Chapter 127: Give Him the Whole Deal!
"Really?" Ning Tian stood up excitedly, instinctively reaching out to grasp Lin Yun's hand.
Xiao Xiao frowned slightly at her action.
She was still in Lin Yun's arms, and yet Ning Tian was holding her boyfriend's hand right in front of her. What was this supposed to mean—did she want to cuck her face-to-face?
Wu Feng, standing nearby, nearly lost her composure as well. Even though she understood why Ning Tian was so excited, Lü Tong's nature made it impossible for her to stomach this scene.
Regardless of what Xiao Xiao or Wu Feng were thinking, Ning Tian gripped Lin Yun's large hand tightly, her gaze filled with burning anticipation.
"If… if you can give me the Immortal Herb and let my Martial Soul evolve into the Nine Treasures Glazed Pagoda, our Nine Treasures Glazed Sect can offer you any reward you desire!" Ning Tian said earnestly. "Gold Soul Coins, Soul Bones, rare metals, or other precious treasures—anything our Nine Treasures Glazed Sect possesses, you may have it!"
"Even if you want me, I…" Ning Tian's delicate face flushed red, her expression bashful. "I can do anything that makes you happy!"
Play any little game you want to play—
She didn't say that last part aloud, but it was already written all over her face.
Lin Yun did not underestimate Ning Tian's yearning for the Nine Treasures Realm. She truly was willing to give up everything for it. In fact, any Soul Master of the Seven Treasures Glazed Pagoda could go just as far as Ning Tian—or even further.
And that was precisely what Lin Yun had been waiting for.
Wu Feng's face turned a shade of green. It wasn't just her expression; she even felt as if something heavy had been placed atop her head—like a crown she had unknowingly given herself.
Meanwhile, Xiao Xiao's stunningly beautiful face darkened, her eyes narrowing as she glared coldly at Ning Tian.
Case closed—it really was a pair of backstabbing plastic sisters.
Lin Yun ignored the strange tension between Xiao Xiao and Wu Feng, as well as Ning Tian's direct offer. Instead, he spoke meaningfully, "It's about time. Teacher Mu should be arriving soon. Today's the advancement examination, isn't it?"
Ning Tian immediately caught on and nodded in agreement. "Right, Teacher Mu should be here any minute. After the exam, Yun-ge, will you have time to celebrate with us?"
The two exchanged a glance and smiled, sitting down in sync with perfect tacit understanding.
Because right after Ning Tian spoke, Mu Jin appeared at the classroom door, stepping in gracefully on high heels.
"Students, it's been a whole break. How have your holidays been?" Mu Jin's gentle smile and casual tone made her sound more like a friend than a teacher.
After a month apart, Teacher Mu Jin was still the same as ever—familiar and approachable, with no sense of distance even after thirty days. The students relaxed immediately, chatting excitedly to greet her.
"It was great, thank you, Teacher Mu Jin!"
"We've been training hard during the break, Teacher Mu Jin! We definitely won't let you down during the advancement exam!"
"..."
Mu Jin listened to everyone with a warm smile, showing not the slightest impatience. When the noise finally subsided, she clapped her hands lightly, signaling for quiet.
The students cooperated immediately, and the once-lively classroom fell silent enough to hear a pin drop.
That was the charm of Mu Jin's presence—no one could bring themselves to dislike her. On the contrary, every student held deep respect for their teacher.
If it had been Zhou Yi instead, that old woman would have relied solely on authority and the threat of expulsion to control her class. There were almost no students who truly respected her—most submitted only out of fear of her tyranny.
"As long as everyone enjoyed their break, the teacher is happy for you all," Mu Jin said with a warm smile. "I also have full confidence in your cultivation. I believe every student in Class One will pass the advancement exam and continue studying with me for another year."
After finishing her words, Mu Jin turned toward the door and gave Wang Yan a slight nod.
Wang Yan smiled, adjusted the glasses on his nose, and stepped up to the podium. "Teacher Mu Jin has already said everything that needs to be said, so I won't waste time repeating it. Let's get straight to the main topic."
Aside from his somewhat twisted sense of honor regarding Shrek Academy, Wang Yan was actually a decent person—gentle, responsible toward his students, and professionally skilled in teaching. He also had a good sense of humor, which made his classes lively rather than dull.
But in the end, he was still someone thoroughly brainwashed by Shrek. To him, the academy's honor was more important than his own life.
"I'm sure all of you are well prepared. Today marks both the first day of school and the time for your advancement assessments. Please leave the classroom in order and proceed to the Beast Battle Arena for the exam," Wang Yan continued, nodding to Mu Jin before taking the lead out of the room.
"You all heard Teacher Wang," Mu Jin said, clapping her hands and raising her voice. "Starting from the first row, please leave in an orderly fashion and head to the arena!"
Each class had its own form of advancement assessment.
Classes One and Two, being Battle Soul Master classes, were required to face real combat against soul beasts—ranging from a minimum of one hundred years to a maximum of one thousand years in age. Meanwhile, Classes Three and Four, composed mainly of Support and Food-type Soul Masters without combat ability, had completely different forms of assessment.
By the time Lin Yun stepped out of Class One, two long lines had already formed outside—one for Class One, and another for Class Two.
As a member of Class One, Ning Tian would likely assist another Soul Master in combat against a soul beast. Her performance during the battle would then determine her score.
Her partner, unsurprisingly, was Wu Feng.
"Xiao Tian, that's roughly how your advancement exam will go. If you choose to team up with Wu Feng, the two of you will share the same battle, but the examiners will score each of you individually based on your performance," Mu Jin explained as she walked at the rear of the group alongside Lin Yun and the others.
"I understand, Teacher Mu," Ning Tian nodded slightly.
Seeing that Ning Tian understood, Mu Jin then turned to Lin Yun with a smile. "Xiao Yun, how about letting you be the first to go for our class?"
"Of course, no problem. Just watch me, Teacher Mu," Lin Yun replied with a grin.
A battle against soul beasts—how delightful!
Such a practical, hands-on assessment was perfect for him. Lin Yun was already eager to put on a spectacular display, to let everyone witness what the Beast Taming Sect truly represented.
Mu Jin's decision to let Lin Yun go first was simple—among all of Class One, his strength was the greatest, making him the ideal student to open with a strong impression.
Even though each grade had students specializing in different Martial Souls, competition still existed both openly and beneath the surface. Mu Jin intended to use this advancement exam to firmly establish Class One's dominance once and for all.
