As Amon stepped inside the grand palace, what came into view was a large hall.
The floor beneath his feet gleamed like polished glass, made of white marble streaked faintly with gold. He could see his reflection on it.
At the center stood a grand staircase, wide and elegant, splitting into two paths as it ascended toward the upper floors.
A thick red carpet flowed over each step, its edges embroidered with golden threads that shimmered faintly with enchantment.
Servants moved quietly along the sides, their footsteps barely audible against the marble floor.
"Wow!" Amon exclaimed in awe. It was as if he was in another world altogether. It's true that this was another world, but after living here for seventeen years, it had become his own world now.
Selena walked beside him. "Glad you like it. Uncle Bernard, show Amon his room," she said to the butler, Bernard.
Then she looked at Amon. "I will visit you later, once I get freshened up."
