Cherreads

Chapter 11 - #11

Bending downwards for the convenience of talking to the 'mysterious beauty', the girl could also smell the light and soothing fragrance of the roses. It was slightly sharp but not too overwhelming, over-all it was a very good fragrance.

"Hey..." She slowly called out to the boy, her voice was gentle tinged with slight nervousness as she thought about how to approach the topic that had been making her so curious.

As she was thinking about giving up on this and scolding herself inside her mind for her meddling and reckless behaviour, the boy finally moved.

The moment the boy moved he caught the girl's attention. The moment she snapped out of her internal self scolding session, her eyes collided with a pair of dark eyes. Eyes so black and full of depth, reminiscent of the depth of the sea.

Dark, untouched by the light.

Somehow so captivating that they seemed to be pulling her into them.

Second thing that came in her sight was the small, light beauty mark under his left eye. The mark was so light that it almost looked red under the sunlight.

His pale skin shimmered under the sunlight making her feel as if the boy was an elf prince who had accidentally stumbled here in this world, straight out of his own world of fantasy.

The boy's dark eyes expressed his curiosity on being approached out of nowhere. This whole image was so beautiful in her eyes that she even forgot to blink.

The boy realising that he may not get any answer if this went on decided to speak " May I help you?" He asked in a flat voice.

The girl saw the boy's thin, pale pink lips thta were usually pursed in a straight line, move followed with his voice. She felt her cheeks heat up slightly due to embarrassment. " You've got a nice voic--" she mumbled but stopped herself as some images flashed in her mind ...

" You've got pretty eyes"

"Thank you"

' screech!!!!---'

Her ears started ringing as those unbearable memories resurfaced again, causing the girl's complexion go pale and her lips to tremble. She couldn't do it....'no this can't be happening ---' she thought as she clutched her head.

Cold sweat oozed on her face and back as she felt a dull ache all over her body accompanied by a burning sensation as if the temprature was rising rapidly.

She felt a queasy sensation in her stomach making her feel nauseous, a fleeting sense of panicking surged taking over her body making even breathing difficult.

Her vision blurred and she struggled to move her body.

Suddenly, she felt a warm touch on her shoulder. Her eyes moved and suddenly met again with those dark eyes. So dark ....so calm making her involuntarily seize her struggle for just a fleeting second.

" It's okay.... breathe..." Then a very pleasant voice guided her, assuring her that it was okay and guided her to breathe. The voice was so flat, without any fluctuating emotions or tones but it made her feel very calm.

She followed his instructions, this was the breathing exercises taught in her rehab to help with such situations.

She raised her watery eyes and looked at the boy....her thoughts all messed up and all over the place.

"T... thanks..." She mumbled as she slowly stabalized her breathing .

" It's alright" the boy said in the sae flat voice but his wyes softened as he took his hand back from her shoulder.

" So...?" He asked wondering why this stranger had approached him in the first place.

"So?" The girl repated, a little slow to realise what the boy meant by that.

As she looked at the boy and calmed down a little, it finally hit her why she had come here in the first place.

"Ummm..cough ..." She coughed slightly in embarrassment before continuing " well... I..uh... I have been seeing you here in the same spot every time I pass by here... for like past few months....um.... I am a patient here...my name's Avery Joyce..."as she tried to explain she realised how...um... creepy and weird this sounded.

The more she realised that the more her voice faltered. In the end she mumbled " I was just... curious..." . She felt so embarrassed that she couldn't even lift her eyes to look a the boy ' this is so dumb.' she thought as she almost closed her eyes.

The boy looked at the clearly nervous girl, taking a moment to process the information just dumped on him, he decided to answer before the girl got even more embarrassed.

" So...a patient. Curious about me? why?" He asked not seeing anything about himself thta could have possibly roused anyone's curiousity.

Seeing the girl finally look at him again and nod he said " I ...hmmm ... I have been hit on before....but this is a refreshing? way to approach"

His voice was still flat as before, but this time instead of making her calm down, it made her so embarrassed and anxious that she couldn't even form proper words to explain herself.

Just as she was struggling with her words, she heard the boy say " Noah" .

She slowly raised her face and looked the boy. It took her a minute to realise that this was the name of the boy.

By the time she realised this, the boy had already stood up and was walking away without waiting for her response.

As she watched him walk away she realised that she still hadn't explained to the boy that she had no other intentions in approaching him, it was really just her curiosity that made her impulsive enough to thoughtlessly approach the boy. " But .. I really ....was just curious....." She mumbled as she helplessly watched him walk away.

Miss Brooke who was standing there the whole time ignored by the girl, watched and observed the girl with complex feelings. She had seen it all...her 'one-sided' interaction with the roses, her going into panic mid compliment and then her recovering from it all on her own.

' I really need to talk to Mrs Joyce ' she thought
