Jason picked up the phone, and before he could speak, Robert's anxious voice burst through:
"Mr. Carter, something happened to Julia's family."
Jason's expression hardened. He spoke coldly, "Didn't you promise those freeloading relatives wouldn't bother them again? How did it get this far?"
Robert replied immediately, voice trembling with frustration, "I did promise. And I never slacked off. Everything was calm these days. With me watching, those cowards didn't dare pull anything."
"But today… something changed. They suddenly had the guts to make a move. Not only that—they stormed straight into Julia's family factory and caused chaos. During the scuffle, Julia's mother tried to stop them, and they shoved her down. She hit her head on something sharp. Hard."
There was a pause, then Robert continued in a lower voice, "I looked into it. It seems someone big—way above my level—interfered. I don't know who. But someone warned me not to meddle. Mr. Carter… what should I do? Do I still step in for Julia's family?"
Jason's anger ignited instantly.
Those relatives again.Absolutely shameless.
He didn't always agree with Julia's father's philosophy, but he respected the man—selfless, giving, helping disadvantaged kids for years without expecting anything in return.
To repay kindness with cruelty—those people were beyond disgusting.
Jason took a deep breath."Is Julia's mother okay? How serious is the injury?"
Robert answered, voice grave, "It looks bad. She lost a lot of blood. They rushed her to the ER, and she's in critical condition. And when her father heard what happened… it triggered his illness again. His condition worsened."
Jason's brows tightened further.
"You keep protecting Julia's family. Don't worry—I'll back you."
Robert exhaled heavily, voice stabilizing, "Understood. I'll follow your command."
His biggest fear wasn't the freeloaders—it was the unknown "big shot" supporting them. Someone out of his league.
But if Jason Carter promised to back him—
Then he didn't need to match that opponent. He just needed to trust Jason could.
There was risk, of course. If the enemy was stronger than Jason, he could be throwing himself into the fire.
But Robert had seen Jason's influence and power firsthand.
If he gambled now and won Jason's favor…His future would change forever.
Jason hung up and immediately dialed Lily.
Her voice came through cracked with tears.
"Jason… something happened to Julia's family. I tried to get a flight for today, but everything's sold out. Driving would take too long. I don't know what to do. Julia cried until she couldn't speak anymore. Please… can you help?"
Jason didn't waste even one second.
"Take her to the school football field. I'll pick her up."
Lily froze for a moment, shocked by how quickly he responded, then quickly replied:
"Okay—okay! Thank you, Jason!"
Lily was too anxious to think deeply about why Jason told them to wait at the school football field. She didn't question it—she just acted.
After ending the call, Jason immediately contacted his private helicopter pilot, then the pilot of his newly delivered Gulfstream G550. Yes—his custom-ordered G550 had finally arrived.
Meanwhile, in the girls' dormitory, Julia was frantically refreshing every flight page she could find.
Still nothing.
No available seats.Ticket-grabbing apps frozen.Every airline hotline either busy or unresponsive.
Her vision blurred with tears. Every time she wiped them away, a new wave fell, blinding her again.
She tried messaging everyone she could think of—high school friends, college classmates, distant relatives—begging them to check for flights.
She tried to think logically, to stay calm.
But fear twists the heart too strongly.
Her breath trembled. Her fingers shook. The tears simply wouldn't stop.
Lily hugged her gently.
"Julia, it's okay… don't panic. We're all helping. If any tickets open up, we'll get one for you. I promise."
"One more person trying means one more chance…" she whispered, her voice completely hoarse.
At that moment, Lily rushed back into the room, breathless.
"Julia—Jason knows. I told him everything. He said he has a way. He wants us to wait on the football field. I don't… know how he's getting tickets, but he sounded confident."
Julia froze.
Then, without hesitation, she grabbed Lily's wrist and ran.
Lily almost stumbled from how fast Julia pulled her, but she didn't complain, letting Julia drag her all the way across campus.
They reached the football field—empty, quiet—and stood waiting under the cold sky. Julia's eyes were red and swollen, and she didn't speak a word.
Lily's heart ached watching her. Any attempt to comfort her died in her throat. Words meant nothing now; miracles were the only thing that mattered.
She silently prayed that Julia's parents would survive… and that Jason truly had a way.
A moment later, Lily noticed movement at the edge of the field.
Student Union President Mike and Vice President Ivan were leading several members to clear students off the turf.
"President, what's going on?" Lily asked.
Mike shrugged. "Not sure. Jason Carter told us to clear an open area."
That alone was explanation enough.
They didn't ask more.
Before they could say another word—
A thunderous, chopping sound rolled across the sky.
The sound of helicopter blades.
Lily's head snapped upward.
Her eyes widened.
A sleek black helicopter was flying directly toward them.
"No way…" she whispered.
The helicopter swooped lower… lower… then hovered above the cleared section.
It landed smoothly.
And in the co-pilot seat—
Jason Carter.
Lily was stunned speechless.
No wonder he said to go to the football field.
He wasn't coming by car.
He was coming from the sky.
Mike and Ivan stood frozen, jaws nearly on the ground. Luxury cars suddenly felt like cheap toys in comparison.
Jason stepped out, expression steady and focused. He walked straight to Julia.
He didn't say anything unnecessary. He simply took her hand and guided her toward the helicopter.
Julia didn't resist.Didn't speak.Didn't hesitate.
She just followed.
Jason helped her into the back seat and buckled her seatbelt himself. She was visibly terrified—her fingers clung to the belt with white-knuckled tension—but she didn't back away at all.
Jason sat beside her and held her trembling hand.
"Don't worry. I'm here," he said, voice steady.
Julia's grip softened just a little. Her other hand clung tightly to Jason's.
She didn't understand how Jason owned a helicopter, or how he could land it on campus, or how the Student Union listened to him without question. But right now, none of that mattered.
All she cared about was getting home.
The helicopter lifted off, rising into the sky under the stunned gazes of Lily, Mike, Ivan, and the gathered crowd.
Not far away, Jack arrived just in time to witness the takeoff.
He had rushed over as soon as he heard something happened to Julia's family, hoping he could help.
But when he saw Jason lifting off in a private helicopter—
He felt something inside him break.
He had already lost any confidence to compete with Jason Carter before.
Now?
It was hopeless.
If Julia couldn't buy a plane ticket, neither could he.If a powerful outsider was interfering, he couldn't protect her family. He couldn't even reach the city fast enough.
But Jason?
Jason simply flew.
Ten minutes later, the helicopter landed on a private pad near the airport. Airport staff were already waiting, guiding them straight to the gleaming Gulfstream G550.
Jason led a dazed, exhausted Julia onto the jet.
Within minutes, the engines powered up—
And they took off.
Julia still felt suffocated by worry, but at least she was finally going home—on the fastest route possible.
Her tears had stopped, replaced by quiet determination.
She turned her head slightly and looked at Jason beside her.
This man who said nothing extra…Who just acted…Who moved mountains when she needed him most…
He was impossibly, dangerously charming.
Julia: Favorability +5
Her system bar glowed softly in Jason's mind.
And for the first time that day, he exhaled.
