Entering Konoha, Anya carried Terumi Mei straight toward Tsunade's laboratory. Upon arrival, she immediately set up a barrier without saying a word. Glancing at the still-sleeping Mei, Anya decided to treat herself first.
Unbuttoning her clothes, a dark purple wound on her chest was clearly visible. If it hadn't been for Susano'o absorbing most of the damage, Evening Elephant could've killed her. Thinking back to that attack, Anya still felt uneasy.
This also indirectly proved how strong the future Madara Uchiha must be—the Night Guy, a technique even stronger than the Evening Elephant, still failed to kill him. Right now, she was still far from reaching that level.
After taking out the prepared medicinal herbs, Anya quickly began making an ointment. A moment later, a pungent smoke filled the room as the ingredients fused together, turning into an ugly black paste. Without hesitation, Anya smeared it evenly over the wound with her hands. Soon afterward, a cool sensation seeped through her skin into her body, instantly relieving much of the tightness in her chest.
Once external treatment was finished, green chakra glowed in Anya's palms as she started healing internal injuries. Meanwhile, Katsuyu appeared alongside her in a summoning.
"It's been ages since I've seen you—what got you hurt this time?" Crawling onto Anya's body, Katsuyu began cooperating with the treatment.
"Just an accident," Anya replied casually.
"Huh? There's someone else here?" Like it had discovered something brand new, Katsuyu's two antennae-like eyestalks curiously stared at Mei lying nearby.
"Split up and help heal her too," Anya instructed simply.
"All right," Katsuyu readily agreed. After attaching itself to Mei, it exclaimed in surprise, "She's seriously wounded. We need to start treating her right away."
"I know, so we can't afford any interruptions during the process."
Her injuries couldn't wait much longer; otherwise, they might result in irreversible damage—like Hayate Gekko's condition back then—which could end her career as a ninja.
Anya picked up Tsunade's medical notes and flipped through them rapidly, searching for similar cases. Once confirming the treatment plan, she memorized the required ingredients and precautions before starting the procedure.
Preparing the treatment pod, Anya placed the medicinal ingredients inside and poured water over them. Under the effect of chakra, the herbs dissolved into the water, soon turning it into a light green hue. As the temperature within the tank rose, the water gradually warmed.
"This is hydrotherapy—it's the most time-consuming and labor-intensive among all treatments, but also the safest one. Seems like this person is really important to you." Having assisted Tsunade in curing many people, Katsuyu quickly understood Anya's intentions.
Carefully removing all the bandages covering Mei's body, Anya gently cradled her seemingly boneless form and placed it into the tank, securing her body before finally exhaling in relief: "She saved my life once—I owe her everything."
"I see," Katsuyu responded understandingly. "Don't worry, I'll assist you properly."
Grateful, Anya smiled slightly at Katsuyu before placing her glowing green-chakra-infused hand onto Mei's chest.
Under the influence of chakra, the water temperature inside the pod continued rising, and the water began to swirl gently, radiating in spirals from Anya's palm and spreading its healing energy throughout Mei's body.
"Ugh..." Terumi Mei groaned, opening her eyes. Her face twisted in pain, tears streaming down from the unbearable agony. "Oub, I feel awful."
"I know. Just bear with it a bit longer," Anya said calmly, continuing the treatment. Katsuyu had climbed onto Terumi Mei's shoulder, using chakra to assist with the healing.
The medicine flowed through Terumi Mei's body. Her whole frame felt like it was being pierced by needles, involuntary spasms shaking her from the excruciating pain. It was as if she were enduring the cruelest punishment imaginable. Taking a deep breath, she lasted a few seconds before giving up, her beautiful face contorting in agony. Pale and drained of color, she weakly whispered, "Oub, it hurts so much. I feel like I'm dying. Do you think I'm actually going to die?"
"No," Anya's heart clenched, answering quickly, "I won't let you die."
"Can I have one of those red pills of yours?" Terumi Mei remembered how the medicine had eased her pain before.
"No," Anya understood her pain but refused nonetheless, "That medicine is poison. I already dissolved a small amount in water to help ease your pain. You can't take any more, or once the effect wears off, the pain will be even worse than before."
Terumi Mei felt desperate. "Then what should I do? Can we just stop treating me?"
Anya's eyes flickered as he rapidly considered alternative solutions. Not everyone had Sasori's tolerance, especially a girl experiencing hardship like this for the first time.
Suddenly, Anya smiled slightly and gently caressed Terumi Mei's forehead, soothing her. "Don't worry, I have another kind of medicine. Look into my eyes."
The way he looked at her seemed to reach straight into her heart. At that moment of mutual gazing, the pain in her body seemed to vanish completely. Anya unfastened his clothing and entered the chamber with her, lips meeting hers in a kiss. Stripped of all barriers, they entwined passionately, flowing together like one current in a river of love.
The ecstasy of love felt like a powerful high. Terumi Mei, tasting it for the first time, felt her mind go blank. Things that had only occurred in her dreams were now reality. All her longing and restless yearning from yesterday vanished in an instant. Their voices carried restrained desire and trembling excitement, with no distance between them.
Katsuyu, still helping with the healing nearby, turned pink seeing what was happening. Its two antennae bent inward in shock, while its mind screamed wildly, What are they doing? Did I just see that? I'm ruined...
Lost in the moment, Terumi Mei had no idea where she was until she finally heard Anya's voice in her ear, "Alright, try moving slowly."
Still dazed, Terumi Mei asked, "Huh?"
Anya lightly flicked her forehead, explaining, "The first stage of treatment is finished. The herbs I prepared have successfully permeated your body. From my assessment, you've regained basic mobility. Now comes the recovery phase."
"Oh," Terumi Mei came to her senses, her face flushed as she opened her eyes. The water in the chamber had unknowingly shifted from light green to transparent, and the first thing she saw was Anya's well-toned body.
Terumi Mei tried reaching out and lightly touching Anya's skin — she could actually move now.
"Has it really healed already?" Terumi Mei asked, still in disbelief.
Anya looked at her with tenderness and said, "The most dangerous phase has already passed. Just make sure to take your medicine on time from now on."
"I don't wanna take any medicine." Terumi Mei reached out and threw her arms around Anya's neck, gaining courage as she gazed deeply into her eyes and said, "You're the only cure I need."
