Chapter 12: Veyl Why
I woke up in a void, looking at my charts. They had changed.
Cultivation Method: Wild Dao
Souls Remaining: 11
Supreme Laws Accessed: Death, Time
Ordinary Laws Accessed: 5
Title: Death's Harbinger
Gear: Scythe (cuts through the lines connecting the soul to the body)
Law Abilities: 2/7 (Soul Farmer) (Dark Mist)
Wow, two abilities already. I remember—if I gained all the abilities linked to Death, I would be able to master the next law.
But the Time Law had mysteriously appeared there. I reached my hand into the void and brought out a light green orb. Looking at it, I felt a pang of joy in my heart.

(Outside Li Fen's consciousness)
Saerah sat on her throne, clearly disappointed. The being who should have been able to rival her brother was defeated by a mere race from the Wild.
Attempting to finish off Li Fen —whose cover as a wild creature (KULL) had now been blown, revealing his true human form — and claim his status as the winner, Aris walked toward the now-unconscious figure and, by raising his hands, summoned a golden spear.
Veyl, looking at the stage, turned to walk away. At the same time, a hooded figure in the middle of the crowd turned to leave. Saerah's statue also stood up and began to move as well.
Aris looked at Kull and let out a sigh.
"You know, I really had high hopes for you… at least for a second," he said, striking his spear at Kull.
Clang! Zzzzt!!!
The spear struck—but to the surprise of the watchers, a green force field formed around him.
He rose up with green and black aura emanating from him; his eyes slowly darkened, his dark hair grew a little longer, and his aura filled the stage, overwhelming all who were inferior to his current level.
His scythe rose from the floor, covered in dark soot, and bolted toward Kull—no, toward Li Fen, revealed at last.
Saerah took back her seat; the cloaked figure slightly tilted his head toward the stage, while Veyl stood there in shock.
"Veyl!!!! Why!!!!, I looked to you as a brother. Even if we hardly knew each other, I thought we shared a bond. Just why!!!!! Why did you go behind my back and follow that old man? Why!!!?"
The dried voice of Li Fen echoed across the stage as his eyes were now deeply consumed by darkness, making them look like a void.
Veyl, completely shocked, looked at Li Fen, who now seemed more like a wild beast than a human. He wondered how Li Fen had managed to know his little preparations with Morik. Based on the current situation, his survival instincts were clearly pushing him to get the hell out of there. So he ran off toward the exit leading to the City Rings with his pass.
The anger emanating from Li Fen was now completely diminished. He stared at his hands as if it were the first time he had seen them.
---
"What in the world is this overwhelming power?" Aris asked himself. "Only the gods should have this kind of power. Better still, What the hell am I doing here? But if I leave mid-match, it would be a shame to the Celestial God Race. No, I better do something."
He added, with every nerve in his body telling him to flee, but he still chose to strike.
With his light spear still in hand, he charged forward toward the now hollow Li Fen.
"No!!!!!! Aris, run!!!!!!!!!!" The voice of Brimel the Avatar warned Aris—but it was too late.
Two repulsive forces struck out in the form of a honeycomb, each force pushing Aris's feet away, forcing him to cough up blood.
In an instant, his body was reduced to block pieces. His time-reversal technique was incomplete, making his healing slow.
A slight move from the tip of Li Fen's scythe sent out a black devil tail that struck the soul of Prime Aris, sending it into the void.
"Arissss!!!!!!!" Brimel shouted, his celestial skin now cracking from the overwhelming mana of the Celestial God.
The soul of Prime Aris transformed into a golden orb and went into the void. Coming out were twelve different crystals.
At this point, the match was over, and the crowd was now running like ants.
---
As the twelve crystals floated above the void where Prime Aris's soul had vanished, an eerie silence gripped the arena.
The crowds that had once roared like thunder now scattered like frightened ants, their faces pale with shock and fear. Whispers rippled through the masses — rumors of the overwhelming power they had just witnessed, power they barely comprehended.
Outside the ring, the atmosphere thickened with anticipation and dread. The air itself seemed to crackle with residual energy from the clash. Even the ground vibrated faintly beneath the myriad footsteps of fleeing spectators. Some looked back nervously, unwilling to leave yet unable to stay.
The tension was palpable, as if the fragile balance between mortal and divine had been shaken, threatening to unravel in an instant.
Among the crowd, whispers about the Human "Li Fen" spread like wildfire. No longer was he merely a rival or challenger — he had become a force that transcended comprehension. His transformation into something wild yet godlike unsettled even the most hardened warriors. The green and black aura still seemed to linger invisibly over the battleground, a reminder that within the heart of that scythe lay a power that might topple worlds.
Saerah's throne sat empty once more, her departure a silent acknowledgment that she could no longer control what had just been unleashed. The hooded figure disappeared into the shadows, but even he seemed weighed down by the repercussions.
Veyl's retreating figure was a testament to the chaos. His betrayal and cowardice had fractured the bonds between comrades, and that rupture hung heavy over the silence.
In the sky above, storm clouds gathered, dark as the void itself.
The Seekers' Elder and the Celestial God moved swiftly, their presence tearing through the chaos. Neither wished to see another spark ignite the embers of the Heavenly War. What unfolded before them was not mere rebellion — it was the prelude to impending catastrophe.
