Chapter 2 - World Fusion

Although there were monsters in the other world called "Diablo Possessed" who were executed by the church.

They were originally born as ordinary humans, but from a certain day, their bodies suddenly began to rot. If left untreated, they would die within a short time, yet the church would still pay to buy living "Diablo Possessed" and perform an execution called purification on them.

It sounded very medieval, but he initially held some hope, thinking there might actually be demons. Then, when he was ten years old, that hope was shattered.

At the age of ten, he encountered a Diablo Possessed. After a month of his research, well... it was a kind of bloodline disease. At that time, he even cured the elf who was thought to have died from being Diablo Possessed.

He originally thought he would just send the elf away, but the elf said she wanted to repay him. Thinking that an organization of Shadow Powerhouse would be cool, he casually made up a Diabolos Cult that secretly ruled the world. He said that everything about those afflicted by "Diablo Possession" was caused by that cult, and even named her "Alpha," establishing an organization called Shadow Garden, intending to trick them into playing a chuunibyo game with him.

Three more years passed, and the organization's members increased to seven. They were known as the "Seven Shadows." It was in that year that his lie was exposed.

At that time, the seven of them came before him and said they wanted to develop in other places to deal with the Diabolos Cult, but he knew what they meant: they already knew the Diabolos Cult was fake. However, considering he was their benefactor who cured them and the affection built over the years, they were still willing to play the chuunibyo game with him.

There couldn't possibly be a real Diabolos Cult, right (laughs)?

Two years ago, he could only ask them for help to complete his Shadow Powerhouse play, or when he encountered terrorists, he would jump out, say things he didn't even understand, and then eliminate the terrorists. Although it looked cool, it was entirely a personal fantasy.

When the Seven Shadows encountered difficulties, they would also call him for help using words similar to those for dealing with the Diabolos Cult. Sometimes, when they couldn't figure out how to call him for help in a way that fit the setting, they would even change the Diabolos Cult's setting.

Thanks to this, the current, unknown number of versions of the cult have evolved from being hidden in the shadows and coveting Diablo's power to now claiming that the three heroes who defeated Diablo were created by them, that Diablo himself was their experimental subject, and that they control various terrorist organizations in different countries.

If only such an organization truly existed (regrets), then a Shadow Powerhouse would have a very strong reason to appear. It's a pity it's all made up.

His other identity for helping out—Shadow—was even wanted because of his help, but... isn't that cool?

He originally thought he might never have a truly fitting occasion for a Shadow Powerhouse to appear, until a year and a half ago.

That day, the earth shook, magic power surged in the sky, monsters in the forest scattered and fled, and a tsunami thousands of meters high rolled up from the sea.

That day, everyone in the three worlds witnessed a miracle of the world: the worlds… merged.

Without significant casualties, the three worlds perfectly merged, as if this world had always been this way.

Although the merging of the worlds did not destroy this world, the various forces that integrated along with the three worlds almost did.

Fortunately, when the various forces were at loggerheads and a great war between the three worlds was on the verge of breaking out, an invasion from outside the world occurred.

Yes, this was fortunate. An invasion was not a misfortune but a stroke of luck. Isn't that ridiculous?

But that's the truth. If there hadn't been an invasion from outside the world, all civilizations in this world would have long disappeared in that unexploded three-world war. The invasion from outside the world gave the three worlds a reason to unite.

The World Battlefield is the current combat zone between this new world and the invasion from outside the world.

Although ordinary people from the three worlds should be grateful for this invasion, which shifted the internal pressure of world merging outwards and prevented the world from being destroyed, it doesn't mean it's truly a good thing.

Since the war began, various forces have suffered deaths and injuries, and combined with various reasons, the world situation has drastically changed.

After more than a year of adjustment, a large international academy was established on Itogami Island, an artificial island in the Second World. Despite being a school with no teaching experience, upon its establishment, various forces from the three worlds sent their growing offspring to this school, hoping to achieve true integration of the three worlds by building relationships among the high-level descendants of these forces.

And in World 3, he, the scion of a minor noble family, easily became a second-year high school student at this academy, which was originally a noble school, plus he knew one or two people slightly.

Although Itogami Island in the Second World seemed to have a purpose for researching demons, no one has mentioned it since this academy was established.

After all, there are many powerhouses among beast-men and demons in the First and Second Worlds, and besides, such talk is not conducive to unity.

He was grateful for this world merger, grateful that the world merger presented such a suitable stage for the birth of a Shadow Powerhouse.

Think about it carefully: demons, angels, gods, vampires... with these existences, even with external pressure, true peace within the world is impossible.

Take the urban legend of the Fourth Primogenitor, for example. Legend says he kills indiscriminately, drinks a cup of virgin blood every day, possesses 12 disaster-incarnate familiars, and can destroy the world with his power alone.

How cool! If someone could tell him where the Fourth Primogenitor was, he would go kill the Fourth Primogenitor immediately, to serve as the second official appearance of the New World's Shadow Powerhouse.

All sorts of villains, all sorts of world-ending crises—just thinking about it excites him. You know, even with his strength, in the new world, there are at least three powerhouses whose victory or defeat he cannot ascertain.

Because this new world truly allows him to be a Shadow Powerhouse, a few months ago, he had Alpha and the others gather Shadow Garden, totaling over seven hundred people. At that time, he stood on the stage, looking at the crowd below, and told them, in words that fit the game's setting, that he no longer wanted to play chuunibyo games.

Although ordinary people wouldn't understand what he said, he believed that the Seven Shadows, who had grown up with him and knew his true nature, understood his meaning.

For example, what he said to Gamma earlier, ordinary people might truly find it profound, believing he carried some burden, but Gamma probably automatically translated it in her brain, as Gamma is very intelligent.

"You no longer need to report this information to me (I said I no longer plan to play chuunibyo games).

We are no longer on the same path. Seize this opportunity to lead the Garden into the light. Remember, flowers in the dark cannot bloom (It must be hard to find employees to play with me; I won't trouble you anymore).

It's enough for me to bear all the darkness and sin of this world alone. You don't need to, nor should you, face it (I'm going to become a true Shadow Powerhouse; you truly can't help)."

That's right, he had graduated from chuunibyo. He wanted to sever the Shadow from before the world merger from the Shadow after the world merger.

It was fun jumping out and being a riddle-master everywhere before, but fake is fake. From the beginning, there was no Diabolos Cult. The kingdom didn't issue a warrant for the cult; it issued one for him, which proves the kingdom wasn't fooled.

Thinking about it carefully, this is a dark past.

Look at this new world now; on the surface, it's calm, but dangerous undercurrents surge. Missing this stage so suitable for a Shadow Powerhouse's appearance would make him regret it for a year.

Since he can be a true Shadow Powerhouse, why play chuunibyo games? Although he didn't have no intention of bringing them along, Alpha and the others had already paid out of their own pockets to hire people to play chuunibyo games with him. If he were to drag others into danger for his own dream, he would look down on himself.

Not saving people he didn't know and not saving good friends who helped him realize his dream are two different things.

It's just that he seemed to have overacted just now; Gamma and the others were almost unable to hold back their laughter.

Fortunately, he had a flash of inspiration, quickly left, and softened his stance before leaving, believing Gamma understood his meaning.

"All I can do is remove the darkness from your path to light (Call me if you need help). Also, Gamma, think carefully about what I told you before (For our friendship, don't laugh, at least wait until I'm gone to laugh)."

Sid thought this on his way to the classroom.
