Chapter 1 - Chapter one

Liora's POV

"Your presence is needed in the palace right now, the prince is injured come attend to him now," a servant yelled as she ran to my hut.

"What," I mumbled as I hastily packed my herbs and equipments. I ran as fast as I could to the palace.

"Stop," a scary looking guard at the palace said to me as I tried to walk past the palace gate.

"I'm here to see the prince," I muttered clutching unto my bag.

"What would a filthy peasant like you have to do with the prince? Even if he needed a slut it won't be someone of your class, leave now or you'll face a harsh consequence," he sneered.

This has been my life since I and my father stepped foot into this pack, they treated us like we were filthy rags, they had no regard whatsoever for us.

I've been enduring all this for a long time now, today won't be different, I had work to do, the prince needs me.

"I'm speaking the truth," I replied after finding the voice to speak. "The prince did ask of me."

No matter the words that cane out of my mouth, they won't believe me.

"She was really called by the alpha," the servant who called me here said to them.

"Ohhh, sorry about that," he apologized quickly and allowed us to pass through the palace gate.

Who's this lady? It seems she holds a high position for the guards to reply her in that matter.

"This way to the alpha," she said as she led me to a small building behind the big palace halls.

I followed her quietly. I've been here a few times to heal the alpha, and I admire him so much I would give up my life for him.

We walked into the little building and I saw the alpha lying on the floor gritting in pain.

"Alpha," I whispered as I beheld the gruesome sight, wondering what could be the cause of this.

"The alpha was attacked, he doesn't want the palace to know," the lady said.

I nodded. After all it was the palace, there could a conspiracy going on.

"I would need some space please," I said to the lady and she nodded politely and walked out of the building.

I didn't need any space, I wanted to be alone with the alpha, even if it was for a short amount of time, even if it's something I can never attain I still try to reach for it.

No matter how hard I try, no matter how hard u stretch, it's still unattainable but it's alright if it is in my heae, right?

"That hurts," he mumbled as he winced in pain.

"Sorry, I'll try my best to make sure it hurts less," I replied.

His wound was large, I wondered what kind of crazy werewolf would do this to the heir of the throne.

I transferred some energy from my source and his words began to close slowly. I was glad my energy was enough to cure him.

I was useless for all other things but this. They mocked me for my inability to turn into a werewolf and I began to wonder if indeed I was cursed as they say.

"I'm all done now, your highness. Your wound should be completely healed in a day or two," I explained as I packed my things back into my bag.

The prince was blind due to an attack some year ago. It was sad he couldn't see the shinning sun not the beautiful stars nor the trees or the colourful birds.

All he could see was darkness. But in exchange for his sight, the goddess blessed him with insane senses. He could smell anyone from a mile away. That's why he's still a great warrior even he was blind.

"I will take my leave now," I repeated rising to leave

As I stood up to leave, I heard him shift on the bed.

"You're leaving already?" his voice was low but clear.

"Yes, your highness. You need rest," I said softly, trying not to show how nervous I was.

I turned to walk away, but before I could take a step, I felt his hand grab my wrist gently. My heart skipped a beat.

"Stay," he whispered.

I froze. My breath caught in my throat. His touch was warm, firm but not rough. I looked at his face, his eyes staring ahead, seeing nothing. Yet somehow, it felt like he was looking straight at me.

"But… your highness…" I stuttered, not knowing what else to say.

"Just for a while," he added.

I slowly nodded, sitting back down beside him. My stomach flipped. I tried to calm my breathing, but I knew he could hear how fast my heart was beating.

There was silence for a moment. The air felt heavy, like it carried something unspoken.

"Your scent..." he finally said, his voice softer now. "It does things to me."

I bit my lower lip, my cheeks burning. I looked down, unable to meet his face even though I knew he couldn't see me.

He moved closer to me and placed his face on my neck, his hot breath brushing against my skin.

I stiffened. I couldn't move, I didn't know what to think about this situation but all I knew was I loved it and wished it would never end.

I closed my eyes too, immersing myself in the moment, enjoying the short moment I know would never last.

Suddenly, he rose and tilted his head.

"Your highness, what is wrong?" I asked genuinely concerned.

"Nothing," he mumbled.

Soon, the lady from earlier walked into the room and then I realized that he had sensed her from a far and stood up to avoid stories.

As much as it was the right thing, I hated it, I hated it so much.

"Your highness, the elders seeks your presence immediately, it's very urgent."
