shouts of the Russians as they pointed at me and continued firing.

I quickly took down anyone dumb enough to fire at me. It must have been a blink for them. I ripped out tanks, dismantled weapons and continued to punch, kick, anything to stop killing the helpless NWO soldiers. Look at me, saving the enemy and beating the crap out of my supposed allies. I didn't know how I felt; it was bizarre. I felt so many emotions, it was hard to describe.

All I know, I'm doing what I think is right. A loud thud from within the base, I turned around to see the hole that was made to make the entrance crack further, to see a big Paladin. It was even bigger even the ones I fought. Unlike the black colored ones, this was sandy and had the Russian Flag painted on its arms. It jumps and raises both fists in the air.

I grabbed any nearby knocked-out soldiers and dragged them away. The Paladin crashed to the ground, creating a crater.

"A Paladin type B, eh?" Gavin mutters.

"Yeah, in exchange for having no weapons, its physical performance skyrockets. Shouldn't be a problem for you." Said Jason.

It charges at me, hand all the way back. I glared at the machine before charging forward. I yelled as our fists collided, my arm tore through the machine, completely taking its arm. The Paladin backed away, but I quickly darted forward, busting inside, grabbing the pilot by the throat as I launched us out of the cockpit. I punched the pilot in the face, knocking him out as the large Paladin fell forward, destroyed.

I slowly dropped down, letting the unconscious soldier fall face-first on the floor. I took a deep sigh as I looked at the orange sky. The sun is setting, and it won't be long until night comes.

"Ben?" Gavin called out, making me close my eyes and release another tired breath.

"I know you won't agree with me knocking out the Russians, but I can't let them just kill them, even if they are terrorists."

"It's fine, kid, you're doing what you think you have to do." Came Gavin's gentle tone.

"Mmh. Jason, can you try to make sure the rescue and recovery squad don't shoot down the New World Order Soldiers, they're…still people."

"Sure, kid. I can't promise anything, but I'll try."

"Thank you."

Now that's settled. I looked around. They might be hurt and knocked out for a few hours, but they were certainly still armed and armoured. Guess I've got to strip all of them again. I also need to restrain them since they'll just kill each other in the old-fashioned way. I cracked my neck and went to work.

RED

Nearby…

JUSTICE

Just literally less than a block away, Arc and The Silver Marksman stared at the large metallic orb in front of them. Contained by wires and other objects. The core, it's here. Arc wasn't paying attention, though he seemed to be in a daze. In reality, his special helmet, a device even more advanced, the SEE Goggles, was watching the recent fight between his soldiers and the Russians.

Arc and Silver sneaked into the building, letting the two armies deal with themselves. Droid was somewhere else, specifically, he was trying to find Red Justice to kill him, as well as the final third base. They had only found two out of the three. A few minutes ago, Red Justice appeared, having found this base and started to thrash Arc's soldiers with barely any effort. Inside his helmet, Arc blinked as he watched him rescue one of his men.

He watched through the drone as Red Justice continued to shake before screaming:

"Sacrifice…the greater good. TO HELL WITH THAT!"

Arc frowned as he watched him beat down the Russians and his soldiers. He recently became victorious. This leads to him cutting the communication with his drone. He stared at the ground before clenching his fist. Noah Ashwin would certainly have gotten along with the boy.

Arc could only feel bitter resentment welling in him. Because Red Justice won without any casualties or intense injury. All parties rattled and hurt, but alive. Something Noah Ashwin couldn't do.

"Go, I'll take care of him."

Arc turned to leave, but Silver stopped him. His single eye wordlessly told him everything. It was silent between the two men before Arc shook his head with a deep sigh.

"You know you might not come back from this. His abilities are a bad match-up for an assassin like you."

Silver Marksman didn't say anything, instead flipping the middle finger at Arc, who snorted.

"Alright, alright, have it your way."

Arc goes up to Silver and places a hand on each other before they embrace. Though it was brief, Arc steps back and gives Silver a nod before going towards the core. The Silver Marksman took a deep breath before pulling a unique-shaped pistol, his mechanical eye glowing blue.
