Amon and Scarlett stepped out of Roland's house. Vetaal floated behind them, invisible again.
As they walked along the village path, Amon glanced at Scarlett and spoke calmly. "Thanks."
Scarlett did not look at him and continued walking forward. Her eyes remained fixed ahead as she asked in a neutral tone, "Why thank me?"
Amon smiled lightly as he walked beside her. "Of course for helping me out... to convince them."
Scarlett replied indifferently, still looking straight ahead. "It was nothing. I just did what was beneficial for me... and everyone. If we have a chance, then we should give our all. That's why I took your side."
Amon nodded slightly. "Yes... but you know... you are strong. At the peak of Master Ascendant... your words have more weight than mine. So it was really helpful."
Scarlett waved her hand dismissively. "Yeah yeah. I get that. It's alright. No need to thank me."
Amon took a small step closer to her. Their shoulders touched against each other lightly.
