I didn't sleep
How could I?
I had watched my husband turn into something that should only exist in nightmares.
When the sun finally rose, I didn't feel warmth. Just confusion. Along with excruciating anxiety
What had I gotten myself into?
What was Lucien Black?
When I left my room to find answers, the mansion was silent, except for a maid scrubbing blood off the hallway floor.
"Is someone hurt?" I asked. She froze.
Then stood, bowed her head, and whispered, "It's best not to ask, my lady."
Lucien had told me never to enter his wing. So naturally, I did.
His part of the estate was colder — literally. My breath fogged as I stepped inside. The halls were lined with strange symbols that pulsed faintly when I passed.
I found a library — ancient, dusty, lined with books bound in leather and chains.
One book lay open.
In it was a sketch.
Of me.
I gasped.
Below was text in another language. I recognized one word: "Lunara."
"Get out."
Lucien's voice slammed against the silence like thunder.
I spun around. He stood in the doorway, shirtless, eyes glowing gold.
"You were told never to come here."
I held up the book. "Why is there a drawing of me in this? What is Lunara?"
His jaw clenched. "Where did you see that word?"
"It's my mother's name. Isn't it?"
"No," he growled. "It was. Until she betrayed our kind."
I took a step back. "Our kind?"
Lucien's voice was ice. "You were never meant to exist, Zaria. You're the child of a traitor. Half-wolf… and half something worse."
Lucien locked the library and dragged me to a hidden chamber beneath the estate.
There, he told me the trut
Twenty years ago, a rogue she-wolf named Lunara vanished after falling in love with a Shadow Seer — a cursed, extinct bloodline with the power to see death before it happens.
That Shadow Seer… was my father.
"You're a fusion of two bloodlines that should never have mixed," Lucien said, pacing. "It's forbidden."
"Why?" I whispered.
"Because Shadow blood doesn't just see death…" he paused, staring into my soul, "it draws it."
That night, I had my first vision.
Blood. Fire. Wolves turning on each other.
Lucien… on his knees, bleeding.
And me… standing over him with black eyes and lightning in my veins.
I woke up screaming.
The mirror across the room cracked.
And my fingers sparked with a faint black light.
Before I could tell Lucien about the vision, the estate was attacked.
Wolves — rogue ones — broke through the gates. They weren't normal. Their eyes were red. They moved like shadows
Lucien fought like a god. His beast form was larger, faster than any of them.
But one of the rogues charged at me.
I didn't scream.
I reacted.
I held out my hand, and a wave of black flame erupted, consuming the wolf instantly.
Everyone stopped.
Lucien stared at me, wide-eyed.
"What did you do?" he asked, voice hoarse.
"I… I don't know."
But in that moment, I did. Something inside me had awakened. And i wanted out.
After the attack, Lucien examined my back. A mark had appeared — glowing black with swirling runes.
"It's your bloodline seal," he said, grimly. "Only one being in history ever had this… the first Shadow Queen."
"But she died centuries ago."
He met my gaze.
"Or so we thought."
Lucien confessed something he had never told anyone.
"My father was murdered by Shadow Seers. That's why I hate them. That's why I almost killed you the night you arrived."
I stepped back.
"But you didn't."
"Because something stopped me," he whispered. "Something called to me."
I felt it too.
A thread.
A pull.
A bond that shouldn't exist.
That night , I heard Lucien's voice in my head.
"Zaria?"
I turned. He wasn't there.
"How are you in my thoughts?"
"Because our bond is real," he replied. "You didn't just marry me. You soul-linked with me."
My head throbbed.
"But we didn't complete any ritual."
"We didn't need to," he said. "Your blood did it for us."
🩹 SCENE 10: The Betrayal
The next day, I received a letter.
From my mother.
But… she was supposed to be too weak to write.
"Do not trust Lucien," the letter said. "He doesn't want to protect you. He wants to use you… to open the Gate."What gate?
I asked Lucien. He went pale.
"There's only one Gate," he whispered. "The Veil — between the living
That night, Lucien called a council meeting. Other Alphas came. They saw my mark. One of them bowed to me.
"Your Majesty," he said.
I froze.
Lucien stood.
And with a haunted voice, he said:
"Zaria is not just my wife. She is the reincarnated Shadow Queen."
Gasps. Screams. Fury.
One elder roared, "She must die!"
Lucien stepped between me and the council.
"You'll kill her… over my dead body."
The room erupted into chaos.
And all I could do was clutch my chest — because something inside me whispered:
"Let me out."
