Chapter 1 - Chapter — 1 : The Drop

Markus was having a really bad day.

Not only did his day start by dying, but in his afterlife he found himself inside the body of someone he didn't know.

In a world he knew of but wished nothing to do with.

" This blows." He muttered softly, eyes at the front even when the shuttle he and 99 others was rattling from entering earth's atmosphere.

He kept his tone lowered, not wanting to be heard by the girl sitting next to him.

Clarke.

The protagonist of this shit ass world without internet.

Markus grumbled, his mind already playing out the rest of his life, imagining the worst case scenarios.

After all, what else could he do?

He was just a normal person a day ago, a criminal at that which was something this body also shared—now he was just barely better. With a better physique, more learnt in the arts electronic engineering and general engineering but still he was probably gonna die.

His only way of survival would either to utilise Clarke, who by the grace of the gods was somehow his best friend in this world and ride off her plot armour and hope it would extend to him.

He wouldn't stoop that low though, not even if his life depended on it—he loved living life his own way for that to happen.

*RAAAATTTLLEEEE*

"URGH!" Groans sounded through the drop ship, everyone suddenly holding their heads.

Markus was included in this bizarre event, he groaned—his eyes suddenly glossing over before like a dam breaking, a flood of information and knowledge suddenly welled up inside him.

"Fuck!?"

"Help!"

"What is going on!?"

Sudden groans emanated throughout the entire floor of the drop ship, people groaning and holding their heads as each and everyone of them felt information flooding their heads.

Markus though got dealt the worse of the brunt, because it wasn't only the sudden influx of information that hit him.

[—Ding! The System has absorbed sufficient Iner-Proto Radiation energy to awaken!]

[—Ding! Iner-Proto Radiation is being absorbed into the Hosts genetic structure! Awakening of Latent Soul Ability imminent!]

[—Ding! Host has Awakened the Soul Ability - Death's Harvest!]

Markus groaned even louder, the information being streamed into his head in real time.

Not only did he suddenly understand everything relating to his sudden awakening of a System—but he even obtained a sudden upload of information related to his Soul Ability.

And as he raised his head up, staring at the others around him he groaned.

Everyone seemed to be in a daze, their eyes seemingly staring at a distant future before one by one they all came out of their daze.

" What...what was that?" Clarke muttered besides him.

He didn't look her way though, instead his eyes were on the floating screen infront of him.

[—Ding! The Talent System has Awakened!]

And just as he was intrigued and thinking of exploring the system further.

*BOOOOOM*

The drop ship shook, vibrations travelling throughout each and every person in the ship.

" Fuck!"

' This..is getting annoying.' He thought, shaking his head as he noticed that they seemingly weren't free-falling anymore.

Shaking his head again to rid himself of the vertigo he just experienced, he focused on his surroundings.

Instead of what he would have expected, with people running for the drop ships doors. Instead everyone sat at their sits, some murmuring alongside each other with the same topic.

That topic being them suddenly 'knowing' something, something that they didn't before.

" Markus." A soft voice called out to him.

Blinking rapidly, he looked at her—Clarke.

" Did you...feel that?" She asked, uncertain and a bit scared if her expressions were anything to go by.

" If you mean the sudden information download, then yes, I did." He answered truthfully, his words coming out naturally as if he had always been a part of this world and knew it's people like his own.

"....what do you think that was?" She asked, her eyes staring at her arms."...i feel different."

Markus hearing that blinked, he too felt something was odd. It was like a second sense, inside him he felt like he held a well of energy inside him just begging to burst out.

On the other side he had this instinctive feeling inside, like that if he wanted to he could call upon something deep down inside him so long as the 'conditions' were presented to him.

" Me too." He told her as nonchalantly as he could show himself to be in their situation, though inside he nothing but.

' What the fuck?! This world wasn't supposed to have powers!! This was supposed to be a survival world, not a fucking supernatural shitshow!'

" We should get out of here." He said, already unbuckled and standing.

He was not about to stay inside an airtight space with a bunch of teens who probably awakened to more dangerous powers than he did, even though he knew that his probably had the best potential out of all.

" Yeah..." Clarke replied, her eyes still a bit dazed.

" Wait! Clarke!" Came a voice that Markus dreaded, he felt like grumbling immediately but held himself as he looked at Wells.

' Fucking hell...' He grumbled inside as the boy walked up to them.

" Wells, you're here?" Clarke asked, bewildered for a moment.

" How the fuck did you end up in the Skybox?" Markus found himself asking, the words reaching his mouth before he could think them through." What? Did you buy yourself in there too?"

" Markus!" Clarke quickly interjected, knowing fully well of the relationship between him and Wells and how if allowed they would argue till their lungs hurt.

" It's okay Clarke, some of us don't seem to be civilised enough to take into account of our situation it seems." Wells responded, mirth hidden behind an eloquent jab.

And for some reason, that actually got to Markus, his head filling up with a need to prove himself for some whatever reason that he didn't understand.

" You mot-"

" Markus! Stop. Apologize." Clarke ordered, her eyes pointed and firm probably expecting her order to be fulfilled.

And just for a moment, he actually felt a sudden need to do so and just as he opened his mouth he froze.

' What the fuck?! What the fuck!?'

He stood there, staring at Wells who had a knowing smirk hidden behind Clarke who always had to be the mediator.

That only seemed to piss him off even further, issues with his emotions that he didn't remember having rushing into his head.

" Fuck no." He muttered slowly, enjoying the sudden confusion and surprise on both their faces.

He didn't stay long enough to relish it though, quickly he filed behind the other kids slowly making their way down the hatch where they would arrive at the drop ship.

All the while his mind was pounding inside his head like a hammer, his emotions stirring and cooling like a broken season.

And as soon as he climbed down the hatch into the lower level he blinked as a circle of the other 100 teenagers was made, in the centre were two bodies.

" Okay everybody, back away from the door." A familiar voice shouted.

Markus looked back and paused as he stared at Bellamy Blake in the flash, his hair slicked back and look just as much of a jerk as he always did.

" I'm gonna open the door, back up." Bellamy again shouted and everyone complied, others looking at the door in anticipation and others in fear.

" Wait! Stop! The air could be toxic!" Came Clarke's voice as she climbed down to the lower level and ran up to Bellamy.

" We ain't got no choice, if we stay here we're all gonna be dead anyway—might as well get this show on the road." Markus muttered, just a few feet away from Bellamy as he took his line from him but making sure to not make any eye contact with Clarke.

Bellamy seeing no further refutes was just about to go open the door when another voice echoed.

' For Gods sakes!'

" Bellamy?"

Markus looked back at the owner at the voice, already knowing and expecting who it was but as soon as he looked at her he paused.

' ....well damn, she's beautiful.' a fleeting thought stirred in his brain.

But immediately as that thought popped up, it was drowned by the murmuring of the others around him.

" That's the kid who his under the floor!"

" No way!"

" Really?"

He then watched as the woman he knew to be Octavia walk up to Bellamy and hug him in quick succession.

' Am I the only one here worried about immediately dying from grounders because the timeline suddenly changed? Yes? Fuck me then.'

He thought, shutting out the outside world as he began contemplating and thinking about everything.

" That's Octavia Blake! The girl hidden in the floor!"

Of course that was not meant to be as that shout caught up a stir.

Markus watched as Octavias eyes suddenly glared before she tried shooting herself into the crowd, only to be caught by her brother.

" Octavia, Stop!" Bellamy chimed, reigning his sister in." Let's give them something else to remember you by, okay?"

" Yeah like what?" Octavia grunted, pushing herself off Bellamy.

" Like being the first person to walk on the ground in a hundred years."

That quickly seemed to appease her, eyes turning cunning in a moment.

And then finally, Bellamy walked up to the latch, to the anticipation and excitement of the others.

And just as quick as the latch was pulled, air quickly rushed out with the door opening and outside was a sight to behold.

Green, everything was either so green or brown it was beautiful in its own sort of way.

So just after a moment, Octavia finally started walking, everyone's gazes turning to her as she did.

And just as her feet stepped onto the ground, her face lighted up alongside a larger chunk of the one hundred.

" We're back bitches!" Were Octavias first words back on earth.

Hearing that Markus scoffed, a small smile gracing his features before he unceremoniously walked down the ramp and then came the cheers as teenager after teenager walked out screaming in excitement.

And as they fanned out, relishing the soft air in their lungs, Markus instead walked away to a secluded spot behind the drop ship.

' Finally, now it's time I figured out what the fuck is my ability and what my system can do!'
