Chapter 4 - Notorious International Serial Killers

As we move forward, let's examine real case studies of serial killers from around the world. In this chapter, I have selected some of the most infamous and psychologically complex individuals whose cases have helped shape criminal profiling and public understanding of serial homicide.

Ted Bundy

One of the most infamous serial killers in history, Theodore Robert Bundy, better known as Ted Bundy, has become a chilling symbol of charm masking pure evil. His case is one of the most extensively studied in criminal psychology, not only because of his horrifying crimes but also due to the disturbing duality in his personality: a well-mannered, intelligent, and attractive man who lured dozens of women to their deaths.

Overview:

Full Name: Theodore Robert Bundy

Date of Birth: November 24, 1946

Nationality: American

Confirmed Victims: 30 (possibly more)

Active Years: 1974–1978

Method: Bludgeoning, strangulation, sexual assault, necrophilia

Final Sentence: Execution by electric chair (1989)

Childhood and Early Life: Bundy was born to an unwed mother and raised believing his grandparents were his parents and his mother was his sister. This identity confusion may have triggered early psychological fractures. Although described as shy and intelligent, he was fascinated by knives and displayed voyeuristic behavior.

Modus Operandi: Bundy would approach women in public, pretending to be injured or needing help. Once they were close, he would bludgeon them and take them to secluded locations, where he raped and murdered them. He:

Strangled victims

Committed necrophilia (sometimes returning to crime scenes)

Repositioned corpses and applied makeup

Kept severed heads as trophies
