Evelyn's POV
If there was one word for how dinner went, it would be catastrophic!
The very sight of the new woman sitting right next to the Alpha irritated me greatly!
He had stared at her like she meant the world to him, which made me even more upset than ever!
I made sure to eat my dinner in silence but took my leave as soon as dinner was done.
I excuse myself from the table for which the Alpha did not spare me another glance..
"Madam Evelyn!" my personal maid, Dorothy, called.
"You said you were going to have some fruit for dinner! You complained about a stomach ache earlier…" Dorothy started but I was,miles away from the dining room and she wa,s running so fast to catch up with me.
"There's no need for me to have any more fruit, Dorothy! One more moment there and I might lose myself!"
I was walking really fast and Dorothy tried her best to keep up. Not that I cared that she almost tripped on her feet!
I would rather die than let anyone see me vent out in the open.
The moment I stepped into my room and Dorothy shut the door, I let out a horrid scream, trashing all the beauty products on my dresser, down the floor.
The mirror my mother gifted me fell, crashing into a million pieces.
My reflection stared back at me, I could see just how upset I was!
"How dare he talk to me like that?" I demanded..
I was there before that thing came! I was there when things were good and bad! I was here all along and now he has someone else to replace me?!
Most people in the kingdom had no idea about my relationship with the Alpha before now..
We attended the same school together and he was more or less my childhood crush..
I have made that very much open growing up with him and he never seemed to bother to stop me from telling the world what I felt!
Now we are grown and old enough to get married, will he just replace me with some random woman?!
"Madam Evelyn, you really need to come down."
I sent a harsh slap across her face in anger. The last thing I wanted to hear was someone to tell me to calm down!
"Don't you dare tell me what to feel!"
Dorothy winced, nodding in agreement..
"I couldn't believe that! This had to be some sort of a joke!"
"Since when did that thing step into the palace?" I asked.
"I heard that she had just arrived earlier today. No one seems to know where she is from so far…"
I can't believe the Alpha wants to replace me with some nobody!
I couldn't bear such humiliation and I wanted to scream for the whole world to hear!
"Is she prettier than I am? She's not even knowledgeable in the ways of the royal family and yet Alpha brought her in!"
"We can't be so sure of her origin, Lady Evelyn. The Alpha seems to know what he is doing…" Dorothy said.
Completely annoyed by her words, I pulled her hair tight, shoving her face to meet my deadly gaze..
"Do you realise that the words coming out of your mouth could be your last?"
"My apologies, my lady. I did not mean to offend you…"
I shoved her to the side, it was pointless talking to an illiterate!
"I can't stand her! I need to tell my father about this or she's going to ruin all of our plans!"
I turned over to Dorothy
"Get me a scroll and ink and you had better find out where that thing came from! Everything that you can find I want to know!"
"Yes, Lady Evelyn. I will do my best.."
Dorathy was soon out-of-sight and I took a deep breath, trying to calm my nerves.
It was of no use to let the presence of such an insignificant person ruin my peace!
I stared at my reflection in the mirror, smiling and admiring how radiantly beautiful I was!
"No one else is befitting to be called Luna. You and only you deserve to be called Luna " I said, reminding myself why I was here in the first place…
I've worked too hard to let someone ruin our plans…
I'm sure that getting rid of her would be so quick and easy!
All I also do is let my father know about her existence and I will have nothing to worry about…
Dorathy soon returns to the room with the ink and scroll I had asked for.
I wrote a very brief and concise message to my father, knowing just how to invoke a quick reaction from him..
I sealed it with my seal and handed it over to Dorothy to deliver to him…
All I had to do was wait a few days and allow my troubles to be over.
There was no need to feel threatened by her…
"What have you been able to find?" I asked.
"My lady, there seems to be no trace of this woman. It is said that she is not from this pack. The maids claim that she had accompanied them back from the bloodhood pack."
I went silent, thinking about her words.
Why would the Alpha go as far as another pack to pick a bride?
"Keep asking questions, Dorathy. I need all the answers. Is that understood?"
Dorathy nods her heads in understanding…
"Has our showdown said anything yet?" I asked.
"Not at all, my lady. It seems to be on a very looking profile recently. I will try to reach out and get him to talk to you…"
"There's no need for that. I'll let my father handle this and I will become Luna as planned"
I picked up one of my favourite embroideries, intending to finish the pattern I had for the Alpha…
Anyone who crosses my path would feel my wrath!
