Chapter 22 - When Chaos Meets Romance

One day, the quartet (Lara, Emma, Mike, and Victor) gathered at Mike's apartment. Lara and Mike were in the kitchen trying to prepare dinner together, while Emma and Victor waited in the dining room.

"Are you sure you know how to make this dish?" Mike asked with a skeptical tone, raising an eyebrow as he inspected the scattered ingredients in front of him.

"Of course! Everything is under control, just let me handle it!" Lara answered enthusiastically, tossing a random ingredient into the bowl without even glancing at the recipe.

"I think it would've been better if you read the recipe first!" Mike said sarcastically, while Lara continued mixing the ingredients boldly.

At that moment, Emma and Victor entered the kitchen, drawn in by the noise.

"Are you two serious?" Emma asked with a wide smile, looking at the chaos that had taken over the place.

Victor, trying to suppress his laughter, said, "I think this kitchen has turned into a battlefield! Is this cooking or a martial arts training session?"

Lara looked at them confidently and said with a grin, "You won't know until you taste the result!" Then she added teasingly, "If this recipe works, I'll become the Master Chef!"

While they laughed at the mess Mike and Lara had created, Victor picked up a bag of flour that was sitting on the table.

"I think it's time to add a special touch to this disaster!" Victor said in a conspiratorial tone, a mischievous smile playing on his lips.

Emma, who was busy watching Lara and Mike interact, didn't notice his movements at first. But suddenly, flour rained down on her, covering her face and clothes like a snowstorm.

"Victor! What did you do?!" Emma shouted in disbelief, looking down at herself now resembling a ghost in white.

Victor burst out laughing, placing his hands on his hips as he watched her try to brush the flour off her face. "I think the kitchen needed some new decor!" he joked, unable to stop laughing.

Fueled by the moment, Emma gave him a challenging look and said, "You're terrible, Victor! But just wait—you're not getting away with this!"

Quickly, she grabbed the bag of flour from the table, and before Victor could escape, she doused him completely, covering him in a thick layer of flour.

"Now we're even!" Emma said with a victorious smile, watching his features vanish under the white coating.

Mike and Lara paused their cooking, then burst into uncontrollable laughter as they saw Victor and Emma both covered in flour, with the kitchen transformed into a hilarious battleground.

"Is this a kitchen or a costume party?" Mike quipped, trying to hold back his laughter.

Lara, holding her stomach from laughing too hard, said, "If this is what happens when we cook dinner, I think we're ordering takeout!"

The atmosphere was filled with laughter and chaos—it felt like a moment they would never forget.

After cleaning up the kitchen, Victor decided to take a quick shower to wash off the flour. He went into the bathroom while Emma watched Mike and Lara argue over who would pay for the food they ordered.

A few minutes later, Victor emerged from the bathroom, a towel wrapped around his waist, water droplets dripping from his wet hair. He walked into Mike's room, drying his hair with a small towel.

Emma didn't know Victor had finished showering. She opened the door without thinking to look for her phone, which she had forgotten there. When she lifted her eyes, she found herself face-to-face with Victor in that state.

Emma felt heat rise to her cheeks and quickly turned around to hide her flushed face. "Sorry! I didn't know you were here..." she said nervously.

Victor, clearly enjoying her embarrassment, gave a sly smile and walked slowly toward her. He gently grabbed her wrist and pulled her closer.

"Why are you blushing like that?" he asked softly, his eyes fixed on hers.

"I'm not blushing! It's just... you should put some clothes on!" she said, trying to avoid his gaze.

Victor gently raised her other hand that was covering her face and moved it away from her cheek. "But I love seeing you like this... you look beautiful."

He leaned in slowly, his eyes tracing every detail of her expression. Then, with a tender touch, he lifted her chin. Before he could say another word, he placed a soft kiss on her lips—a kiss that made time stop for a moment.

But suddenly, the door burst open violently, and Lara stepped in shouting, "Victor! Where's the cup that..." She stopped immediately when she saw what was happening.

"Oh... looks like I picked a bad time!" Lara said with a sly grin before turning around and adding, "Carry on, carry on."

Emma quickly pushed Victor away, covering her face again. "It's your fault! Why didn't you lock the door?!"

Victor just laughed.

A little while later:

Emma went into the bathroom to freshen up, leaving Victor waiting in the room, leaning back on the couch with his hands behind his head. He pretended to be patient, but inside, he was replaying the image of her flushed face—and couldn't help but smile.

After a short while, Emma came out of the bathroom wearing comfortable clothes, drying her hair with a small towel.

Victor, staring at her with quiet awe, stood and walked toward her slowly. "You look like you just stepped out of a romantic movie."

Emma stopped and looked at him with raised eyebrows. "Is that another attempt to sound sweet?"

"No, I'm serious this time," Victor said, gently taking the towel from her hands. "Let me dry your hair properly. Looks like you don't know how to do it right."

"I'm fine! No need..." she began, but stopped when Victor started drying her hair with gentle, warm movements.

She was so close to him, she could feel his breath. When he finished, he leaned in slightly and whispered, "You know, this color really suits you."

Emma, trying to hide how affected she was, replied nervously, "Thanks... but I think you're staring too much!"

"How can I not?" Victor replied with a soft smile, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear before leaning in closer.

Emma's heartbeat began to race as he leaned in more, just barely brushing her neck with his lips—when suddenly, the room door burst open.

"Sorry to interrupt, but dinner's here!" Mike shouted, holding a food bag in his hand.

Emma froze on the spot, while Victor smoothly stepped back, hands in his pockets, and looked at Mike with a sarcastic gaze.

"You always have the perfect timing, don't you?" Victor said calmly.

Emma turned quickly, covering her face with the towel again. "I'll go set the table!"

Mike laughed. "Did you say something? Didn't hear a thing. Anyway, dinner's ready!"

And the scene ended in light chaos, with Emma trying to calm herself down and Victor standing there, smiling like nothing had happened.
