A Jinchūriki being able to resist genjutsu isn't some mysterious special trait.
The mechanics had been clearly explained even in the shinobi academies: to dispel a genjutsu, another person only needs to channel their chakra into the victim's body to disrupt the illusion and break it.
That was why Killer B, even when caught in Sasuke's genjutsu, could still move — Gyūki simply interfered from within.
Right now, Senju Haruto didn't possess the Mangekyō Sharingan, nor was genjutsu his specialty.
But he had something neither Uchiha Itachi nor Shisui had ever wielded.
Sage Arts.
Once he entered Sage Mode, both the power and range of his techniques skyrocketed. And Haruto's Sage Mode was nothing less than perfect.
By focusing his Sage Chakra directly into his Sharingan, he could vastly amplify any genjutsu he cast.
In a single instant of eye contact, he pulled Yugito Nii into an illusionary world.
At the same time, his right eye pierced deep into her body, targeting Matatabi — the Two-Tails sealed within her — and ensnaring it in a genjutsu of Sage-level potency.
With both host and tailed beast trapped in slumber, their chakras could no longer disturb one another.
Which meant there was no way for them to break free.
Thud!
Under the total hypnosis of Haruto's Sharingan, Yugito's graceful body lost balance and crumpled to the ground.
Haruto made sure she wouldn't wake before he left the village.
With that potential threat neutralized, he released both Sage Mode and his Sharingan, then pressed deeper into the prison.
Because there weren't enough cells, over a dozen members of the Uchiha clan had been crammed together.
And due to the Sharingan's dangerous nature, the Sandaime Hokage, Sarutobi Hiruzen, had given explicit orders: no guard was to approach their cell lightly.
The risk of being caught in a genjutsu and forced to aid in their escape was far too high.
So when Haruto arrived, there was no one else — only himself and the gathered Uchiha.
"Haruto…"
The clan members resting inside quickly noticed his arrival and recognized him immediately.
Even though their coup had failed, hatred toward the village still burned hot in their eyes.
In their minds, it was Konoha's rejection that had driven them to this point.
The village's distrust of the Uchiha had led directly to today's disaster.
"You damn brat!"
The moment they saw him, anger flared uncontrollably. Several stepped to the cell door, activating their Sharingan without hesitation.
For the Uchiha, aside from Fire Style, genjutsu was their greatest weapon.
In the next instant, nearly every eye turned crimson, tomoe spinning as they unleashed genjutsu at him from all sides, seeking to bind his mind.
But Haruto was no fool.
His knowledge of the Sharingan surpassed every man and woman in this cell combined.
Those without even a Mangekyō were in no position to flaunt their eyes before him.
"Last time, we were only caught off guard," one Uchiha snarled. "We didn't realize you were from the Senju clan!"
During the confrontation at Naka Shrine, their attention had been fixed entirely on Itachi — the traitor.
They'd been so focused on killing him, they'd underestimated Haruto completely.
That, they believed, was why they'd fallen victim to his Wood Release.
At least… that's what every Uchiha here told themselves.
"But now, with so many of us unleashing our genjutsu together, even you can't stand against it!"
"Coming here alone… the biggest mistake of your life, Senju Haruto!"
"With your Wood Release, you'll help us break out of here!"
Excitement began to ripple through the cell.
From multiple angles, from every direction, their illusions converged — a barrage even Haruto couldn't possibly evade.
"I declare the second coup d'état begins now! No one can withstand the power of the Sharingan! This power—"
But before the shouting could crest, Haruto's cold voice cut through it all.
"This power… is pathetic."
Lifting his head, he swept his gaze across the room, eyes as frigid as steel.
An overwhelming pressure radiated from him, snuffing out every voice in an instant.
The Uchiha present gasped as one, eyes widening in disbelief.
"That's… the Sharingan?"
"Not just a Sharingan — three tomoe…"
"Did he kill Fugaku and take the clan head's eyes?"
"No… if they were transplanted, they'd stay permanently active, constantly draining chakra. But Haruto… he's activating and deactivating them freely."
"Could it be because of his Wood Release?"
Speculation swept the room, but the deeper reaction was shock.
Especially among the three-tomoe wielders — the elite of their clan — the sight churned the heart like a storm-tossed sea.
Opening a Sharingan at such a young age was already rare. Achieving three tomoe at that age was extraordinary.
And beyond that, Haruto wielded Wood Release — a power that terrified even the strongest Uchiha.
Most staggering of all…
There were hundreds of Uchiha here, and nearly a tenth bore the full three tomoe.
Such a massive barrage of genjutsu, unleashed in unison, should have crushed anyone.
Yet Haruto stood untouched.
"Heh…"
Haruto's quiet laugh sent a chill creeping down every spine in the cell.
If their genjutsu couldn't touch him, that meant only one thing:
His Sharingan was of a higher order than theirs.
"Wh–what are you laughing at…?" one man stammered, his throat bobbing nervously.
It was the question sitting in all their minds.
Tension. Dread. Fear. Every negative emotion seemed to coil tighter with each heartbeat.
Some of the older Uchiha had already guessed the truth — Haruto's appearance here likely meant he intended to wipe them out.
"You fools think awakening the Sharingan makes you strong," Haruto said, his voice low and grim. "Let me show you what the Sharingan's true power looks like."
His eyes flared, and his genjutsu swept the cell like a tidal wave.
One by one, Uchiha collapsed, twitching as they hit the floor.
Within a few breaths, only those with three tomoe remained standing — and even they numbered fewer than twenty.
Every single one of them, the strongest Uchiha in the room.
