Chapter 37 - I Fell in Love with You Again

After returning to Rome, Emma received a special invitation to attend a grand event in Venice, where she was to be honored for one of her fashion projects. She had no intention of going alone, so she turned to Victor with a playful smile and said:

"You know, the event would be a lot more fun if you were by my side."

Victor smiled, as if he'd been waiting for her to say that. "I was going with you even if you didn't ask."

And just like that, they found themselves at a luxurious palace overlooking one of Venice's sparkling canals, golden lights shimmering on the water, and an air of elegance wrapping around the entire scene. Emma wore a royal blue gown, effortlessly stunning, while Victor, in his classic black suit, hadn't taken his eyes off her since they arrived.

Amid the formal conversations and graceful music, Emma leaned closer and whispered into his ear:

"Are you comfortable?"

He looked at her mischievously. "More than you could ever imagine, as long as I'm with you."

She laughed softly, then tugged his hand and led him to the balcony overlooking the canal, where the air was fresher and the noise a little more distant. They stood there in silence for a moment, soaking in the magic around them.

Suddenly, fireworks lit up the sky, their colors dancing over the water. Emma gasped in wonder. "Oh my God! That's beautiful!"

Before she could even turn toward Victor, she felt his hand gently hold hers. She looked up to find him gazing at her differently—deeply—as if he were trying to say something without uttering a word.

"Emma," he whispered, "There are moments in life when everything suddenly makes sense... moments that make you realize every step you took was leading you here. This is one of those moments."

Her heart raced. She couldn't find her voice. But he didn't need her to. He simply lifted her hand and kissed it tenderly—a kiss that felt like a promise of something greater.

Their fingers intertwined naturally, as if drawn by an invisible bond, and they returned to the ballroom side by side, completely in sync, ignoring the admiring glances from guests around them.

Then, one of the event organizers approached with a cheerful smile.

"Emma, we've heard you have a beautiful voice. Would you consider performing a song tonight?"

Her eyes widened in surprise. She turned to Victor, silently pleading for help, but he only smiled slyly and said:

"I think we're all dying to hear you sing. Especially me."

She raised an eyebrow, whispering, "You knew about this?"

Holding her hand gently, he replied, "Maybe... But who could resist hearing your voice?"

Her heart thumped faster. She looked around for a moment, then sighed and gave in. She walked toward the grand piano, sat down, and closed her eyes briefly before her fingers began to move across the keys.

Her voice floated through the air like a warm breeze—soft, dreamy, as if it carried all the unspoken feelings she hadn't dared to express. And though she sang to a room full of people, her eyes never left Victor's. The song was hers, but the meaning belonged to him.

Victor listened, mesmerized, as if the entire world had faded away, leaving nothing but her voice echoing in his heart.

When she finished, silence hung for a heartbeat, before the hall erupted in applause. Victor approached her, gently took her hand, and leaned in to whisper where no one else could hear:

"I just fell in love with you all over again."
