Chapter 81 - 81

After Megan added Olivia on Instagram, she walked back to Jason's side. She didn't say anything—just slipped her hand through his arm.

Unlike before, where she'd always kept a polite distance, this time she pressed herself right against him.

Jason felt the warmth and softness on his arm, and glanced at Megan with a faint smile. To be honest, after learning she was still untouched by the messiness he had assumed, his impression of her rose sharply.

Sure, she had some "green tea" tendencies, but at least she was a clean, self-respecting version of it.

Still, Jason reminded himself—green tea is green tea. It was fine so long as she didn't try to climb over him.

Soon after they sat down, Olivia and her husband walked over. Megan casually introduced Olivia to Jason.

She didn't try to leverage Olivia's help as some kind of moral debt Jason owed—Megan was too smart for that. That would have only been off-putting. Olivia had extended her hand in goodwill, and that was enough.

Jason, in turn, gave Megan face by being polite and even adding Olivia back.

Olivia and her husband left smiling, their tone toward Megan warmer than before.

Megan, sharp as ever, caught the subtle dynamic immediately: Jason had made her look good in front of them. That thought made her even more determined to play her part.

She stayed by Jason's side like a quiet little bird, never cutting into his conversations. Instead, she focused entirely on him—peeling shrimp delicately, placing each piece neatly onto his plate.

When Jason finished, she even pulled out a wet wipe and gently cleaned his hands.

Before tonight, her emotional intelligence was already considered high. But tonight? It was off the charts.

Soon, the band struck up soft dance music, and couples began pairing off on the dance floor.

A tall, mixed-race young man approached Megan with a polite smile. He was easily over six feet, well-built, dressed in a designer suit with a V3 badge on his lapel.

To most women, a man like this was hard to ignore.

He bowed slightly, then addressed her in a courteous tone, even nodding to Jason respectfully as if acknowledging him.

"Beautiful," he said warmly, "may I have this dance?"

Megan only gave him a quick glance, her smile faint but unshaken."Sorry. I only dance with my man."

The young man blinked, a touch of disappointment crossing his face, but he recovered quickly, still gracious."Of course. Excuse me."

He left without another word.

Megan didn't even look back at him, not the slightest trace of regret in her eyes. Instead, she leaned against Jason again, listening quietly as he spoke with others.

Anyone watching them would've thought she was Jason's wife.

As someone who kept a whole "fishpond" of women, how could Megan so casually turn down such a high-value guy? And without even a second thought?

After a while, when Jason finally had a break in conversation, Megan tugged gently on his arm.

"Hey… how about a dance with me?" she asked, her tone playful but her eyes soft.

Jason chuckled. "Sure. But I'm not very good. You'll probably end up with bruised toes."

"Nope. I'll teach you." Megan laughed lightly, pulling him to his feet and onto the dance floor.

She placed his right hand around her waist. Strictly speaking, the formal position was higher—just below the shoulder blade. But Megan deliberately guided his hand lower, firmly onto her waist.

Then she took his left hand with hers, draping her own left hand over his shoulder.

Finally, she stepped closer, snuggling into his arms.

Megan led him through the first few steps, slow and steady, her movements confident. Jason picked it up quickly, enough to move naturally even if not professionally.

From a distance, the two of them looked less like student and mentor—more like lovers swaying under the ballroom lights.

"You picked that up so fast," Megan said softly as she led the dance, her eyes glinting under the dim lights. "Be honest—has anyone taught you before?"

Jason chuckled. "Nope. First time I've ever tried."

Megan tilted her head, her smile playful. "Really? With how close you are to Quinn and Holly, I would've thought one of them might've taught you. Especially Holly—she's a professional dancer."

It was a loaded question. A test.

But Jason only grinned lazily. "Do I look like someone who's been trained? Guess I've just got natural talent, huh?"

Megan blinked at him, studying his face for a long moment. Jason's calm expression gave nothing away. He had no intention of explaining his relationships with Quinn or Holly.

Seeing that, Megan let it go. She leaned closer, her lips brushing near his ear as she whispered, her voice like a soft orchid breeze:

"Jason… maybe you're the prince in my story. That day, you pulled me out of trouble. And today—you helped solve the problem that's weighed on my dad for two years. Tell me… how could I ever thank you properly?"

Jason's smile widened. "You don't need to thank me with words. Just… promise me yourself."

Megan gasped, pretending to be scandalized, though her lips were already close enough to nearly graze his. "So it turns out you were scheming all along, huh? Inviting me on this trip, just the two of us. Jason, isn't it true? Everyone knows when a guy and girl travel alone, something is bound to happen. You thought the same… didn't you?"

Jason smirked. "Come on, I was just joking. Unless…" He let his voice drop into a tease. "Unless that's what you're hoping for. If you want it, I'll gladly keep you company. I won't brag about much, but when it comes to stamina—your junior here is solid."

Megan rolled her eyes, though her cheeks burned faintly. "Careful. You'll make the other girls jealous."

Jason laughed. "What other girls? Right now, it's just you, Megan."

Her lips curved into a mischievous smile. "Then… maybe I should just give myself to you." She leaned in so close he could feel her breath against his mouth, her gaze full of smoky charm.

Jason's heart skipped, instinctively leaning toward her—

But Megan pressed a slender finger to his lips. "Not so fast. This would be my first kiss. I won't give it away carelessly."

Jason looked into her eyes. "Fair enough. But if I kiss you, I'll be all in—devoted."

Her eyes lit up instantly. "You mean it?"

Jason put on a serious face. "I swear—before heaven—that I'll always only love… girls."

For a second, Megan froze, then quickly pulled back, biting her lip to stifle a laugh. She shrank into his chest and pinched his waist hard. "Jason! You're awful."

Inside, though, she gritted her teeth. Love only girls? That was technically being "single-minded"? This junior was dangerous—so calm, so slippery. He played along, but she couldn't pin him down.

And yet… wasn't Quinn still around him? Holly Larson too? He wasn't hers alone, was he? Who was chasing who here?

The next morning, Megan was still soft and gentle, her warmth wrapping around Jason at every chance.

To be honest, Jason had never been treated with such tender care from a young woman before—it was enough to make even his bones feel weak.

Megan grew bolder, her gestures more intimate, her tone more suggestive. But every time Jason tried to push further, she dodged away with a teasing smile. Her meaning was clear: she wanted commitment, exclusivity, before giving herself fully.

Jason understood, but pretended otherwise. He knew he could easily whisper a few promises, trick her, and have her in bed by nightfall.

But he didn't want to. That wasn't his way.

Yes, he was a scoundrel at heart—his life now revolved around raising affection points and reaping rewards—but he still had a bottom line. Deception for intimacy? That, he disdained.

Either Megan accepted him as he was—or they'd stop here.

Still, her constant teasing had worn him thin. His patience for the trip was running out, and her affection score no longer seemed to rise.

Time to wrap this up.

So, after one last quiet dinner, Jason called in a favor. Mark had a private jet waiting. The trip was over.
