I sighed, looking back out the window.. Nicole started the van, and he started driving. Don't know where, but I couldn't care less.. I wanted to get some rest. Ruby and Nicole had their cuddly sleeping time, and now it's time for mine.. just without the cuddly part.
7:30AM
I was forced to open my eyes as it felt like a flashlight was being pointed directly into one eye. I was laying on the side seat, my head on top of my right arm. The first person I saw was Christian. Great way to start the day.. amazing, even. I sighed, sitting up. I yawned, looking around. Nicole was passed out on Ruby's lap, his lower half on the driver's seat. Ruby was also unconscious, sitting in the passenger's seat, leaning her head on the window.
I looked around, taking notice of the unfamiliar surroundings. This was the one part of Seoul I haven't been to. I leaned back in my seat, and glanced at Christian. He was sitting with his head tilted to the side being supported, and his arms on his legs. He shifted slightly.
"Damn, I got to give it to you, shitty face. I can feel your stare even while my eyes are closed." He replied, in which I replied with a startled screech.
"God, you scared the hell out of me.." I replied. He opened his eyes and looked at me.
He didn't say anything to that, but stayed quiet in response. I looked away, to the two front seats, back to Ruby and Nicole. But.. I felt eyes on me, and not silently. I couldn't help but roll my eyes when I caught Christian staring at me from the corner of my vision.
"What?" I snapped, so far, I was already starting to feel irritated without even knowing why. But, it's Christian, so it makes sense.
"You really think this is a good idea?" Christian's voice was dripping with sarcasm, and it made my goosebumps activate. But I had no idea what he even meant by that statement, so it was quite evident he was trying to argue..?
"What's your problem now?" I retorted, narrowing my eyes at him. "You've been sulking since we woke up, what's it gonna be this time? Gonna blame me for the apocalypse?"
He scoffed, as I could hear his annoyance level rise. "I don't need you blaming me for everything, shitty face. I'm just saying that running around like morons with our brains cut off doesn't exactly scream 'good idea' to me."
I leaned back against the van, crossing my arms. "Oh, so now I'm the one in charge of this apocalypse, huh? Last time I checked, I'm not the one driving us into god-knows-where. I wasn't EVEN the one driving."
He glared at me, his lips curling into a smirk that made my anger surface. "Yeah, maybe if you weren't so busy daydreaming about... whatever you daydream about, you'd actually be able to tell where we were going."
I clenched my jaw, stepping toward him. "At least I'm TRYING to keep everyone in one piece here, shitty hair! Unlike you, who just sits around and expects everything to just get better by itself. If you think it's so easy, why don't you do something about it for once?"
"Oh, I'm sorry. Was I supposed to think I could stop the apocalypse with my awesome personality?" he retorted, leaning in closer, his voice dropping lower to a more serious tone.
"You think you're the only one tired of this? We're all stuck in this nightmare with no loved one or so, but you keep acting like you've got it all figured out. Newsflash: none of us do."
I stepped back, but my voice was still sharp. "You know what? Maybe I do have it figured out better than you, because at least I don't spend my time running my mouth like an idiot instead of trying to help out."
Christian's eyes darkened, his voice low and harsh. "And I suppose you've got all the answers, huh? You're the only one keeping everyone alive—because last time I checked, it was me who pulled your ass out of that storage room when you almost couldn't breathe from a panic attack."
I froze, as my eyes widened ever so slightly. He was right, of course. But I wasn't going to admit it, ever. "Don't act like you're some hero, shitty hair," I said, my voice dropping into a snarl. "You only do things when it helps you. When it's not about saving your own ass, you don't give a damn."
He glared at me, fists clenched. "And you're no better. You think you're all tough, but you're just as scared as the rest of us. Pretend like you're in control, but the second someone needs saving, guess who comes running?"
The words hit harder than I expected. My chest tightened, but I wasn't going to show him that."Seriously? I can guess- because it sure as hell won't be me," I looked him dead in the eyes, keeping an expression which seeped with anger.
"So what, now you're gonna try and make me feel bad?" I laughed bitterly. "Nice try. But I don't need your pity, shitty hair. And I definitely don't need your annoying attitude."
The tension between us was thick, the air practically vibrating with it. We were both scowling, standing just inches apart, but there was no way either of us was backing down.
Finally, Christian broke the silence, his voice quieter but still carrying that edge. "Fine. Keep pretending. Just don't come crying to me when everything goes south, shitty face."
"Wouldn't dream of it," I shot back, turning to walk away. But just as I did, I heard him mutter under his breath."
"Yeah, well, you're already knee-deep in this shit, like the rest of us whether you realize it or not." he scowled, but with less tone this time. He slowly backed down, letting himself fall back onto his seat.
We were just sitting in absolute silence, hearing only the soft breathing of the two that were currently asleep. I glanced at him, to which he was spaced out, looking outside the window. I looked away, to the clock. It was just a quarter past 8AM. I sighed, standing up. I crossed my arms, walking towards the van door. I felt Christians gaze on me, but ignored the strong feeling to turn back. I quietly opened the van door, stepping outside, closing the door behind me. Not to mention one important factor, I completely forgot about. I was in the middle of a zombie apocalypse. Obviously there was much more to remember. I'm in an apocalypse, right? well either way that probably shouldn't be the case.
I looked around, and to no one's surprise saw a few zombies around me. I had bored eyes as I inhaled sharply, turning back around to enter the van again. Besides the fact that it absolutely REEKED blood outside, I wanted fresh air. But, I've grown pretty used to the smell now.. but it's just a coping mechanism because I don't want to die just because it smells like expired red blood cells.
I sighed, and turned around, returning back into the van. "Should we wake 'em up?" I asked, reluctantly due to our prior fight. I glanced at Christian. He didn't say anything for a moment, but spoke.
"Yeah, I guess.. plus, Nicole might actually know where we are right now.." he replied. With that, he walked up to Nicole and Ruby, tapping Nicole's shoulder. Nicole spoke with his normal voice, indicating he had probably been awake for a while.
"Bravo, bravo. Another fight, another day stuck in a zombie apocalypse with you two.." Nicole spoke, opening his eyes, sitting up. He seemed flustered by sleeping on Ruby, but hid it, although it was obvious.
I leaned back in my seat, sighing softly. My lips unwillingly twisting into a frown ever so subtly while looking at him. Christian was now trying to wake Ruby up. I ultimately sighed, standing up and walking over towards Nicole. I leaned against the wall, and spoke to him, "do you know where the heck you drove us?" I asked, curious but slightly irritated.
he scratched his head and smiled innocently. "nope.. I just thought I'd park somewhere with the least amount of zombies," he explained. "Me and Ruby drove through countless roads while you and Christian were asleep. and this one seemed the emptiest." I sighed, and leaned back against the van.
"It's true," Ruby spoke up, her voice a bit hoarse from sleep. "He drove around a lot before picking this street." Ruby defended him. I nodded in slight understanding, glancing at Christian who had been listening in to the conversation.
"So we're lost? Great job nic.." Christian sighed, patting Nicole's shoulder.
