Chapter 77 - A New Lease on Life

The ride over to Ramon's apartment was a complete blur to me; the emotional distress and possibility of my entire life collapsing made it hard to focus. I could only think about my one escape from reality, the pleasure he had made me feel with his body, and the promises he had whispered into my ears afterwards.

'I'm sorry, but I can't forget you, Lois, not after tasting you. I can now say confidently that your husband doesn't deserve a woman like you.'

Just the memory of his voice was enough to elicit a physical reaction, my core temperature skyrocketing as a heavy flush spread across my cheeks. But at the same time, I couldn't help but worry about how he would react to the news.

My heart skipped a beat as a nervous pang made my stomach flip; the anticipation was killing me. I needed to find out, I needed to know whether I had made the biggest mistake of my life, or finally broken free from the broken cycle that had kept me trapped, for as long as I could remember.

--

By the time I had parked the car, walked behind the restaurant, and up the set of stairs to the apartment door, I was barely standing on my feet. The emotions flooding my body had made me lightheaded and unsteady on my feet, and I nearly tipped over when I raised my hand to knock on the door.

I tapped on the door three times, each one sounding like a gunshot to my ears as I fought the urge to run away. But I was tired of the lies and suppressing my emotions; I needed to confront my problems for once in my life.

There was a brief pause as I listened for any movement behind the door, and after a few seconds, I was almost ready to knock again when the door opened as Ramon answered, "Lois?"

I held my breath as I watched his eyes widen with surprise before frowning as he looked me over, "Lois, what's going on? Are you hurt?"

A sigh of relief nearly escaped me as I watched his cold blue eyes melt with concern as he took a step forward and reached out, gently grabbing my arm. In that instant, I knew why Ramon had entranced Meg; he felt solid as a rock, a guardian that would step forward and shield you from all of life's problems that threatened to crush you.

"I-I need to tell you something," I stammered out before taking a deep steadying breath and looking straight into Ramon's eye, "I-I'm pregnant."

I watched Ramon's mental gears come to a grinding halt as he processed the bombshell I had just dropped on him without warning. I flinched, ready for him to explode or push me away, but after a second, I saw a light flare to life in his eyes, "A-are you sure?"

"Yes, a-and before you ask, it's yours, b-but if you don't want me to keep it I-I can-"

"Don't even finish that thought," Ramon interrupted as he squeezed my arm and looked me dead in the eyes, "Don't think about me or anyone else, just say what you and only you want."

Ramon's intensity made me pause for a second, but it didn't take me long to respond, "I-I want to be content for once in my life, not to regret everything I've ever done and feel stuck where I am out of guilt. And I think being with you is the best way to do that."

"Well then, that settles it," Ramon answered with a confident grin, "You want to be with me, and so do I."

My head spun as my hopes soared; it almost felt too easy. Where was the argument, the shouting, the screams, the storm of emotions that overtook logic, "B-but what about the-"

"As far as I'm concerned, it's your choice," Ramon answered without hesitation as he glanced down at my stomach, "Though I'm more than willing to support you and our child."

"A-are you sure? Raising a child is so expensive these days, and with how busy you must be with the restaurant, could you really juggle a newborn and me at once?" I should have just shut up and accepted Ramon's words at face value, but I wouldn't repeat my past mistakes, diving into something new and exciting while ignoring the consequences, "And where would we even live, you, me, Meg, the baby. We can't all fit in this apartment!"

Still, despite my very real concerns, Ramon only smiled reassuringly, "Lois, every day I open those doors downstairs, I make nearly twenty thousand dollars. And I've barely been open for a month, by the time the baby's born, you'll never have to worry about money again. And if I really need to, I could hire a whole staff to take over running the restaurant so I could focus on you. And I was already planning to get a bigger place soon enough; I don't have a problem moving that up by a few months."

I shook my head in disbelief, "Why are you doing all of this? It doesn't make sense."

I could feel myself beginning to cry, but before I could start, Ramon reached up and cupped my chin, forcing me to look into his eyes, "I'm doing this, Lois, because I want you to be mine. And once something is mine, I take very good care of it, because I only claim things and people that are worth taking care of."

An affectionate warmth spread through my entire body as Ramon gently wiped the tears away from my eyes with his thumb, and with that single act, I knew everything was going to turn out right.

But now that I was somewhat calm, I became aware of how close his body was to mine, his hands on my body, and the intoxicating smell that always clung to him like sinful cologne. In an instant, my relief turned into desire, and an urge to celebrate my newfound freedom.

While staring into Ramon's eyes, I brought his thumb down to my mouth and, with a steamy sigh, wrapped my lips around his finger. I watched Ramon's eyes light up as I used my tongue to lick at his skin, tasting him and flooding my body with his arousing essence.

"So I guess there's another reason why you came here tonight," Ramon muttered with a dark chuckle, and I felt a shameful blush spread across my cheeks, even as I continued to suckle on his thumb, "Let's move to somewhere more appropriate."

I could only nod and reluctantly let go of Ramon's thumb as he moved aside, letting me step inside. From there, I followed him to the living area, where I stood uncertain as Ramon sat on the couch, "Take off your clothes."

I blushed but didn't hesitate to follow his orders, unbuttoning my shirt and tossing it aside before doing the same with my pants. For a moment, I regretted the fact that I was only wearing a plain set of bra and panties, but with the way Ramon's eyes roamed hungrily over my body he didn't mind in the least.

I went to take a step forward, but the sound of a door opening behind me made my body freeze, "Baby, where the hell did you-oh...well that explains it."

I looked over my shoulder to see Meg staring at me with a knowing smirk on her face, wearing nothing but an oversized shirt, "I knew you wouldn't be able to keep away for long."

"I-I can explain," I stammered, only for Meg to roll her eyes and laugh, "What's there to explain? I know how good it feels. At this point, I couldn't even stay away if I tried. I'll let you have him all to yourself for tonight, but don't get used to it."

Then, without another word, Meg turned and vanished back into the bedroom, leaving me at a bit of a loss.

"Don't worry about Megan; she has Patty to keep her company," Ramon reassured me as he spread his legs apart, drawing my eyes to the crotch of his pants. "Now, where were we?"

"You told me to take off my clothes," I replied somewhat dumbly, and Ramon grinned, "That's right, how could I possibly forget. Now, why don't you come here and get down on your knees? I want to see what else that pretty little mouth of yours can do."

His commanding tone nearly melted me into a puddle, but I managed to take the wobbled steps to stand in front of him before slowly sinking down to my knees, putting my eyes at crotch level.

I looked back up at Ramon for direction, and he grinned, "You know what to do."

My breath hitched, but my hands eagerly reached out, holding onto Ramon's legs before slowly sliding up along his inner thighs until my hands were on his crotch, where I could feel the burning heat of his desire.
