Chapter 279 - Chapter 279

Ninety-nine point nine percent…

Kakashi and Guy froze on the spot, staring in disbelief, as if their ears had deceived them.

But when they looked at Senju Haruto's calm expression…

No—this wasn't a misunderstanding.

To say it bluntly, in Kakashi's entire understanding of medicine, there was no such thing as a surgery with such an outrageous success rate.

The shock was so great that for a moment, none of them even knew where to begin questioning it.

"Alright. Don't dwell on the details. Since Lee has agreed to the surgery, let's move quickly and settle this."

Haruto made a simple hand gesture, signaling Guy to notify the medical staff and prepare an operating room.

"Yes, Lord Haruto!"

The moment he thought of Lee being able to bloom with youth once more—especially with such a high chance of success—Guy could barely contain his excitement. His blood boiled so strongly he nearly flung open all Eight Gates to sprint out of the ward himself.

"I can't believe it… such a high success rate. Then what's that point-one percent failure supposed to mean?"

Kakashi drew in a sharp breath, unable to stop himself from asking.

"Something like… if the village suddenly gets hit by an earthquake," Haruto replied offhandedly.

In truth, Haruto was confident enough to say one hundred percent without hesitation. For him, this surgery posed no real difficulty.

But one should remain humble.

And so, under the stunned gazes of everyone, Haruto personally escorted Rock Lee into the operating room and began preparations.

Thanks to his status as an advisor to the Hokage, even the director of Konoha Hospital treated Haruto with the utmost respect—granting him full authority to operate on Lee.

"I'm ready, Lord Haruto."

Lee lay flat on the surgical table, taking steady breaths, forcing himself into calmness and composure.

Even though Haruto would lead the procedure, the necessary steps had to be followed. Soon, his assistant administered deep anesthesia, ensuring that Lee would feel no pain throughout.

Once everything was in place, Haruto picked up the scalpel and began to cut through Lee's skin, muscle, and deeper layers.

But before making the first incision, Haruto activated his left eye—the Byakugan—and his right eye—the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan.

In the entire Hidden Leaf, only Haruto could wield both of these dōjutsu.

And truth be told, Haruto had long suspected something curious: compared to most shinobi, the Hyūga clan were naturally predisposed to excel as medical-nin.

After all, the Byakugan was essentially a radiation-free X-ray.

Especially in surgery—it allowed one to see the root of the problem without even opening the body.

Haruto even believed that the reason Tsunade's chances with this operation had been only fifty percent… was because she did not possess the Byakugan.

"Fragments…"

Haruto's eyes sharpened, instantly locking onto every last bone fragment embedded in Lee's nerves.

Not only that—he used the Hyūga clan's gentle fist to seal Lee's tenketsu, slowing blood circulation and ensuring excessive bleeding would not occur.

This may have been Haruto's first surgery in his life, but once he understood the principles, there was nothing difficult about it.

After all…

He wasn't relying on ordinary human means.

The Byakugan ensured flawless vision, not a single blind spot. The Sharingan guaranteed absolute precision with each cut, accuracy down to the finest fraction.

"Is that… the Sharingan and the Byakugan?"

From the observation room, Guy and the others watched through the glass as Haruto performed the operation.

As one of Konoha's elite jōnin, Guy would never mistake those eyes.

"That's right."

Kakashi gave a slow nod. "Unbelievable as it looks, Haruto truly does possess multiple kekkei genkai."

"That's why I said it before—if even Haruto can't handle this, then no one in this world could save Lee."

"Indeed… with both the Sharingan and the Byakugan, a surgery of this level… hardly counts as difficult."

Guy swallowed, pressing his palm against the glass, his gaze fixed on Haruto with deep emotion.

"Not just the Sharingan—he even has the Byakugan too. Lord Haruto is amazing!"

Naruto was wide-eyed in shock. He remembered clearly: the Byakugan belonged to Hinata and Neji.

And in the Chūnin Exams, his very first opponent had been Neji of the Hyūga clan.

"But wait… kekkei genkai are supposed to be inherited at birth, right?" Sakura interjected. She had once dreamed of learning Wood Release, only to be told that kekkei genkai couldn't be acquired after birth.

Wood Release implied Senju blood.

Sharingan—Uchiha blood.

Byakugan—the Hyūga clan's gift.

If Haruto had all three… then he bore the bloodlines of Senju, Uchiha, and Hyūga alike.

How was that possible?

"Well…" Kakashi frowned. "From a genetic standpoint, it isn't impossible."

"For example, if Haruto's father carried Senju and Hyūga blood, while his mother was from the Uchiha clan…"

What Kakashi did not reveal aloud was that Haruto also carried the blood of the Uzumaki clan.

It was no exaggeration: every great clan in the shinobi world, if they had some famed ability, it seemed to manifest within Haruto.

Even genetics could not explain this.

The truth was, Kakashi was offering a convenient explanation—for Haruto's sake.

In his heart, Kakashi suspected that Haruto had mastered some kind of secret technique.

Just as Kakuzu had with Earth Grudge Fear, stealing hearts and gaining others' chakra attributes.

And the reasoning behind this suspicion…

Was none other than the Second Hokage—Senju Tobirama.

That man had created countless forbidden and secret techniques in his lifetime.

Even Edo Tensei, a jutsu that defied the natural order itself.

So, what was so impossible about a forbidden jutsu that could strip another's kekkei genkai?

Moreover—Haruto was undeniably a descendant of the Senju. He had grown up in the Senju compound itself.

Kakashi had even confirmed this with the Third Hokage, Sarutobi Hiruzen:

Haruto was not of Hashirama's line… but Tobirama's.

It was entirely possible that Tobirama had left behind such a secret technique for his clan.

Perhaps no one could master it… until Haruto.

And with it, he had risen as the one closest to the Sage of Six Paths.

That—at least—was the explanation Hiruzen and Kakashi found most reasonable.

Of course, if it was truly Tobirama's secret, then it was also one of Konoha's deepest secrets.

Meanwhile, under their attentive gazes, Haruto completed the final stage of surgery, extracting every last bone fragment from Lee's body.

The procedure went without the slightest complication—smooth from beginning to end.

"Alright. The suturing is your job."

Haruto casually tossed the scalpel into the tray and ordered his assistant to stitch Lee closed.

Then he strode confidently out of the operating room.

As expected, the moment he stepped out, Kakashi and the others rushed up at once, eager to hear Lee's condition.
