Chapter 44: Dark DevilGod Tiger
Percy looked up at the roof with his hands on his waist, let out a sigh, and then shook his head. It had been three weeks since he and Gu Yuena had come to the past because of the space accident. And within those weeks, Bibi Dong, strangely enough, and to Percy's surprise, asked him to teach her how to bake the blue cookies.
Bibi Dong learned without a problem...
But Gu Yuena was a complete mess. The cookies didn't even look like cookies, and even with him watching every step, after putting them in the oven, they were completely black. Percy didn't understand what was going on; every step was done perfectly, and even the baking time was right, but he didn't understand how the cookies ended up completely burnt and looking like shit.
Bibi Dong had decided to try them the first time, claiming that the appearance might not be what he wanted, but maybe the taste was there. Well, it was almost her funeral.
Right now, however, they were traveling towards the Star Douluo Forest. Not only did Bibi Dong need a spirit ring for her sixth ring, one was also needed for Percy, who had to reach level 81 of Spirit Douluo. And since Gu Yuena was with them, they couldn't just hunt any spirit beast. She was, after all, the sovereign of her race, she wouldn't let them hunt them as they pleased.
Therefore, Gu Yuena was leading them towards spirit beasts that could be considered enemies of the rest for different reasons; there were many spirit beasts that were considered enemies of the same race because of the damage they caused to others or to the same ecosystem. For example, the spider-type beasts that Bibi Dong needed, many were of this type. The Man-Faced Demonic Spider was quite harmful, so they often killed many spirit beasts for no reason at all.
As for Percy, they had decided on a special one, one that could give her and him the chance to return to their time.
And as they walked towards the territory of one of the man-faced demonic spiders, huge spider webs appeared woven all over the trees. The three of them could see that in those spider webs, there were all kinds of insects, small animals like birds, mice, and even some larger ones like pigs.
The three of them stopped and frowned.
"It's on us, right?" Bibi Dong snorted a little.
"Indeed," Percy rolled his eyes at the cliché of the situation.
"Eh!" Gu Yuena snorted angrily that a simple spider decided to attack her. Even if she was hiding all of her aura, the bloodline suppression should still affect all spiritual beasts, which was why it had been so easy to reach these places without interruptions. But now, even with that, the man-faced demonic spider didn't seem to care.
At that moment, Gu Yuena released her aura and caused Bibi Dong to suffocate a little. At the same time, a horrible shriek was heard before the ground shook slightly as a massive spider about four meters tall fell to the ground.
"Well, this actually turned out to be easy," Percy just shook his head before looking at Bibi Dong, "Go, the spider won't do anything. You can kill it."
Bibi Dong nodded before he leaped forward to kill the man-faced demonic spider. With his strength it was already possible to do so in one hit, but in a battle things were different. Now the beast wasn't even fighting back and was practically offering up its spirit ring for the suppression it felt from Gu Yuena.
As the spirit ring emanated from the massive spider's body and Bibi Dong sat on the grass for absorption, Gu Yuena looked at Percy. While only the two of them knew about what they were in the past about, Percy hadn't told her the spirit beast they needed to hunt to try and get back either.
"Honestly, I don't know of any spirit beast other than Di Tian with a space-type attribute. What spirit beast do you want to kill?"
Percy looked at her for a moment before turning his gaze back to Bibi Dong. Gu Yuena wanted to snort at the sight of Percy being silent, but then looked back at his face when his voice rang out.
"Did you always keep sleeping in your den?"
Gu Yuena frowned slightly before replying, "Not always. But at first, it took many years before I woke up, but I didn't really care too much about the outside world. In those years, after I fell, spirit masters weren't even born."
"There's a spirit beast that doesn't belong to this world. Sorry, that's a bit inaccurate," Percy shook his head slightly, "Its name is Dark DevilGod Tiger, it was originally a white tiger, but it ended up mutating when an evil god descended upon it."
"Dark DevilGod Tiger…" Gu Yuena frowned slightly, recalling a strange feeling from long ago, "I see, so that decaying aura belonged to an evil god."
"Did you sense the descent of the god?"
"Yes… it was far away, but I could sense the evilness and corrosion that only belonged to an evil god."
The evil god was not to be mistaken for an evil god. The former controlled the concept of evil, but the latter referred to gods who are truly 'evil'. Corrosion, decoration, evilness, and more are examples of powers that these gods have. But unlike many who controlled their concepts that were inherited, evil gods were actually creatures to be feared and generally corrupted, which is why the White Tiger ended up mutating into such a cruel and evil beast.
In fact, all spirit beasts can awaken in humans as martial spirits, but this tiger cannot. The evil attribute would corrupt a human's soul and body if this were the case. But if it were a martial spirit, it would be on par with the seraph or even higher.
"The Dark Devilgod Tiger possesses an extremely overbearing talent. However, it does not mature through cultivation and its cultivation is extremely difficult. It can increase its strength rapidly only by devouring Spirit Beasts or the spiritual power of human Spirit Masters. Consequently, no matter what environment it appears in, it immediately becomes the focus of the indiscriminate hatred of the local Spirit Beasts who would exterminate it before it grows strong enough to threaten their lives."
"But what does it have to do with anything?" Gu Yuena asked, "Did the tiger mutate into a god outside the domain of this god realm?"
"Mm…" Percy muttered with a nod. "The tiger also possesses a core that is capable of separating and even traveling through space to try to find another place to be born again."
"If we are able to kill the tiger, then perhaps the core will give us a window to use your powers."
"Then we will destroy it," Gu Yuena smiled confidently, but Percy gave her an exasperated look.
"You have no conscience."
"What do you mean? The damn tiger is still a spirit beast, it should obey me. Plus I have enough power to fight anyone."
"You don't know anything, Gu Yuena," Percy sighed a little: "Dark DevilGod Tiger is a special beast, I just told you. Depending on its current age, it might be too dangerous. If it surpasses 50,000 years, then it should be as strong as a spirit beast over a hundred thousand years old. At 60,000 years old, I'm afraid it could even fight a level 99 titled douluo."
"Also we don't want the past you to notice you, much less Di Tian and the rest. And you need to keep up your strength if we can get its core to transport through space. Therefore, I need you to just be a support."
Gu Yuena crossed her arms before snorting, displeased that Percy was right in this case.
. . .
On the other side of the forest, a woman was running at high speed with a small rabbit in her arms. Her speed was such that she seemed to teleport with each step, leaving afterimages behind her. But when she looked behind her, her face was sweating and her eyes were shaking in fear as she watched the trees, flowers, and grass wither away as a black, decaying mist spread all over the place.
In front of this mist, a powerful and large figure spread two black wings as it ran, chasing after the woman. The two eyes it possessed were brimming with cruelty and a killing intent that could drive many mad. It was no more than eight meters long, but every part of its body was marked with powerful muscles. Its tail looks very much like a scorpion's tail made up of countless bone joints with a giant hook attached that faces upwards, and it shines with a cold light. And on its forehead, the mark of the 'king' was also black, but a different shade than its fur or the mist it released.
"What bad luck…" the woman closed her eyes as she muttered, "I never thought that thing would appear in this place."
Suddenly, the woman's instincts kicked in and she ducked, dodging a paw with extremely sharp claws. Dark mist was released from the claws and several nearby trees were cut down and began to wither. Seeing this, the woman's mind was filled with fear and her back was covered in sweat, causing her clothes to stick to her body a little. Her strength skyrocketed at that moment, rushing forward and running once more.
The little rabbit in the woman's arms trembled as it kept its eyes closed. She was very afraid.
"It's okay, Xiao Wu. We'll get through this," the woman muttered as she felt the rabbit trembling.
The woman sighed a little as she saw the trees open up into a small path, but was surprised to see a man with two bat wings flying at the end. In his hand was a golden spear that released small rays, and when he raised it, they grew larger, creating a powerful rumble and light that illuminated the afternoon.
BOOOM!
An explosion reverberated through the place as the spear was released from the man's hand and traveled towards the beast behind her.
"If you want to live, stay behind me, little rabbit!" the man exclaimed before a killing intent was released from his body. A white light was released and formed a circle around him as he felt his power decrease considerably. At the same time, he felt his heart stop as a saber was shown in the man's right hand.
"Gu Yuena!"
The woman watched with wide eyes as a beautiful woman suddenly appeared and raised her hand, causing huge pillars of earth to rise up and strike the tiger that was chasing her.
The black tiger roared loudly at them, fearless. The only thing his eyes showed was unparalleled fury and no less hunger. The beast didn't even care about the suppression it felt from the woman, it only knew that if it ate these two, its cultivation would increase by leaps and bounds.
