Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

It was close to noon when he left his room to have a meeting with the rest of the team.

He had to revise his inventory, see what to take out and what to keep in.

He even summoned some storage rings to put the things he wouldn't need in normal situations from just occupying space, like the fridge.

He was still using the same black and yellow hoodie, although he had changed to new clothes.

"I still can't believe it"

Matthew and Leonard had discovered a small secret of Amadeus while he was in his room.

Leonard was very supportive of Amadeus, but Matthew was still dumbfounded.

The boy decided to ignore Matthew for now.

He had to focus on this meeting.

"It would be great if we all knew about each others' skills" Elise said "This way we know what to expect in battle"

So he watched as everyone showed their skills.

Akilah made a small demonstration of his skill, simple and easy to understand, but without risking absorbing the essence of the mask, and Elijah explained this since both his skills weren't exactly suitable for demonstration right now.

Hellen could summon three skeletons with a chant and control them, but since her level was low, the skeletons she summoned aren't that useful since they could only do simple tasks.

"These skeletons are made of mana" She said "And my mana is weak right now, so they won't be that good in combat, I'de rather have real skeletons or undead creatures, but it's not like I can just buy those"

True.

Necromancers were good on the battlefield, where people and Monsters died all the time, but in normal situations?

People tend to avoid having them in their teams.

Bella had a similar problem.

Beast are expensive to buy and keep, and not all are cooperative, so it would need a lot of mana mastery to subjudge one, something a level one Beast Tamer didn't have.

She herself didn't have a familiar because of lack of funds.

And, in Elise's case, it's complicated.

She needs skills, but learning skills is not as easy as some make it.

She needs a written version of skill to read and analyze, but this written version needs to be extremely detailed so her class can absorb it.

But all these problems became absolutely invalid the moment Amadeus came into the picture.

So now was his turn to show his skills.

He quickly summoned the Book of Stories, making it appear on top of the coffee table and surprising everyone.

"It's… bigger than I expected" Akilah admitted while fixing his glasses.

"How many stories are even there?" Elijah asked.

"Far more than you can think" Amadeus said "Even though it have this size, it carry way more stories than it looks, I haven't even unlocked the first chapter yet, just the synopsis"

He watched as Elise, the person with the highest STR status in this room tried to lift the book to no vain.

"No one other them me is capable of lifting it" He explained "Not even the guardians of the synopsis and chapters, you could say it's my burden to carry"

This book had the weight of his past lives, of all the personas before him, of all their crimes and deeds.

No one could carry this burden for him, only himself.

And, speaking of guardians.

"I'de like to introduce two people to you guys, but keep quiet about it"

Matthew and Leonard became corporal on his shoulders at this moment.

"These are Matthew Benediction and Leonard Kindred" He said "They are my summons"

He, Matthew and Leonard had agreed on telling part of the truth.

Amadeus was the writer of Forgotten Glory, and Matthew and Leonard were now his summons after awakening thanks to his class, but they'd say it just to the team, just so the two men could relax from time to time.

"My Summoning Arts allow me to summon anything in the Book of Stories, especially my own creations, but since I'm still level one, they can't-"

"Holy shit!"

It was Bella who interrupted him, her eyes wide as she pointed at his direction, Akilah and Elise stood frozen in place and Hellen and Elijah had their mouths open, speechless.

"You're WritingWishes!?" Said the Beast Tamer.

Right, that was his username.

With a sheepish smile and avoiding her eyes, he nodded.

"Yeah, I'm WritingWishes, so you know about Forgotten Glory, huh?"

The awkward laugh that came out of him did little to divert the situation.

Bella, now suddenly in front of him, grabbed him by the shoulders, Matthew and Leonard managed to jump from his shoulders before that.

"Why did you post that letter!?"

Letter?

For a second he was confused.

Then he remembered.

'Shit!'

The goodbye letter!

"Right, haha… the letter! About that… it's just- you see…"

He didn't know how to say this.

'I was going to kill myself, that's why I posted the letter?'

No way he'd say this.

But things just got worst.

"What letter?"

It was Arison's voice.

She had appeared out of nowhere with a box in her hand.

He 's fucked.

"So"

The meeting has become an intervention.

"You tried to kill yourself today" She said "Right at your birthday and just leaving behind a letter you posted in the internet?"

Amadeus nodded, face facing the side.

There was a beat of silence as she looked at the boy.

The formerly known as the only one not Awakened in the whole world, living alone in an apartment without support from his family and with no friends, a kid that just turned eighteen and had nowhere to go before miraculously awakening.

Joleen sighed and extended the cake to the boy.

"Then let's celebrate the fact you decided to stay with the living, the Principal had sent a gift"

It was his birthday anyway, he should have the chance to eat a good cake after he has been through.

The place soon became lively, especially after the boy started to summon food with his skill.

She somehow managed to save something for the Principal without eating it all on the way.
