"Uhm," Aiden muttered, while scratching the back of his head awkwardly.
Laela had just put him on the spot with that question, and now everyone was looking at him, including Rin.
He sighed heavily.
"I'm not sure if she's ready to leave yet," he answered, gesturing vaguely toward Rin.
Rin's expression shifted immediately. She frowned and pulled her head away from both women, crossing her arms over her chest.
Laela and Arianna looked at her sadly, as their smiles faded.
"To be honest," Rin began, "I don't like being kept here against my will."
Aiden shook his head quickly. "But you don't deny you've been treated right," he countered.
Rin opened her mouth to respond, but Aiden kept going.
"You get timely food," he said, counting on his fingers. "And a lot of it. Heck, you even ate the most from my wedding, and you weren't even there!"
