Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Just a Boy Named Nura

The year is After Earth 2257.

Earth is no longer what it once was.

Three centuries ago, it was consumed by a cataclysm. The cause: a machine called Gundam Malaya—an experimental Mobile Suit meant to unify mankind during the Age of Division. But it did the opposite. It went berserk.

What began as hope became the calamity of mankind.

Entire continents vanished. Oceans boiled into the sky. Civilization collapsed. And when all seemed lost, a pilot named Zhang Lei challenged Malaya in one final battle. Both he and the machine disappeared into a blinding explosion that tore space apart.

From that moment, the Black Halo was born—a massive, stable black hole hanging silently in Earth's orbit. It has never moved. It has never spoken. But it's always there. A wound in the sky.

Some fear it. Others revere it.

To Nura Elvarn, it was simply part of history.

A Quiet Childhood

Nura grew up in Habitat 3A, a mid-tier residential zone located within Colony Arcadia, one of the more peaceful orbital colonies in Earth's L1 sector. His parents were engineers—decent, quiet people. His mother worked on drone systems for agriculture domes. His father maintained the colony's aging atmospheric processors.

Their life was modest, routine. Not rich. Not poor.

Nura had school. He had friends. He played zero-g soccer in the youth dome, snuck off to watch unauthorized mech battles, and complained about homework like everyone else.

He wasn't destined for greatness. He wasn't haunted by tragedy.

He was just… Nura.

But the sky always fascinated him.

Choosing the Uniform

When Nura was seventeen, he applied for the Earth Sphere Defense Authority cadet program—not out of desperation or revenge, but because he wanted to see more.

The colony life, safe as it was, felt small. He wanted to understand the world beyond it. The relics of the old Earth. The myths of Zhang Lei. The truth about the Gundams and the Black Halo.

His parents didn't stop him. They simply asked:

> "Are you doing this to run away?"

And he answered:

"No. I'm doing this to move forward."

He passed the entrance exams with solid scores. Not exceptional, but enough. His instructors called him adaptable. Calm under pressure. Quick-thinking.

In truth, Nura wasn't a genius or a prodigy. He was simply focused. He trained hard, listened more than he spoke, and pushed himself quietly. He didn't seek attention—but others started to notice him anyway.

At twenty, he graduated as a Mobile Suit pilot.

At twenty-one, after a standard tour as a logistics guard, he received a surprising reassignment.

Scorpio Squad

Scorpio Squad had a reputation.

Not criminal. Not elite. Just… different.

It was made up of pilots who didn't quite fit the mold—some too bold, some too reckless, some too unpredictable. But they got results. And they needed someone level-headed to balance them.

That's where Nura came in.

He wasn't the youngest, but he was the most grounded. The quiet type who earned respect without demanding it. He didn't argue. He solved problems.

The captain of the squad, Graven, was a former ace with a sharp eye and little patience for ego. She greeted Nura with a nod and a stack of tactical reports. That was it.

Scorpio Squad had seven pilots:

Graven – Captain. Cold. Strategic. Unshakable.

Kaelen "Drift" Muro – Sniper specialist, antisocial but dependable.

Ilya "Cutter" Renn – Loud, unpredictable, favored close combat.

Torrin "Ghost" Varr – Quiet infiltration expert, ran stealth ops.

Raya "Bloom" Vannis – Communications officer, empathetic and brilliant.

Juno "Flare" Kenri – Explosives specialist, with a creative mind for chaos.

Lars "Bulk" Halvern – Tank pilot, loud but good-hearted.

And now… Nura, their Vice-Captain.
