Chapter 20 - Chapter 20: The Real Puppet Master

"He wouldn't dare say it." Just then, the elevator doors opened again, and a voice echoed from inside. Lin Chen looked up to see three men stepping out.

The one in the center wore a sleek black suit and radiated the aura of someone who'd held power for years. On either side stood two soldiers in full combat gear. From the stars on their shoulders, they were clearly generals—each a warrior of war-god level strength.

Even more terrifying was the aura they exuded—true martial masters. Their inner force surged like a tide. Compared to them, even Gu Ruohan and Xie Tu fell short.

"Lord Huo! Save me!"

Seeing the man in the middle, Liang Hongtao cried out hoarsely. When life is at stake, no one wants to die. Seeing a glimmer of hope, his eyes lit up with desperation.

With Huo Yuanjun, the deputy governor of Yancheng, here—surely Lin Chen wouldn't dare kill him in front of such a high-ranking official.

Crack!

Lin Chen didn't hesitate. He snapped Liang Hongtao's neck with a twist.

"Since the real masterminds are here, there's no need for you anymore."

Liang's corpse crumpled to the floor.

Huo Yuanjun stared in disbelief. Lin Chen had just killed someone right in front of him. For a second, he was stunned.

"You—how dare you kill someone in front of me?! That was the captain of Yancheng's Security Division!"

"You're completely lawless!"

His fury boiled over like someone had stomped on his pride. But the moment he turned around, his face shifted into flattery, bowing and nodding like a servant.

As the deputy governor of Yancheng, Huo was rarely this humble—these two must be extraordinary figures.

Yet, both men ignored him entirely. Their eyes were locked onto Lin Chen, full of disdain.

One crossed his arms and sneered, "Just a worthless thug who spent five years learning a few punches and kicks. You think that qualifies as power?"

"You're nothing compared to me."

Lin Chen chuckled coldly, meeting their gaze head-on. These were the true masterminds.

"Who are you? Who sent you?" he asked.

The man scoffed, eyes sharp. "A trash like you doesn't deserve to know."

He stepped forward, aura exploding.

"Today marks the end of your life. Your fate no longer belongs to you."

"If our superior wants you dead, you die. If he wants you alive, you live."

"You and your whole Lin family are nothing but pawns—tools to be crushed at will."

"If you had come out of prison quietly and stayed low, maybe you could've survived. But no—you just had to dig into the Lin family's past."

He cracked his neck and smirked. "Now, you think a bit of kung fu makes you invincible?"

"I'll cripple you today. Show you how small you really are—just an ant we can crush any time."

But as he was about to strike—

Lin Chen vanished.

A blur. And suddenly—he was right in front of him.

He reached out and grabbed the man's throat.

"Small?" Lin Chen's voice was ice. "Let's find out who's really small."

Boom!

He slammed the man down like a sack of sand.

The second man reacted and threw a punch.

Bang!

Lin Chen kicked him straight across the room.

Seeing this, Huo Yuanjun stumbled back in panic.

"Who are you? Who's this superior you keep mentioning?" he stammered.

Lin Chen stepped forward and planted a foot on Huo's chest.

"Were you involved in the Lin family massacre?" His voice was cold as death itself.

The pressure on Huo's chest grew heavier. Blood trickled from his mouth. A powerful energy surged from Lin Chen's foot into Huo's body, ravaging his insides.

His veins felt shredded, organs churned, bones gnawed by a million ants. The pain was indescribable.

"Stop—stop! I'll talk!"

Lin Chen eased up slightly.

"I'm Xiao Yang, commander of the Northern Tiger Guard! I serve under Marshal Jiang!"

He'd been through countless battles and wounds, but nothing compared to this agony. Lin Chen's methods were terrifying.

"You traitor!" the other man roared, climbing to his feet.

"I'm Chen Fanghong, also a commander of the Tiger Guard! You think injuring Marshal Jiang's men won't bring consequences?"

"Marshal Jiang commands the Northern Front! Ten thousand battle-hardened warriors—he's known as the Butcher of Ten Thousand!"

"You've made an enemy of him—you're dead!"

Lin Chen narrowed his eyes.

He had once served in the Northern Army and fought in a brutal battle. When he awoke, he was already in Kunlong Prison.

He knew of Marshal Jiang—commander of a hundred thousand Tiger Guard troops. A true titan. His subordinates were elite, with at least ten martial gods.

Slap!

Lin Chen blinked and appeared in front of Chen Fanghong, landing a brutal backhand.

Chen flew several meters, slamming into the wall.

A late-stage grandmaster, reduced to a ragdoll.

Pfft!

Blood sprayed as he hit the floor. He struggled, but couldn't rise.

A crimson handprint bloomed on his face. Despite being struck in the face, his internal organs had shifted. The power was too precise—beyond his comprehension.

Even Marshal Jiang couldn't manage such devastating control.

"Revenge from the Tiger Guard?" Lin Chen sneered. "Good. I hope Marshal Jiang comes himself."

He was already back in front of Xiao Yang, foot on his chest as if he'd never moved.

Huo Yuanjun trembled uncontrollably. Two commanders, humiliated on his turf—he couldn't explain this to anyone.

But he had no choice now.

"Lin Chen! These men serve the War Division! If you kill them, it's treason!"

"Are you trying to go to war with the entire Dragon Nation?"

He was playing the patriotism card, trying to paint Lin Chen as a national traitor. Once labeled a traitor, the entire Lin family would be condemned.

"Humph!" Lin Chen snorted.

This bastard's schemes were plain as day.
