With all eyes on Daven, he swallowed nervously, as his fists clenched and unclenched. His mouth opened continually like a fish in water, looking for words to say but nothing came.
The truth was too heavy for him to say and it would absolutely ruin him once it got out.
However, Nate pressed, "Cat got your tongue, Daven?"
"You were ratting out your mouth at the last meeting and even dared to threaten my girl. You can't talk anymore?"
The volatile Daven from earlier now seemed docile while facing Nate's pressure, especially with the accusation he couldn't deny.
All he could do was turn toward Mason, "This is not what we talked about. You were supposed to beg and convince him."
"Convince me?" Nate cut in. "You are the perpetrator of this problem, and yet, you can't make a single apology? You expect Mason to do it all for you?"
"That's not what he meant…" Mason let out with his hands waving in the air.
"Then what does he mean?" Nate chuckled, as he pointed a finger at the leader. "Did you know I was attacked by students, after my image was ruined?"
"How do you want to compensate for that? With just an apology?"
"I am sorry…" He snickered, as he stood up to his feet, ready to leave. "That is not possible."
However, before he left, he turned to Mason, "I am a bit disappointed in you. I thought you were a good leader, and would bring the truth to light but all you want to do is cover up his wrongdoings."
"I expect a proper apology from the council and also a thorough explanation and the truth on why this has happened. If there is anyone involved in this scandal, I would want that person to be punished appropriately."
"The students are waiting too, and you can be ruined in one night."
"Nate…" Mason immediately tried to stop him, but he was fast enough to get to the door and slip out.
At that moment, he realized a few students had gathered right outside the building, waiting for the outcome of the rumored meeting. And as soon as they saw him, they rushed forward.
They came bearing angry faces, and rocks ready to punish him.
"You still dare show your face!"
"You devil!"
"Fraudster!"
The angry students pushed forward, filled with strife but Nate wasn't about to cower and show his fear.
He raised his hand, and tightened his fist, commanding a cease. At that moment, he had the aura that no one could disobey, as his eyes swept over the mob.
He began to speak, with his voice booming through the atmosphere, "I understand that my reputation is down in the dumps, right now."
"However, I would not hesitate to speak the truth whenever I can. Every accusation labeled against me is false. I am not a scammer, fraudster, or a vile person who goes after students like me."
"I have evidence to prove my words, and I am going to release just a tiny bit of it. Everything else will be handled by the students' council, if they care to get justice!"
Immediately, the phones of every student right there rang out as messages started to drop with several posts of the evidence Nate had sent earlier to several notable online figures in the school.
"What! I can't believe this! Gerald actually sent a group of students to attack Nate!"
"How could he be so vile?"
"Vile? I think he was rather embarrassed that Nate outbid him for the emerald necklace!"
"Wait! Don't you think this is Rick's doing? Gerald is Rick's friend and a little birdy told me that Rick was kicked out of the auction event by Nate!"
"This is his retaliation! I am sure he tried to frame Nate!"
Nate watched as they all put together the clues from just the little evidence he had dropped. He knew words would get to Rick soon and with fire under Daven's bosom, the truth would be forced out.
The next second, he slipped away from the students while he glanced at the entrance of the building. Mason stood there, hands on his waist watching just how the public opinion had subtly changed in Nate's favor.
He knew just how much Nate's words could ruin him too now.
Quickly, he rushed into the building, hoping to get Mason to come clean before everyone.
On the other hand, Nate became restless as he rushed toward Professor Claire's office. After the meeting, he had been hoping she would show up but she was nowhere to be seen and her phone was still not connecting.
A few minutes later, he finally got to the office and as soon as he knocked on the door, the door flung open with the beautiful professor standing there.
Nate was momentarily dazed, realizing she had changed her clothes and was now dressed in a tight top, with a V-neckline that softly showcased her cleavage.
His eyes roamed down her body, seeing the tight trousers she had on, showing off her round buttocks.
He blinked for a second and turned his face away.
"Uhm, I am here to ask about Nyx. Were you able to get to her?"
But instead of answering his urgent question, she curled her fingers around his arm and pulled him into her office.
"Why don't you come in for a moment?"
"Professor Claire, I don't need to come in, do I?" He glanced around her office, noticing how cozy it was. With dim lights unusual for an office and couchs soft enough to have the day's dream before her desk.
"I really need to know about Nyx's wellbeing…" He said as his butt hit the couch and she sat on the edge of the desk, crossing her legs and leaning forward.
Her cleavage was even more visible this way as she spoke, "You don't need to worry about Nyx."
"It's usually this way when she goes back home."
"What do you mean?" His brows creased.
"I mean, she isn't allowed to use her phone in the house."
"What?" He frowned even deeper. "Who does that?"
"I don't know…" She shrugged, as if to dispel the discussion as she sashayed her waist toward him.
She sat beside him, curling her hand around his arm again, and at that moment, he felt a spark of electricity through him as the system's voice resounded in his mind.
